• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Buy a MY18 Stinger now or Wait for the MY19 in September ?

Our cars did not come with puddle lights. The photos above are of Welcome Lights. Puddle lights are located under the door sills and can be retro-fitted provided you have time and expertise. There's a PDF on installation for those brave enough to attempt it.....I wouldn't!

How To Install Puddle Lights
I didn't think they were puddle lights. Cheers for clearing that up.

This was one of the reasons I delayed my purchase until the Model Year changed over.
I found the Model Year change over month from asking a dealer while test driving 2 months ago and the price of the MY19 was no different to the MY18 except I had to be patient.
Mine was 5k cheaper

Let me append to the end of my last response "...until I let the car broker negotiate a better price elsewhere." :)

$5K cheaper than the KIA web site "Drive away" is excellent and hopefully with all the accessories (if any) included.

Well never having this on a car before this what I assumed they are, anyway the light will still stop me stepping in a puddle at night though....lol

I just picked up my new Stinger GT from a Kia dealer today. The car is under lease for my work, with the price ($64,800 drive away with bimodal exhaust) negotiated via a broker. I specifically told the broker and dealer that the car needed to be MY19 so it would include the updates (better tyres, new screen etc.) but when I picked up the car it still had the older Continental tyres on. When I asked the dealer he said the
Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres are $500 extra. He even showed me a pricing list that did show them as an option. I've just driven the car home, 250kms from the dealer, to discover it also doesn't have the interior mood lighting promised on the MY19 brochure. I can live without the mood lighting but I'm wondering what else was left out. The first letter of the VIN is K (MY19) and manufacture date stamp is June 2018. Any ideas what is going on? The car is awesome otherwise, I just don't like the idea of getting ripped off and I have been waiting for a MY19 model since June.

Welcome aboard mate. Congrats on the new Stinger, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Can you update your location in your profile when you get the chance please.

As for not getting what you asked for, if they agreed to supply you an MY19 Stinger be it verbally or written then it would be a contract and they are in breach if they don’t supply what was agreed to. Easier to prove if it’s written but you’d still have a case. I’d go back to the dealer and tell them all the things that are missing. They have to supply them. As for the tyres being a $500 accessory that’s just bullshit. Look at the included features on the Kia.com.au website for the GT it clearly says Michelin Pilot Sport 4. Nothing about it being an upgrade. Also puddle lights, interior mood lighting and stainless steel luggage plate trim for the boot. None of those are included in the MY18. It seems they promised you a 19 and delivered an 18. If you’re in NSW and get no joy from the dealership I’d make inquiries with the Department of Fair Trading, or you could look up the ACCC website, I know they deal with vehicle manufacturers because they’ve smashed both Holden and Ford recently over various issues.

What’s the build date on yours, the sticker is under the bonnet, I’ve just spent the day on a run with @FitR6, her car is a June 18 build, it has the ambient mood lighting & Continental Tyres. I know you may feel ripped off but it still a great car....enjoy.

My stinger gt build is July 18 and my19.

It has the new features with pics earlier in this thread.

The car is awesome and I've already put 500 kms on it because of how fun it is to drive.

My car's build date is June 18 and the VIN is MY19. The good news is I found my ambient lighting, it was just turned off for some reason.

It does look like the dealer has given me Continental tyres by 'mistake' though. I'll be chasing up Kia to replace them for the Michelin ones as they are worth a fair bit more - and I paid for them in the GT spec. I have Continental Sport tyres on my Audi S3 and go through a set every 12-18 months.

Otherwise, what a frigin fantastic car! I was going to buy a new Audi S5 until I heard about the Kia Stinger from John Cadogan on AutoExpert. As a former Audi fanboy, I can say the Stinger GT is every bit as good as the S5 and then some.... at half the price.

Do you have the puddle lights and the stainless steel inserts in the boot?

Yes I have the stainless steel inserts (see my previous post for pic) in the boot but haven't looked for the puddle lights.. I guess they're not to be mistaken for handle and side mirror lights outdoor lighting.... Will check and report back with a pic if it exists.

Welcome, that's a really good price for a new features plus bi-modal.

Look under the car for puddle lights. If they are fitted it's another thing you'll have to keep clean!

Same here, no puddle lights - at least not like the ones the American's seem to have. There is a light on the mirrors facing downwards and a door handle light. By all accounts, the 'puddle lights' are actually sold as an accessory ($300 plus install).

I wrote a cranky email to Kia asking why Dealers were selling cars without all the features advertised. Hopefully, they will resolve the issues by installing all the parts I paid for. I'll let you know how I go.

By the way, how does this bimodal exhaust work? I didn't get any paperwork with it and I didn't get a hand-over from the dealer. A Toyota car salesman handed me my keys and wished me luck... so I'm not sure how the bloody thing works.

Go back a few pages and you'll find the bimodal exhaust operational matrix I uploaded. It was provided to me on delivery... I insisted on it.
It should answer what you're after.

Thanks for the bimodal manual. The way I'm reading it is, as soon as you hit 70% throttle you get 'mad max' noises... except when in Eco mode. My neighbours thank you in advance too. I would never have used Eco mode otherwise.

I was wondering what the puddle everyone was talking about and realised that the puddle lights are standard... Do I speak to the dealer I purchased the car from, KIA or both?
