• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Eibach Sways & Springs

Another year family still haven't called me for it

But thanks mate, appreciate it. 28 years of joint deterioration...but free medical hey? ;)

Just to bring it back on topic.
The sways will improve your ride immensely but we have found the soft setting is best for australian roads. The springs however do have issues not only with the ride height being too low and you scrape the front on curbs, but also the camber of the wheels which causes tire wear. I would suggest you get the sways first but get front and back , and see how you feel about the ride. Talk to ozstung about his springs he fitted as know he is not happy with them to the point he may remove them completely.
Your call its just advice form experience.

Mate please tell me if I should get the springs and your issues etc if they have been ironed out or not

They haven't, bad tire wear low ride and squirly ride with just springs alone.

The ride is comfortable and the lowered look is good. Whilst i was getting the quotes for the installation of sways the car was on the hoist. Then a some what inexperienced technician told me he couldn't adjust the camber. On inspection the inner part of the tyres are wearing rapidly.

The second place i visited indicated he could adjust the camber. If that is correct then ill be happy, i prefer the ride and the look with the eibach springs.

I didn't opt for a wheel alignment then as ill need one at the time of swaybar installation hopefully at a reduced price.

Whether suspension place 1 or 2 is correct i don't know.

You won't buy them cheaper they've been on my radar since all the positive reviews from here. I also was a passenger in @Stinger GT SS car when we did some pretty heavy duty steep cornering. To a newbie i think we mostly agree this is mod No.1.

Im a waiting for my third quote at the moment for the stays installation. Once i get the last one ill post here. Looking to be Tuesday if not Wednesday.

Wasn't a mater of cost, it was, did I have enough spare cash to get them this month? but yes I will get the sways for the money they are cheap and simple to install in an hour or so.

I may be new to this forum, however I've probably forgotten more about cars, tuning, chassis tuning, general mechanics, vehicle restoration, re-manufacturing, and custom fabrication than most will ever know. ;):D I wont be servicing the Stinger, which will go back to KIA, because I got the first 3 years scheduled servicing paid for in the cost of the car. But that doesn't mean I wont be learning and experimenting with it. Fact remains after 8 days the sways are well and truly justified, I've only done 600km. I would not lower this car though, definitely not required for a GT car or the stinger IMHO.

Cheers Oz.

Hey stung,

I pinched this from another post, see those silver bolts with what looks like offset flat washers next to the exhaust pipe?
They adjust the rear camber. so yes it can be you need a better wheel aligner.

Paul.

Thanks Paul, yep the suspension guy showed me those bolts and said the guy who did your springs didn't adjust them as the factory yellow paint markers still line up from there original factory setting.

At this stage im still waiting a call for an aligner to ring me with his group price buy. I assume he's waiting for his bosses approval?

Its going to very useful having you in "House" we might lean on you as our technical guru:D

Can I ask why you like the springs lowered? And how much were your springs plus installation?

And can I ask why you wouldn't? Haha

I like the lowered stance look.

The eibachs have a comfortable less wallowing feel.

It cost me $550 including and a supposed wheel alignment, it was his first stinger spring change i think i got charged for 5 hours of labour.

Ok thanks mate...so looks like we might get a sick deal with installation for both through this group buy?

I didn’t require a wheel alignment for the Sway Bar change over, steering is still perfect & tyre wear is good.

I would expect a wheel alignment would be required with the lowering springs as this alters the camber which explains your excessive tyre wear & I would expect that should have been done as a matter of course by the suspension place you had install them.

Can someone avoid how it voids warranty? I really am looking forward to 7 years warranty.

After driving behind @Ozstung on our last drive to the Hunter Valley I can tell you the camber in those rear tyres looked extreme, they were jutting out at an angle and must be chewing through the inner side of the tyres pretty well. I know camber can be adjusted but given the cost of replacement tyres I can’t say I’m a fan. Also whilst I liked the look of the lowered Stinger there were several times where I thought he was going to bottom out on pretty normal roads with no real extreme dips, it must be a nightmare getting in and out of driveways and parking spaces without scraping the bottom. To be fair I didn’t drive in his car so I don’t know how it feels or changed the ride compared to stock I’m just making observations from what I saw while following him. I don’t think the lowered springs are for me.

Thanks mate....I might avoid it then too unless ozstung has something good to say hahhah

First off just stick with the sway bars change for starters, drive it for a while then decide if you want to progress with lowering springs etc.
IMHO the car is low enough & the sway bars eliminated all the twitchiness & instability feel in the rear & now the car runs on rails in all corners & under hard acceleration.

It's settled then. Just sway bars for me please sir. :)

My dealer fitted my sways & stated that they would not cover any premature wear in associated suspension components, I don’t have a problem with that as they would have to prove it.
