• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Buy a MY18 Stinger now or Wait for the MY19 in September ?

Our forum colleague @FitR6 has interior mood lighting, not sure about the other features you mention, she may confirm these, if not I will check it out on Saturday when we have a meet & drive day.
Yeah I remember her saying she had that but missed out on the Michelin tyres. Try and get some pics if you get the chance or hopefully @FitR6 could post some of the trim in the front where the light is when it’s off. I’m curious to see the difference between theirs and ours. I’m still of the belief it could be wired up easily enough, I’m not really sure the dealership service department gave me the right advice when I asked. Seems odd one has it as an MY18 and none of the others but it’s now being listed as standard on the website

No problem, I am also of the opinion that the interior mood lighting is in the car but just not “plugged in”. The reason I think this is, look at the wireless phone charging pad our US counterparts didn’t get, you can buy this, install it, plug it in & it’s fully functional.
Also I’m not getting the issues/negativity with the Continental Tyres, never had them before but I’m very happy with the ride & level of grip in wet & dry they give.

No Michelin Pilot sports on mine. Not sure about the puddle lights as I haven't paid it any attention ... I don't think so though. Will have to have a look.

I haven’t had any real issues with the Continentals either although I did get a bit of wheel spin going from 3rd to 4th after booting it off the line at traffic lights in sports mode the other day. Still it was good to see the face of the bloke in the SS next to me :D

Interesting, if you have Continentals you would have puddle lights ie: lights in front door handles & under the side mirrors shining onto the ground, if you go out & unlock you car in the dark you should see this.
All of this evidence strengthens & reinforces my thought re: interior mood lighting is there & just needs to be plugged in, I wonder if your dealer activated/plugged it in.

I’ve got the mirror and door handle lights but I thought the puddle lights they are talking about are under the car. From the pics of the US version with puddle lights it looks like it’s coming from under the door sill

Lights in door handles yes. Side mirrors yes. Lol.

You keep getting me off the lounge to have a look. Lol

I thought the exact same thing. I went out to have a look and I have the same as you, and thought the same regarding the puddle lights being under as that's the pictures I saw online as well.

That’s really strange, I just double checked mine, light on the left is the drivers door handle, light on the right is underneath the side/wing mirror.

Agree, but the ones under our mirrors are still classed a puddle lights , the handles are courtesy lights.

Well shame you cannot make the run on Saturday, that would be a good drive for you.

Yeah I’m working tomorrow night so won’t get any sleep before the drive. As much as the adaptive cruise control and the lane keep assist virtually drives the car on its own I don’t think I trust it to do the trip while I snore in the drivers seat. Plus I want to enjoy the drive so probably should be awake lol

Our cars did not come with puddle lights. The photos above are of Welcome Lights. Puddle lights are located under the door sills and can be retro-fitted provided you have time and expertise. There's a PDF on installation for those brave enough to attempt it.....I wouldn't!

How To Install Puddle Lights

Looking at the Kia AU website they’re still listing as 2018 Stinger rather than MY19 but they’ve updated the list of features. The GT now has Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, puddle lights, interior mood lighting, and stainless steel luggage area sill plates. Everything else looks the same as the 2018 model. Have to say I’m slightly annoyed that less than 3 months after buying the car it’s been updated, and no mention of any pending updates by the dealer at the time of purchase. If they did it next year I wouldn’t care as much but so close after purchase I may have held off if I’d known.

This was one of the reasons I delayed my purchase until the Model Year changed over.
I found the Model Year change over month from asking a dealer while test driving 2 months ago and the price of the MY19 was no different to the MY18 except I had to be patient.
