Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Kept hearing a rattle on the passenger's side (not sure how that works out "down under") and happen to glance over and see it is the seat belt buckle hitting the side pillar when I go over rough spots or turn sharp, re positioned and it disappeared, however, buckle seems to find it's way back, so I changed the position of the adjustment in the side pillar and that seemed to do it -- any suggestions.
Since I cannot post links yet. Search for seat belt anti scratch protection

I am having the same issue om my '18 GGT2. Going to stop at dealer tomorrow.

Left turn signal does not turn off on its own about a third of the time for me but it's failing more often with time. It's going to the dealer next week.

This rates as a "bad" interesting discovery. Last evening I saw something dangling below my diffuser. It turned out to be some anti corrosion foam sprayed on around the outer edges of the battery box. That was annoying enough; but the subsequent discoveries are aggravating and mysterious; so far, without answers.

Here's what a spanking new battery box below a GT2 looks like:

I've now, today, discovered what it is supposed to look like. Notice the grommet and the extended "plug" (the black end turns but does not come off that I can see; and what is for, who in the heck knows and can tell me??).

And here's what mine looks like:

Clearly we have a different "arrangement" here! Ya think!? First off, what is that black spray paint about!? Clearly it was there before any of this crap happened (whatever that crap was, where, when and WHO did this): look at the three large and two small scrapes in the black paint? Shiny and new. This must have occurred since winter ended. I've been to "my" dealer service department twice since then: once in March and in the middle of April. Could have happened then. It is a backing up accident. We know this because of the direction of the scrapes: two parallel ones with the far lateral one. There is no way to make those marks going forward: because the rest of the undercarriage and exhaust pipes are lower than the bottom of the battery box.

So, if you like, have at it and theorize for me: how did this happen? And who would spray black paint on the battery box bottom, and why; and when could that have happened? The paint has nada to do with the damage, which occurred since the black spray paint was applied.

Finally, what is that low hanging "plug" thingie for? Anybody?

When Coasting mode is enabled and you actually are coasting (as indicated by RPM drop and "Coasting" appearing in display) activating the turn signal (in addition to lightly touching the brake or gas pedals) will terminate coasting and re-engage the transmission.

Don't let 70 year old farts tell you what's fashionable! That piece does the job in preventing plastic scratches and dents and applies easily and fits just fine.

I have my first material flaw, at c. fourteen months! :p Many of you have probably seen this one from last year (haven't heard of a repeat complaint in months). I maintained that it was likely caused by vibration from a rattling hatch. But no. This little corner of acrylic (I am assuming that is the material) liner under the spoiler started to work its way out and enough of it was showing finally that I saw it: and pushed it back in with the edge of a wash pass card. :D (On the rattling hatch as cause: it isn't, but it could make this happen sooner.)

So I had a situation where the car was complaining about door/hatch/seatbelt and would let me put it in gear until I fastened my seatbelt has only happened one time.

Is there a way to remove preset radio stations from the menu? I added XM stations as a preset and now the free year is over and I want to remove them.
Just find a new station, then hold and drag it over the one you want removed.

Yep, had this since Day 1 in the car. Every time someone gets out of the car, the belt gets caught on the large seat bolster and doesn't return to "normal" hanging position. There is no way to fix the source of the problem, so I just bought a small self-adhesive black velcro patch and stuck only the soft/fuzzy side right where the metal buckle hits the plastic door pillar trim. Problem solved with only a barely noticeable patch on the trim.

Ah Ha ! :) thinking of large round felt self adhesive furniture slide in black ;) Many thanks

So I found out today that if you park and idle long enough without moving, the tire pressure screen will blank out and revert back to "drive to display".

In case you're not familiar with them, the sensors have a small battery inside them that only powers the sensor up when the wheel is spinning. That way it's only "working" when you're actually driving the car and saves battery life.
