I've been burned by AliExpress before and I'm not going to pay 1k for the Borla stuff...surely someone would think to make these by now that aren't just Chinese drop shipments that happened to fit?
Do you have Borla tips or alibarber Ovals like the the stock tip?I took mine on a canyon run, and the tips measured around 280-300 degrees Celcius and some melting occured of the plastic.
I have removed the second cat though, so this could definitely have some impact to heat.
I'd be surprised if he had the Borla tips doing this.Do you have Borla tips or alibarber Ovals like the the stock tip?
Yeah I will let you know when I receive my tips, Hey I see you running the BMS diff brace. Did you notice much of a difference?I've been burned by AliExpress before and I'm not going to pay 1k for the Borla stuff...surely someone would think to make these by now that aren't just Chinese drop shipments that happened to fit?
No, the stainless steel oval to mimic the stock look. Pretty sure the Borla tips do not connect and simply for looks so heating impact minimised to some degree.Do you have Borla tips or alibarber Ovals like the the stock tip?

I got the tips as the Borla + Jun BL is a really loud setup, so reduces incabin noise significantly (still hear it, but absolutely screams on the outside).

Hi , just so I understand , you have the borla exhaust system and you installed those tips from Ali express and they fit in the stock openings and clamp right on to the end of the borla exhaust ? And you have no drone at all ?One Piece Oval Model For Akrapovic Universal Car Exhaust Tips Glossy Carbon Fiber + Stainless Steel Tips Muffler End Pipes

oval tips,
Hahah that definitely will be interesting with Ali express. Not sure why (as I typically like full chrome delete) but I really liked the stock so went with the stainless. I might just take them off and sand the melting to make it smooth when I goto sell the car (then clean up the sanding). Overall, it didn't melt heaps but definitely did melt so something for people getting stainless to think about.@Nockalous These are the tips I have on order from Ali, I know a guy who’s had them on for over a year without issue, he said the outside carbon only gets a little warm but we will see if it catches fire!
That will be a fun warranty claim ha ha!
Will do cheers Mate!Hahah that definitely will be interesting with Ali express. Not sure why (as I typically like full chrome delete) but I really liked the stock so went with the stainless. Let me know how your carbons go!
To save people a lot of reading I will condense what I have learned here for the oval tips:
If you want the carbon fiber look order these: [URL=' 18% OFF|Car styling Oval Slanted Carbon black Exhaust Tips Glossy muffler Exhaust tip For Akrapovic Carbon muffler pipes Tailpipe trims|Exhaust & Exhaust Systems| select the size under the "Color" drop down menu. The carbon fiber ones can not be powder coated since the process will melt the wrap on them. Order the stainless steel ones if you want to powder coat them to a different style.
If you want the stainless steel look or want a different look via powder coating order these using the same instructions as above:

I also found these that are the carbon fiber look but red & black patterned carbon fiber print instead of all black:

I have been trying to find glossy black ones but have had no luck. Glossy black would blend perfectly with the trim on the Stinger! Let me know if you find any! For now I purchased the stainless steel ones and will get them powder coated glossy black.
I hope this helps everyone and saves them 41 pages of reading if they wanted oval tips!!!
Sorry its winter and car needs a wash but you get the idea. I gave the stock tips a light sanding, masked off around them and sprayed with 2 coats of BBQ paint. Still looks the same as when I did it for free 2 years ago and no more exhaust mess to clean up.Looking for some suggestions on Exhaust Tips that are available now and not crazy prices. I’ve obviously seen the Borla tips that were shown at SEMA but they look like they’ll be out my price range.
I have considered powdercoating the OEM ones black from a previous post but would like to see what is out there.
Thanks!
51mm.What is the inlet size with the original exhaust system? Is it 51 or 57?
And the circular outlet with a size of 76 is suitable for a problem better than a size of 89. What do you think?
Thank you
Tnx51mm.
76mm round is pretty small. It will look tiny inside the diffuser. If you want round tips you'd be better of trimming the diffuser slightly and going with 89mm outlet.
Oval is better though. They fit without trimming.
If it's just tips, all you do take the fake ones out of the bumper, they're just screwed in. If you got the right sized tips, they just slide of the end of the exhaust. Is there an install video? I see a lot of information but no install video for help. Do people just take it to local shops? Would like to see install on MBRP. I just got the tips for them.
It’s very straight forward, if you have a lift, it’s easier, a little harder if on stands, due to the limited space to work with.Is there an install video?
