Borla Exhaust for Kia Stinger

Kept stock tips. I’m trying to do things a little different on car. A lot of cars I see on forums people are just copying everyone else’s style.

I wanted a louder exhaust, I have a LOUDER exhaust. The wife never really complained, she just kept making funny faces.

I always heard "you need to be careful what you wish for, you might get it". This is one of those times.

BUT, it IS LOUD, but it's a sweet loud (AND BURBLES)... The wife just kept looking funny, she will get over it eventually. I suggest listening to this exhaust (any exhaust) if possible. And the power is improved (my butt dyno), it's a different car with the exhaust and new filters. It's never to be mistaken for a Tesla with my Borla exhaust.

So for reference, the Sema car with the borla exhaust and K&N air intake got 15 hp from both. So alone maybe 6-9 hp from the borla I’d think. Not much.

Put base racechip in and you get 50 more horsepower and over75 pounds more torque. Not bad boost of power for all under 2000 dollars.

It's hard to fairly judge just by numbers, although would be impossible without. The enjoyment from driving (to most people) is from low-end and midrange power, even though raw top end is fun- I spend very little time WIDE OPEN. Gaining torque down in the rpms is my biggest goal, it's where I live and where I spend most of my time when driving. Using that number (15hp) sounds like very little (and it is) but the gains from throttle response feel much more than a number 15hp would represent.

My butt dyno would have guessed 25-30hp as a guess- I'd say a conservative guess at that, but if 15hp is repeatable and proven, I'll have to believe it. It is real HP and it feels more, BUT IS LOUD! Thanks for those numbers Never thought...

Oh I don’t disagree. I don’t think you get exhaust for the numbers. Just saying.

So...here's the latest scoop from Borla. They told me that the reason they are having a "distribution issue" is that they only produced 40 units the first go-around and sold out inless than two days. They really didn't expect much in the way of sales for this car. They are in production right now and will ship on a first ordered basis on the 27th. If you received one of the first 40 units you were lucky. I'll have to wait until the end of the month. Hope Mike at Import Shark remembered to put my order in!

Got mine 6weeks ago I was lucky. I think a lot of aftermarketers thaught the car was going to flop . Because they are all behind on aftermarket stuff in less you order from s Korea. I am waiting for del from there it’s slow with custom processes

Well, my Borla arrived and is installed. What a difference, no confusing mine with a Tesla now.

And like a previous post said, it's about as loud or quiet as you want it to be. I'll test it later to see what the db reading is inside, it does growl- but I like it. I do think this will be a little too loud for the wife's approval (but she will get over it). Oh, this is/was supposed to be her car.

First thoughts:
Louder, but in a good way
Seems to smoothen lag just a smidgeon

Will report back with my results after I have something worth reporting. All told, after installation, I was out $1,072 (counting installation). The muffler shop took old off and new on within 45 minutes, they made it look easy. No rattles or knocks, Borla truly sells a plugnplay system. So far, so good.

My car, a GT2. Installed K&N drop-ins also. No tune (yet)...

What in the actual F***.....You ordered after I did and they gave me some bullshit line of not shipping until the 27th.....It may seem petty but this really pisses me off.

BigDave802, I don't know what to say. I sure didn't think they'd get to me so fast. Had already accepted that I'd not see/hear mine til sometime in May. Received notifications and everything looked to be way out, then the UPS delivery notification. Surprised.

I'd feel the same feelings if were reversed, I do hope yours get to you soon. They go on easy, like they are made for it. I'm happy, the wife not so. Oh well... Can't have everything... Good luck with yours!

That's exactly what happened. I thought it was common knowledge. Stinger Haus had the deal with Borla and these exhausts were supposed to be "flying off the shelves" due to their ingenious idea to exclusively sell through Kia dealerships as a dealer-installed option. Obviously this program is completely up to the dealer to opt into, and quite frankly, 99% of them out there couldn't give a damn about aftermarket upgrades. So yes, Stinger Haus defaulted on their monthly minimum agreement--by a LONG SHOT from what I hear--and that's why Borla opened things up to their distributorship channels so quickly.

Initially since the exhaust was supposed to only sold through Stinger Haus, that's why there was the note on the boxes to indicate this. When Borla started selling themselves, they got rid of those boxes and used the normal ones. It's the SAME EXACT exhaust that's been on the market since day 1, regardless of who the seller is.
So I can purchase this system through you Shark? Contact me at rynclan@hotmail.com

The second batch of Borla Exhausts are shipping now. Received mine last Thursday but haven't been home yet to install it. Been getting lots of contradictory statements about the CF tips so I took a close look at the factory tips and I might fab up a set in the next week or so.

Wait until you drive it in manual mode with borla. It’s sounds sweet

Car sounds like a dam Ferrari . It’s is a great sound big dave

I am happy to say that I really love how the Borla exhaust sounds on my car, BUT they musta sent me a different exhaust- mine doesn't sound like any local Ferraris. Mine does sound great and I get many complements, but nobody has said mine sounds like a Ferrari.

Mine is loud (like a Ferrari) but the tone is quite different...

I will agree with this statement, it is sweet.
But it really needs toned down a bit for many. As I work on my sound deadening, I like it more. 1-2 hours of work with dynamat and sound deadening materials make several dB improvement inside.

Our cars have poor sound dampening- the spare tire pocket magnifies the exhaust sound to the cabin. It has taken a little work to get mine easier to live with, I love it's sound from inside and outside.

Would love to see pics/summary of what you have done for "deadening"

Had my Borla installed Saturday. Sounds great outside but too noisy inside. The db inside takes away from the "luxury" portion of "Luxury Performance" part of this car. However, after reading posts here I had already ordered 20 sq/ft of Damplifier Pro™ 2mm Butyl Vibration Sheets (12" X 20") *MADE IN USA* and 18 sq/ft of Luxury Liner Pro Single Sheet Bundle w/ Spray Adhesive - Mass Loaded Vinyl + Closed Cell Foam. Should help considerably and I will post pics of the install. Here is a dropbox link to a video on startup after the install. The audio is fair.Dropbox - 1526159751352_IMG_14881.3gp20180427_054943_1524833417765.webp

It certainly sounds like a deeper base tone than some exhausts. Maybe that contributes internaly to the level of drone? Good luck with the sound deadening. Sounds like you're doing more than just the boot area?
