Ah maybe I should update the firmware on mine good point.
You should, pretty straightforward. Have you seen the new one the r7? That thing is nice. My R3 has saved my reckless ass more than one time tho lol.

Yes. Enough chatter let's not derail the thread.
Your right. Good idea. So you where saying that the Borla is raspy? Is that because the pipes don't quite reach the tips and the sound bounces around back there ? What about the MBRP, do the end pipes reach the tips and does the sound bounce around back there?

I think the rasp has to do more with the sound profile of the exhaust itself. Not anything to do with where the sound is exiting. The Borla and MBRP as I can tell have a little sound leakage under the trunk as it barely reaches the exhaust tips but can still allow for sound to exit backward from the exhaust exit (Just how soundwaves work).

I'd say the sound still bounces back a bit with the MBRP. Tips will still help in any scenario I think since the sound will bounce off the bumper instead of being let under the trunk. I'll see if I can get some more pictures/videos, probably going to order some oval tips like the others have in this thread. Although I really want gloss black and not carbon matte. There is gloss carbon... Which might do.

Not true you can remove the tips by removing the rear diffuser. WestcoastGT and I did it on his when he painted his tips. And believe you me..we did not take the exhaust off or even touch it for that matter.

You can take the mufflers off , which is much better than the diffuser for this job... anyway, if I was you, I would just do it when you do the exhaust. That’s how I did it and I don’t see why you shouldn’t if you have both parts.

20191012_105311.webp 6 weeks later, done (including tips)!

Hardest part was doing it in a single car garage on ramps and jack stands.

That's the reason I was asking. The tips have been ordered but not shipped yet. I have the exhaust in hand. Since I'm having someone do the exhaust install, I was thinking I could just do the tips myself once they come in. But it the exhaust needs to be removed to remove the stock tips from the bumper, then I might as well just wait to get it all done at once.

You could also get the shop to remove your stock ones and just go without tips until your replacements arrive.

Good option. I know I'd be too impatient to wait for the tips if I already had the exhaust!

Precisely my plan! Getting a quote right now on the job. Lots of mods coming, some performance and some aesthetic.

It took me a while to get the tips, it was like three weeks. Just don't get discouraged if you get some noticeable drone because the tips are going to make a big difference in that department.

Yup, that's what I'm hearing from other fellow owners. Everyone is saying the installation of the tips make a huge difference in drone. I just can't wait till she starts breathing a little easier. Already installed new intakes.

Just took a good road trip 400ish miles. Def going to order some tips. The drone at 2k is very noticeable under load. It's fine when coasting but even maintaining speed its noticeable.

I'm taking a 1600 mile road trip (round trip) in a few days! I hope the tips minimize the drone. So far, it has seemed fine around town. The 2K-3K rpm range seems the loudest in the cabin, but it's not that reverberating hum that I would consider drone.

Let us know. Cruising at 70-80 is at 1.8-2k rpm. So as long as it's fine cruising that's good. I'm OK with it loud if I'm accelerating. Not ok if just at a cruising speed I hear it drone/making noise. I'll also report back once my tips are in and of they make a difference.

Ok I'm waiting for your feedback after tips to decide if I order it. Heard only praises so far but what you described is exactly what got me sell my 2 previous exhausts.. so I am really curious about how the tips are going to improve this.

So what tips are you guys using with the MBRP. I went back a few pages but had no luck. Thanks

Ordered my tips a few weeks ago it should be here soon I wish they had them in amazon.
