RIP my Stinger

Simon, I enjoyed your posts and your time on the forum was cut too short by an unfortunate decision. Sometimes that's all it takes - one bad decision. I've made plenty in my lifetime and got lucky that most of them didn't ruin my life completely, etc. There's a lot of finger wagging in this thread and I doubt all of those fingers are attached to saints.

Enjoy the new car and fresh perspective on life. DEFINITELY lawyer up, assuming this is your first such incident it's worth trying to get it brushed away in lieu of hefty fines and/or other plea. First time offense that didn't seriously injure/kill anyone shouldn't ruin your life. Also, there's a difference between doing something stupid and something intentionally negligent. You clearly didn't set out that night to crash your car, so it's a shit happens situation. Beat yourself with a feather, welcome to being human.

Fwiw, the fact the blood test wasn't definitive the day of the incident and had to be 'sent away' leaves a lot of room for the lawyer to cast reasonable doubt. I'd expect, in the hands of a qualified defense lawyer, the charges to get reduced or tossed out altogether.

Whole situation was weird honestly! I definitely made the bad mistake and took it as just another sleepless night! Definitely gave me a new perspective on life and also what could possibly happen ima blink of an eye! I should be getting my results soon but definitely getting a attorney soon. All I have on my record is a speeding ticket besides this so I’ll keep y’all posted.

You got more than you paid.... I don't think that would ever happen in Australia lol. Could be wrong though.

Glad things seem to be falling in your favour after your incident. Don't fall asleep on the bike! Done it once. It doesn't end well
I didn’t think that was possible with all the wind lol!!!! Yeah I got the car for 28k getting for the price it’s worth now which is 31
All I know is that if I was to ever get a bike, Id want the Honda cbx 1050, just for the orgasmic sound.

LFA-esque.
lfa-esque sounds very interesting I will look it up! Lfa is sexyyyyy

Dont get an r6! I mean do if you want but i recomend either a Triumph 675 Daytona or a (less$$ than you think) early ducati 748

Just saying because i have had both but the 3 cylinder and v twin both have better torque bands that let you have fun below 100mph :p

R6 is nice tho
I will look at both!!!! I’m a noob still but willing to learn

I’m thinking of a cbr600rr. Not sure what year honestly. Going to be my first bike also lol. But I have a lot of people telling me if I get the 300 ima most likely want to sell and get the 600 pretty soon after

That's a lot of bike for a novice, over 100hp. Lots of elements come together when riding. Those small cc engines rev up real quick. In a panic, you could find yourself in a lot of trouble. You should start on something smaller (power wise). Also, being a full blown sport bike, it's not the most comfortable. I believe you said you were in your 20's elsewhere, so comfort may not be so important at this stage.

However, as a sport bike, it's real sensitive to inputs. Again, lack of experience will get you into trouble. Get a used 300/400cc twin with 30-50hp, figure out what you're doing for a few years, then get what you really want.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I only say get a smol bike because it is a very accepted fact that you can ride a 250 at level 11 all the time and not die and its great for learning.... it will do 110 and can corner just as well as a 600 with a decent rider.

Safety classes are fun too for yoyr endorsment.
I just feel nervous when new riders have big bikes. A few friends are dead because of big bikes.....

yeah lol!!! i was thinking the same honestly. i forgot what bike i was looking at exactly but i have found a couple sport bikes that cost around 4-6k. its around 50hp which would be pretty good for me to learn good on and also drop without feeling shitty about it. the 600 seems like a lot to me also but the amount of people that say i'm going to want to sell my bike for aa 600 in the first 6 months is a lot lol.

Ok well first bike... buy a ninja 250 or an r3
Just sayin....
i will look into the r3!

100% going to take riding classes for more experience! yeah same lol. really is alot of bike. my plan was to first get something around half the hp then sell it and buy a cbr600

What ever you end up buying, make sure you can reach all the controls well and flat feet when standing still. Dropping (lowering) a bike is usually ill-advised. It changes the handling characteristics (less ground clearance), which can lead to dragging parts or even loss of control when cornering fast.

Note, don't forget to extend side stand before getting off the bike... Else bike will come down with you! Don't ask how I know.

If you move from Haywood CA come back and tell us where to. We deserve to know what city's streets to avoid.

Which bike you getting?

A buddy just picked up a ktm1290 adventure... That thing is a beast! Something like 160 or 170hp at the wheel.

Yup he just crashed his car so lets get him on a crotch rocket as quick as possible. Less chance of no injury.

Come on, the car crash was a result of poor judgement. Now if the OP has a pattern of making bad decisions, then perhaps he should just stick to public transportation or a bicycle.

Early 20’s! He has many bad/poor decisions ahead of him. Best not put a rocket between his legs before he grows up a bit more. But hey in all honesty I don’t think he was under the influence or drunk per say and has maybe been beaten up a bit much regarding. Nonetheless falling asleep behind the wheel is not good and demonstrates a lack of judgment on our young friends part. He doesn’t sound like an idiot but more like a responsible young man and I’m sure a lesson has been learned and I for one hope his lawyer does a great job for him.

I'm guessing the completely illogical switch to a motorcycle is due to the inevitably large increase in his insurance cost.

Death pool, anyone?

Echoing another member's thoughts on bikes and why I've never owned one...

I had an acquaintance (mid 20s, very active basketball player) get into an accident on his bike. Not his fault, car just pulled right in front of him. He was expecting a huge settlement/judgment. He went from slam dunking to wheelchair, and after a few months of this rolled himself to a small local bridge and pulled himself over the edge into the drink. Stories like this come up from time to time regarding motorcycle accidents. With the inattentiveness of drivers ever increasing (this was 20 years ago) I can't see ever feeling safe or that I wouldn't die at any second when there's other cars on the road. IMHO, people who value their life don't introduce any incalculable risk into it. Statistically, motorcycle fatalities are common when there is an accident when compared to same type of accident in a 4 wheel vehicle. There's no cage around a biker, no air bags. The helmet only helps at low speed impacts. No thanks.

my co-worker just got a street glide special which is a amazing bike!! i really want a dyna but would def enjoy a sport bike for the time being! i would prefer to have both my feet flat on the ground but i doubt i will on the cbr. he said its fine to just learn how to be on one foot on the ground and on on the peg but i don't know tbh. ive ridden before a handful of times but it was more of a dirt bike style bike.

yeah honestly what happened was stupid and me thinking i can run on no sleep like always. i would consider myself as a very cautious driver so I'm not to worried about me crashing on the bike but more of someone hitting me honestly. i know what i did was stupid but then again i didn't expect to fall asleep. ive done the same alot but it finally caught up to me. sucks but definitely have learned to just pull over and get a nap or do something to help me in the situation instead of just toughing it out. def need to be more careful tho! i will most likely start with a ninja 400.

I've never hit anyone or anything till my recent crash but i have gotten one speeding ticket lol. it was a empty road heading from the bay area to la. super flat and straight but sadly a hidden cop caught me. besides all that just a parking ticket.

i am currently 23! it was def a lack of judgement honestly. i know more mistakes are going to come. learning the hard way is the best way at certain times and this one will definitely stick with me. I'm just waiting on results still. so far my case looks like it will be dismissed but it is still to soon to say confidently.

my coworker said she is willing to pay for my health insurance if she's the benif lolllool..

yeah insurance is def going up. i can afford it but the more i think about it the less i feel up for doing it lol. i originally was planning on getting one before i even bought the stinger. bought the stinger because it was such a good price to not buy. i only owe a bit left on the car which insurance will cover so i now mainly see it as my opportunity to get the bike i wanted.

insurance will be a pain tho if im being honest
