Navigation Update V14 due out April 20, 2020

No option for me to download the update - just purchase the SD card. Download only available for newer model years in the US. My 2018 is no longer eligible? The purchase price was ~$35 delivered - so cheap compared to past software updates. STILL - appalled they even charge for software updates!! I can understand navigational - but NOT software. This is my biggest complaint for purchasing this car. Am I the only one thinking this? db

To be honest, I think it's not bad considering they're sending a physical item to you. I'd say just wait till the other update site from Kia opens

Is there any reason why we need to purchase it from Kia?

It probably just a Linux file system and there is free software available over the internet to create a Linux file system on an sd card.

Has anyone looked at what file system is on the sd card?

It would be cheaper if you had the download option available otherwise you'll have to pay for the priviledge of them downloading it on to a Kia sd card and mailing it to you. Unfortunately, it looks like only Canadians seem to be getting the free download option for v14.

You can use any SD card over 32Gb. I installed the update on a new card, put the one that came with my car away as an emergency backup should the one in use fails.

I tried, didn't let me do that; you'll need your SD Card.

No, the installer is also the download application.

Should just be the "SD" thing in the middle of the center console. It's a door that pops opened.

I was told back in fall of '18 that I get one free update. Looks like "my" free update is going to include anyone else who is interested. When it comes out. If it comes out.

I want any map updates. But I am not interested in anything else. Is this NAV update going to impact the media? I don't want any changes to my USB accessibility. Etc.

"Improved", how, exactly? Hopefully there isn't any fubar relating to folder access, as happened between updates in 2018.

I wonder if the free download option will ever come to the USA...

I see several people have given up hope and purchased the SD card from Kia. It's tempting, but I've already purchased a blank SD card in anticipation of the free download and don't want that to be a waste. Guess I'll keep waiting.
