• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia Bi-Modal Exhaust Updates

It’s a pretty involved task. The latest version is easier from what I hear. The previous generation required removal of the dashboard to pick up the various signals/feeds. I have a document somewhere that outlines the fitment of the old version. I will see if I can dig it out and post it up. I think they need to remove the rear bumper as well. Certainly worth it. I’m glad I chose to have it fitted as it actually now has a note to it.
Yep, I had mine fitted as part of the deal and it took them almost the whole day, as you say it involves the DASH, bumper and a whole lot of patience

Someone stated on this forum that the newer bi-modals didn't require this but obviously that is not right.

Not 100% sure, but they had it all day for the exhaust

No dash removal for newer version as it's tapped into electrics in boot. How do I know? I asked the KIA mechanic who usually works on my car and also does the exhaust installs.

Yes that's what I thought but Pumbaa just got his car and sounds like they had to remove the dash for an install.

Maybe installed the original version.

Yup, the newer version is " Plug n' play " as far as I know

That would be great to have a read off

Found the Install Instructions, which I gather is the first version.

Have to check with Pumbaa....Pumbaa??
I'll ask on Monday, car is going for its 1 month/3000 km service... Looks like there is a newish/modified fuse in the boot section, so maybe they did not remove the dash?

I have the Bi-Modal fitted and i love it, as it does have it's own deeper sound and for me i still wanted the car to be quiet on the inside and be able to growl when needed. If you want the growl (and drone) you can pull the wiring outta fuse holder which i've done before but trade off is the drone at certain revs. Though in sports mode the down shifts sound way better :). I have put fuse back in again and i know if if i want the hoon to come out in me its 10's of work to do it, if you can get to drive 1 and you can hear difference..I personally could;nt have car without the exhaust.

Thanks for the info

When does the butterfly open? Is it always closed in comfort mode?
Do you notice any increase in power? I have read it's about 10hp, which is less then a 10% increase, which suggests to me that you would not notice anything.

Does anyone know of any dealers, near ryde, that have a stinger with the bi model exhaust fitted, that I can take for a drive to hear what it sounds like? I have seen videos but it's hard to tell.

Wow..no wonder it's $1000 to install on top of the $2000 for the actual bi model exhaust. It all makes sense now.

Thanks for the info.

The information on the butterfly is on the last page of the installation instructions posted by yummittman.

Generally a dealer will only fit a bi-modal after an order has been placed. As for any HP gains I think the result is zero. Happy for you to hear mine, just send me a private message to arrange.

Thanks Shannon, I would love to hear your exhaust. How do I send you a PM?

I just cannot find a button anywhere!

Hi, at the top of the page next to your Avatar is an envelope, click on that and you can send a conversation to Shannon.

It's the "Start a conversation " button I checked you do have one on your profile. Whether you can use it yet or not I'm not sure? Sometimes takes 15 posts up before you can attach or pm. Maybe @ShannonC can pm you.

Sent a PM on Monday

Hi Fameangel,
When I click on the envelope icon, all it does is show a list of conversations. There is no option to send a PM. Maybe when I reach 15 posts it might magically appear...

I have a couple of months before my first 3 month service. I called the service center and asked them if they do an oil change at that service and they told me it is mainly an inspection to check everything is good. I was hoping to get the exhaust fitted then, if I like the exhaust sound. It looks to me that the exhaust is really good quality and I like that.
