Amazing smoke and mirrors game! Glad that you'll get satisfaction. And Ima sure that you'll be watching everything on your car carefully and documenting anything in the weeks ahead, until your sure they didn't screw it up twice.

No way will I have this recall done unless I see oil drips. This isn't a sudden failure risk. It's a developing issue from the feed pipe starting to fail. So, nothing gets touched unless it breaks.

No issues with the recall on my car and it cured the burning smell I'd get under hard acceleration. With that said, I can see how you or anyone else would feel that way, especially given the BS this guy just went through, definitely not confidence inspiring.

Glad I got it done only because if I sell down the road I won't have to deal w/ it later on. Luckily mine went fine, just some coolant burping that wasn't done completely. Have 10k miles since the recall and all good, this was at the new Genesis of Las Vegas fwiw.
Sucks to hear some of the BS some of you have had to go through :eek:

Kia dealer during this recall work but it seems that some of these dealerships need to

get their shit together.

There is a huge variety from dealership to dealership, both in sales and service quality.
Sadly, this is true of most car makes. I had issues with my old Mazda dealership a few years ago, and started going to a different place. It was night and day different, in a good way.
Same thing 10-15 years ago when I was a Nissan guy. I had a great relationship with my dealership, until it got sold. They had good management and dedicated staff.
Within a year under new ownership, almost all of the staff quit or were let go. Close to a 100% turnover. It tanked big time, and became one of the worst Nissan dealers in the City. They still have a horrible reputation.
 
That is very true. Nissan is a mess even more than Kia I am afraid. (had a couple xterras and was so sad to see them ax that model)

But, it seems that the dealership group who bought the KIA dealership in my town seems to be more customer centric and is interested

in a better relationship with people who own KIA's, but that could short lived. Hoping for the best.

Where I go to service my car is a Nissan/Kia dealership. They have been great to deal with. Have always given me loaner cars if need be no questions asked for free. It's the closest dealership to my work/home. I didn't buy my Stinger there though cuz all their Stingers were 4-5 grand more than they shoulda been compared to the place I bought my Stinger from.

Ive done some research on this and called over a dozen dealers. All dealers said i had to wait 3-9 weeks to even get an appointment. About half of them told me they need to drop the engine. the other half told me its a half day job. I have my car there right now Service advisor said it should be done same day and they have to drive it before returning it to me, as sometime it may overheat after job is done. From the sound of it, if the problem continues to occur after the job as been done a replacement engine might be coming

The half that said they need to drop the engine need to be taken off your list, motor does NOT need to be dropped. This is a video of the entire recall repair

I’ve got the recall done and they said everything was fine to pick up. They send this picture of the oil saying it looks like it hasn’t been changed in a while. I got my oil change done 2 weeks ago and haven’t drove the car. Then they said it could be coolant in the oil which could be a head gasket. I haven’t driven the car since the oil change and had the car towed to kia for a recall. There’s no way there should be coolant in the oil as the car hasn’t been running. The mechanics had nothing to say about that. Car runs great no codes no issues. I don’t think Kia is trying to “sell” me on anything as the guy pretty much implied the car would be toast if it was the head gasket. I have a picture but can’t upload as I’m a new member. My mechanic used moly oil and the picture shows the oil being very dark black with some brown. From the pictures I’ve seen does not look like coolant. Does anyone have any idea what this is??

I'm guessing the overheat would be from not properly bleeding the coolant system after reconnecting it. But for that to lead to a replacement engine (vs. just some residual air in the system that works itself out) sounds like a pretty extreme case, and one that Kia corporate would not be happy with the dealership about.

A Blackstone oil analysis will be able to tell if it's coolant or any other contaminant, and the condition of the oil itself. And as unfortunate as a blown head gasket would be, it would not mean the car is "toast".

That’s what I was thinking. I know it would be a never ending back and forth with the dealership. How should I get in touch in corporate

I will definitely do Blackstone.
If that comes back bad I will definitely contact corporate as I know it will be back and forth with the dealer. To contact corporate do i just send an email?
