EK1Pro Tune - Sixth Element

Awesome that will get me started. I’ll take a look tonight. Thanks for the quick response. I’ve got a dyno scheduled for next week so I need to have her dialed in.
Ooo I'm interested to see what that comes back with cause then I'll have a rough idea of where I'm at too!

My car didn't like making boost very much so if yours isn't like that then just keep an eye on it as your testing. But like I said, if you reduce all the boost numbers by 1 then that was th starting tune Terry gave me so you should be good.

No worries though man! Report back to us!

Will do! Looks like a rainy weekend. So, I’ll spend some time on the car. More to come, and thanks for the info!

Ok took it to the dyno on Tuesday. Going to make a more detailed post. But after a little fiddling I got one good pull in 5th gear. She made 468 HP and 565 Ft Lbs TQ. I for sure think we could have pulled another 10-15 HP out if it. Just ran out of time.

Nice man! Was that just on Map5 or were you messing with Map6?

Had to go with MAP5. I was having some fuel issues. I’ll go back in the fall for another run. That gives me lots of time to dial things in and make sure I won’t need to make adjustments on the fly.

Those are great numbers dude. Excited to see what it will do after some further refinement

Soooo much info on this thread! Love it.

I just bought the ek1 lite - firs thing I plan to do is get a TCU tune loaded in - seems like from what Ive read on here, the BMS TCU tune is the way to go? Is it definitely better than the other ek1 options (SXTH, Tork)

I'm going to hold off loading an ECU tune for now, I'm currently running a jb4 on map 2 and it feels very good to me, I don't need any additional power since I don't plan on street racing or taking it to drag strip.

Thanks in advance

BMS TCU tune all the way. You absolutely can't beat the price and it's made a noticeable difference with zero issues for me. Unfortunately the same can't be said about the much higher priced SXTH tune as of late..

Also, I'd still suggest the BMS BEF tune for your ECU. All of your maps still work as normal but it adds some fine tuning to them on the back end that really helps make the power delivery strong and smooth. For $75 it's completely worth it IMHO

Edit: I don't know a damn thing about Tork's tunes but between the customer service that Terry provides and the fact he's been tuning this platform as long as anyone.. BMS gets my vote

93 ~Wmi -e60 mix tune 19 degree or 20 degree ? Will 20 deg achieve more hp and less 60-130s times ? Which is better? None will be used as daily as I have the jb4 on map 0 with the ign 17 for my daily driving.

Thanks

Does he still offer a 20 deg timing? As far as the BMS BEF? Last I talked to Terry, 19deg was the sweet spot as far as safety and power. His initial tune was 21 degrees and he said there was virtually no power difference going down to 19.

SXTH offers the 20 deg time. Most of us have the same mods, I bet tested his tunes on different fuel setups. I think it’s where you race with your tune. If I’m looking of a half a second on the drag track will it be the 20 degree tune ?

Not Terry, but Nathan does. At least on my calibration ID, he has a stage 1 tune that peaks at 18 degrees, and a stage 2 that peaks at 20 degrees.

Since you already have a jb4, I'd honestly recommend going with the jb4 bef maps instead. It'll give you more flexibility, being able to change boost levels with the jb4 to accommodate various fueling situations (ie. map0 for daily driving with 91/93, and a custom map6 for track runs).

Yeah I was about to respond the same thing. Still use your maps to adjust boost within the same tune and not have to worry about flashing back and forth.

Also a little bit more consistent quality from some of what I've read more recently in this thread.

BMS over any other tune because I’m a satisfied customer. Happy with terry lately after a lot of runs and logs and since it’s a BMS bef he prepared a nice tune for me and happy with it too. Going with jb4 bef maps and I even Nathan is communicative but recently I didn’t hear from him. Their newsletter said check out the bundle tunes and submit a ticket if you don’t see them there. I did and didn’t hear from him since.

Edit:

Im working with Nathan on getting the Launch control settings dialed in. tried some new settings for him last night but now I seem to be getting blocked by a torque limit that is too low. For now the brake snip can be used totally fine if you have it, but Im hoping that by the time we get the ECU launch dialed in, it will be very consistent.
Hi!)
Did you manage to finish making ecu launch control for kia stinger 3.3 awd?

Hi.
I'm already running JB4, map4&5. My setup is BMS intakes, HKS gaped to 0.022. Fuel is Europen 98 or 100 octan.
I've just ordered my EK1 and want to go with BMS BEF. I attached my logs.

What do you think, which tune should it start?

Best Regards

You don't need BEF or at least extra timing from BEF is what these log tells us. WMI is what you needed for pushing more timing for your situation.Your log is already not 100% clean here for map5 so I assume the knock limitation is not far. 19deg BEF comes with tons of more mid end timing. It will simply make the log way noisier and your car will ended up with more timing pull and less power output than what you are right now. 17deg might be fine with your map4 but you're able to run map5 at the moment so this boost to timing trade might be worthless.

Your best luck would be email Terry your ECU calibration ID and ask him to make you a "Pump BEF". It runs almost same amount of timing but got the AFR dialed and you can ask for 9deg timing at shift to make it slightly quicker too.

Also your 98/100 Ron fuel is very good and your log is really clean at the moment. I'm jealous badly.

I never thought about WMI. Today I saw on map0, that I have some timing deviation 0.8-1.5. I'm not sure if it is some adaptation or spark plug problem, I'll observe it.

From things I read, it's not only about psi- people claim, that after BEF cars feel better and run faster even with a lower map.

I'll start with 17deg. Always I can mix fuel with 99% alcohol to clean logs- we don't have 85 here :)
