3.3T Turbo Oil Feed Line Recall 2024

I had a mechanic suggest a moly additive (Cera Tec) right after we bought the car with 15k and I decided to not do this because the additive can

darken the oil and add that film that looks milky. According to this guy, it has kept his turbo charged Mercedes going for over

200k. I declined due to the lower mileage on this car thinking that regular oil changes would be fine. Maybe that what you are seeing.

Besides, you would probably see oil in the coolant as well and weird white smoke tail emissions.

I'd wait and see what it says, since the car is running great. Could just be 96k miles of buildup. If that's the case, you could run a jug of engine flush through it...usually they're just a lightweight oil with extra detergents, and you let the engine idle for 10-15min to knock anything loose, then drain and put in your normal oil.

If there does turn out to be a problem, I'd gather the relevant info (no sign of it before the work was done, recent oil changes/maintenance, results of the oil test), and explain to the service manager that you don't see how it could be a coincidence.

I wouldn't start yelling or threatening to go to corporate or calling them incompetent, because those are just going to make them dig in. Present it like mistakes happen (because they do) and you just want your car working again. If they're completely uncooperative after you engage them in good faith, then escalate to corporate, but no need to pick a fight at the start and decrease your odds of an easy resolution.

110,000 miles on my 2018 GT and I won't do the recall. Don't plan to until something starts smoking.

Just did the Recall myself finally... Dropped it off yesterday, picked it up the following morning. Before I left I let the car idle for 15 mins to make sure no overheating, while idling I checked everything over & found several items that were "Missed" and had to sit and wait an additional 4 hours while they buttoned things up before I left confident it was completed to my satisfaction. I'd suggest printing out the OEM Procedures first.
Look through all the steps, see what parts they'll be touching. Then I took a video of my engine compartment before dropping it off for service. Upon picking up the car, I found that the LT aluminum Brace was "Loose" bolts were barely threaded in place but not tightened down. Car was "rattling" while I was letting it idle. Also found a missing bolt, that required one of the coolant lines to be removed in order to put the missing bolt in, which also required them to "Re Bleed/Burp" the cooling system a second time. Then lastly, the coolant hose that was removed for the "Burping" was only put on half way, so the hose could have come loose. I requested they loosen the clamp, push the hose on fully so it could be secured properly before I left the lot. Overall, they took care of everything but if I hadn't taken the time to look things over carefully, (unlike probably the majority of customers) I could have left and been vulnerable to major issues down the road.

Damn, could've been a shitshow if you left it as-is Like you, I took a pic prior (Genesis G70) and luckily everything was buttoned up proper and the engine bay was very clean when picked up. Only issue for me was having to top off the coolant tank a couple times as they didn't take the time to fully burp the system. I'm guessing I added about 1 to 1.5 qts of coolant to totally top it off. We had an 800 mile drive home after the dealer recall, I checked oil & coolant level at pickup and both were full, coolant dropped to the low mark when we were home. I topped it off, had another 800 mile drive and was back to the low mark, topped it off again and has been at the full mark for 10k miles now, and never any sign of overheating in all those miles.

BTW, should post up what dealer left your Stinger like this (our dealer was Genesis Las Vegas).

Man, that is a horror story with a good ending. You as the "author" chose the ending. That is excellent advice. Thanks for sharing your story.

My indy mechanic noticed an oil leak along the front left area of the engine. He wasn't sure where it originated from but took a photo. Do you think it's related to the turbo oil feed line?

I took it to another mechanic for a second opinion. He cleaned the engine and ran the car but there were no leaks. He is pretty sure it was just oil spilled from past oil changes

So if I were you I would clean the area and then reinspect.

It's not just spilled oil, I have the exact same leak and have done the wipe down and it reappears. I believe its a timing chain cover leak and it seems to be becoming a common issue with the 3.3TT.

It must be a slow leak then. I'm having my oil changed next month so should find out if it reappeared.

Yeah mine is super slow too. I've been watching my oil level and it doesnt really change but it always ends up a mess juat like yours with the drip in the identical spot.

Probably a good idea to take some pictures or perhaps a quick video before you actually drop it off, just for protection, in the event that shit goes sidewards.

Update. Took my gts to the dealer for the turbo oil line repair. Not a good day. Hit the edge of a pothole when I was 2 miles from the dealership. Bent the front passenger rim and tire went flat. Installed the spare. It went flat while checking in at the dealership. Then talked to service people. They did not order the recall kit even though I booked my appointment 2 weeks ago.
