Borla Exhaust for Kia Stinger

Borla must be getting a few emails a day about this exhaust. I am surprised they haven't wrote a little note about it on the web page.

All this confusion about this exhaust is EXHAUSTING .... see what I did there lol.

Anyways, according to UPS tracking, my direct order from Borla should arrive some time tomorrow. We’ll see about the labeling....:cautious:

Hmm...if you go to the Borla page on Polyphonic exhausts there is a link for 2018 Kia Stinger "S" Type now where there wasn't when I contacted Borla. If you go to the Borla 2018 Stinger page the exhaust is listed as an "S" Type with no mention of Polyphonic technology. Am am now switching my stance on this issue(no, I am not a politician) and going with the One-Borla Exhaust Camp. I did just email Borla and ask for clarification. I wonder if Stinger Haus couldn't sell enough units so they took his exclusivity rights away? If that's the case I will order from Mike at Importshark, however, I am still waiting for notice that my other order has finally shipped first.

That's exactly what happened. I thought it was common knowledge. Stinger Haus had the deal with Borla and these exhausts were supposed to be "flying off the shelves" due to their ingenious idea to exclusively sell through Kia dealerships as a dealer-installed option. Obviously this program is completely up to the dealer to opt into, and quite frankly, 99% of them out there couldn't give a damn about aftermarket upgrades. So yes, Stinger Haus defaulted on their monthly minimum agreement--by a LONG SHOT from what I hear--and that's why Borla opened things up to their distributorship channels so quickly.

Initially since the exhaust was supposed to only sold through Stinger Haus, that's why there was the note on the boxes to indicate this. When Borla started selling themselves, they got rid of those boxes and used the normal ones. It's the SAME EXACT exhaust that's been on the market since day 1, regardless of who the seller is.

To be honest, i would not give the dealership the money anyway...no reason to give them more ridiculous markup. Id rather go without. That said, i am happy to see the same PN being offered through more normal distribution channels

$400- $600 in Dealer Mark Up on these is pretty outrageous... almost as outrageous as blatantly lying to a customer who just purchased a $50,000 car from them... unreal... telling people there was a different Borla system is a lie. I hate liars.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
...and from the email Jimb got from Borla , Borla is also talking out both sides of their mouths. Telling some there is only one, and others that the dealer version is not for sale publically ... If it wasnt such a huge pain to switch back to stock I would mail my Borla exhaust back to them... unbelievable.
I have ordered the Polyphonic exhaust and hope it is there this weekend. I'll post pics and try to get a good sound sample for you. The CF tips aren't available yet and will probably me another month according to Rick Strauss at Stinger Haus.

As for the discrepancy with one or two different Borla exhausts, I will call Borla tomorrow again to verify. THEY are the ones who directed me to Stinger Haus for the Borla Polyphonic version. This is the email:

Hi Jim,

Yes, this system is done and for sale over a month ago, and it is polyphonic. It is only through Stinger Haus here in California, @ Stinger Haus 714-505-0609. Hope this helps, as we do not sell this item to the public.

Different sales people may reply with different information. I'm sure Borla is still trying to support SH, but there are sales guys over there that just want to sell the darn part already and SH wasn't fulfilling their end to the agreement. Regardless, there's only one exhaust for the car. No other.

Taking a step back, the whole Stingerhaus - KIA agreement for aftermarket parts was not well thought out IMO.....If KIA wanted to offer aftermarket parts they would have been better served to make contracts with the parts vendors directly rather than an intermediate distributor like Stingerhaus. They both missed the whole point that KIA has not launched a performance car before and most of the KIA dealerships simply had very little interest in aftermarket parts nor the desire to "sign up" with Stingerhaus as distributors / dealers.

Yes exactly. I had Rick call 3 dealerships, followed by me calling to put a deposit down. None of them were even remotely interested. The best I got was, okay I'll see what I can do and call you back. Never heard from them again.

Even my dealership who sells at least 1 stinger a week wasn't even interested.

PENGUIN,

I did some poking around on the internet and located some sound deadening insulation for the rear of the car. It came to about $100... thats for two layers... two different kinds of insulation made specifically for this purpose. Also pulled up the back bench seat and under the floor board in the hatch... There is no insulation in either location. I think the hatch area being directly above the mufflers is acting like a big empty steel drum and may be what is causing the low frequency "burrrr" sound. I figure $100 isn't too much to figure out if I am right... Will post pictures and before and after impressions after I get it installed.

Wow...I sure stirred up a hornet's nest with this exhaust but I got to the bottom of it today. There IS only one Borla exhaust and it is now available through numerous sources. Stinger Haus was supposed to have exclusive wholesale rights but SOMETHING went wrong. Called my dealer today to see if he wanted to match Mike's price at Import Shark and got nothing but a run around with a "I'll have to get back with you" (sigh)

That's just fine with me, Mike shipped my M&S kit today and he'll have an exhaust order in when he gets to work in the morning. I am more disappointed with Borla than anyone else in this drama. They are a top-of-the-line company who shouldn't allow themselves to be the center of negative attention like this.

I apologize. I thought I had real accurate info to bring to the table for those Stinger enthusiasts like myself. On another note, mine will be done Friday from having the chrome delete with carbon fiber and some interior pieces done. Whoop, whoop!

So where can we get the other Stinger Haus exclusives...like diffuser and hood vents?

You mean these? Got mine from Findlay Kia in Las Vegas. This pic was sent over to me by Incognito Wraps for my approval on the Black/Gray combo. 20180402_155043001.webp

Have you asked that dealership about the tips? Prices?

I'll be back in Vegas in June. Hopefully I can buy it then.

From what I read, it is most effective to use the foil back product first to deal with about 40% of the noise and then the closed cell black foam product for the remaining 60% of the noise. Reviews on Amazon are very positive for both products. I figure it is worth a shot... In my case I think I will start with the area under the back bench seat and the trunk area and then re-evaluate to see if I want to fool with the door panels.

Damn..those look amazing!!! Ill be on the phone with Findlay this week i think...thanks for the info

Actually...do you happen to have a "stock" pic of them without the wrap? Just curious if they are glossy like the standard vents or more matte. Seems like the SEMA ones were more matte.

That's a Photoshop? Oh and, thanks for the orders! We'll update you with tracking on the exhaust shortly.

Since my dealership's part department is clueless... Were these ordered directly at Findlays parts department? Perhaps maybe you can proxy?

I've seen the gloss black carbon style on sharkracing... But the grey tones will match my newly wrapped roof and spoiler.....

Knowing that Borla now has 1 exhaust for the Stinger, looks like they definitely are tagging them all the same as Penguins
