• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Kia Stinger - Australia discussions (pre-release)

Yea it's super expensive given what we were thinking, but what are the alternatives other than an SSV. I can't think of anything that has the performance, luxury, size and looks that is even close in price. You'd have to step up to the euros.

Any suggestions as to other like for like options instead of the stinger?

Its not RWD but I think the Skoda superb sportline might be something to look at if I were you.

Are you getting the 2.0T in Australia? I wanna know the pricing for that model.

Yip I've looked at that. Not enough power, and as you said not RWD, but it could be an option. I'll stay in the Stinger camp for now though.

DISSAPPOINTED to say the least!!
FRUSTRATED , ANNOYED, PISSED OFF and Good luck to KIA!.....

Honestly I didnt get the impression they strung anyone along. I think their Korean prices reflected what we might be looking at and I am surprised at the amount of abuse they are copping. I might be the odd man out. I will say however that the prices advised (especially for the SI and GT) should have included the optional exhaust. I think $65k drive-away with everything in it including the exhaust would have been a good contender for the Stinger. 70k is a bit much.

However with all the people cancelling their pre-order, why dont you guys do two things:
1. Wait to see what options and specs actually pan out to be; you might not need the 'top' version- maybe you can spec it up and it will be less in price?
2. Some of you have already mentioned this- wait for the hype to die and pick one up in a little while (assuming you can).

Good luck to everyone and I am sad to see that so many enthusiastic people have had their hopes hammered a bit. I must have really missed the brief as I think the main conversation that Kia was having was to bring the V6 in below 50K which they have done. I dont think you can expect them to load up a car with this type of performance and specs and sell the GT for $55k drive away, that's madness- they have to make money.

Well I too am VERY disappointed with the final price and that still doesn't include the after market exhaust..........

My deposit still stands (at this stage), but I am seriously looking at what is out there for that money even if its 2016, 2017 demo........

Nailed it really!!

Not really

There is nothing really wrong with the price IMO

It's the fact Kia were not upfront with the price and let magazines and dealers quote $55K

If they had said the price upfront a lot of us would not have placed a preorder

Kia have shot themselves and all the people who preordered in the foot by not being upfront

Did KIA say that it would be the top spec GT @ $55k or just the v6?

TOP SPEC GT $59990

I have not cancelled mine yet, and letter was just an idea. I have already sent the letter and spoke to my dealer and he was shocked this morning when i TOLD HIM THE PRICE.
wHY, COS HE DID KNOW THAT THE PRICE WAS RELEASED!!!!!

Anyway he said to hold on and will look into it!
So I wait, again, to see what they have to offer.

No harm in asking for a better deal.

The problem is there's no Price on the webpage Kia site.

Check it out if anybody finds it.
I think it was a letter but through one of their pages on the site that's hidden/not accesible unless through a link!

Im with skyguy on this . Its still the best value for a brand new car. Also why have some of you not considered the low spec v6 3.3? You will still get the looks and the go . Might be an option?
Value can be a lot of things, for example badge, resale, led headlights, an ashtray ;) , heated seats, finance, tyre brand, even who you end up buying it from.
It most certainly is a very compelling value/luxury/performance car option. Just not what they had originally said it was going to cost for the cream-of-the-crop GT. So that is the reason for all the WTF going on right now from some of us. I'm sure we'll calm down and come to our senses (me too).
If it was possible to consider anything else (other models in range) most of us might look further or again, great option .... but because none of it exists yet, not even in brochures, how do you suppose we do that .... I know ... wait, so I've decided to do just that. Pretty sure they'll be there when I'm ready to look again.
