Navigation Update V14 due out April 20, 2020

What's from stopping us Americans from downloading the Canadian version?!

There may be differences in the way things work.. Canadian Stingers have a button on the mirror to enable a "google" search that we don't, for example. May work, may not work, may partially work..

Anyone know if we buy the SD card, can we make a copy and pass it around to others? Or is each one encoded with a serial number / VIN #?

When they released the previous update, the Canada release was several weeks after the U.S. one. This time around they had issues with the download option for Canada, which delayed the free download option for quite a while, even after the actual update was ready and available for purchase on the SD card.

I wouldn't think the U.S. download option will be very much longer. Send them an online query and ask - they were pretty good about responding to the couple of times I contacted them.

I can wait until July as they originally estimated.

Is this highlighted portion new for any of you guys? I don't recall seeing that before. PROGRESS???

It also makes me wonder if it REQUIRES the existing media card...

I too am waiting to be able to download.

It is coming in July only.

I don't notice any changes to the ordering page.
Same.
I checked for curiosity, and didn't see a way for USA to download.

Maybe someone can share a screenshot?

Okay, I just stumbled in here, and I am confused.

1. Will the new map data download direct to the vehicle? OR do I have to order an SD card from Kia with the update already on it?
2. If it will update to a new blank card, what size card do I need?
3. The instructions show a different (lower) version number than my current version to use to confirm the update (?)

Waitaminute. Now I see in the FAQ's that the update is downloaded to the customer's SD card via his PC ... then the post above mine says there's no place to download it on the map update page yet.

Maybe that's my answer.

The main difference is the Canadian one is a little more polite, and says sorry, and eh a lot...:rofl::rofl:
"Turn right...sorry for being so direct eh."

Their use of "USB" is telling. Despite what others have claimed, non-navigation GT owners have no SD slot, so updating the firmware via USB I think will be the only way to do it. Whether only dealers will have access to a USB update remains to be seen.
