Guys... many talk about just boost. Boost isnt all that counts. I can be quite shure that 1,7-1,8 bar of boost will not make the car faster compared to 1,5. When you go thruu gears and shift you probably dont go under 4.500 rpm when shifting. What you do when you put on boost at lower Rpm is just torque which is what kills an engine and also gearbox. Just shift down instead and wot at the right rpm. We have stock rods, pistons, small turbos that will go on its edge. Also fuel is a limit for us.
I would like to have some tuner do an HPFP upgrade with also injectors som we could run 100% E85, then a tuned stock ECU will do wonder as we can have som more ignition but it also needs scaled fuel maps. Anyone that can produce a cheaper pump?
Yes, there is benefits will an ECU tune. You can scale all tables like fuel that then can have a wider range inclusive enrichment, you can fine tune ignition in that range you have add boost and so on. And of course a tuned ECU will communicate inside with all parameters.
But JB4 is a very good Piggy, it can do all that we want with all bolts on that most of us have. Its easy to change, tune, drive different maps and so on. There is of course some things that I would have but I wait it for coming and stay with JB4, the hardware in engine (with bolt ons) is what it is and no one could do magic there.
Most different tune up will be TCU, probably even for a stock Stinger. But of course a mild boost increase will do. I have test JB4 map 3-5-6-7 with all bolts on, like inlet, filter, chargepipe, exhaust, DP with race C...s, big IC, WMI and these 4 maps will be like the same in times when doing Dragy. Can be changes back to back of 1/10 th of a second. Like when hot weather the map 3 has benefits to the other with higher boost and thats because Turbo limits.
I will go to my friends new Mustang Dyno soon and compare, measure different boost, with or without WMI and so on. Dont take this post wrong now. A good ECU tuned are good of course but still JB4 will do about the same thing. Lozic guys seems to be good tuners! No doubt about that!
But have anyone looked in to Motec for Stinger? There you can have a more local tuner make the tune just for you and also it will hold for a long time if you do hardware changes with engine. Cars is fun but also about the costs...
Best of luck from Sweden!
