Why did you choose stinger vs G70

Well from most videos it shows the G70 being faster in the quarter mile. Also I believe the stinger is around 300-400 lbs heavier.
It’s 70 lbs according to their official curb weights for the lightest trims.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either car, they're both great. But it sounds like you have very specific wants so I'll give you my thoughts.

As far as "WOW factor" I would say the Stinger turns more heads, it just has more striking styling IMO. If you like the idea of the underdog car that surprises people, then definitely go for the Stinger. My dad laughed when I told him I bought a Kia, then I took him for a ride...let's just say he wasn't laughing anymore and when we were done he pulled out his phone to video chat with his wife and show her the car while he raved about it. As far as the interior the Stinger interior is nice, it's not as nice as the G70 but the G70 is definitely not $8k nicer on the inside IMO.

We had a G70 run a 12.6 shortly after he bought the car a couple years ago. Completely stock, but the lightest trim of the 3.3 which was the rwd advanced. Just saying

I was a KIA owner for years. Loved the brand. Had an Optima, had a Sportage, and always wanted the Stinger. I also think the Stinger has a more aggressive sports sedan look than the G70.

What model G70 and Stinger are you looking at? That can make a HUGE difference in performance.

Definitely get the AWD if you want to go fast. It weighs more but it is SO much more reliable for traction. Trust me I have RWD and I regret it. I almost put it in the wall at the track because it was spinning the tires so much. The AWD guys never have any issues with traction at the track.

If you can do without the sunroof, better stereo, driver aides, heads up display...etc then get the base model V6 for either car. They are much faster then the top trims.

I have run as fast as a 4.37 second 0-60 mph and a 12.62 1/4 mile at 111+ mph just by simply swapping out the snorkels. That is without a tune. You can’t swap out the snorkels as easily with the G70 so I doubt it would be as fast as mine unless it was tuned and had other mods.

The base is faster but it’s not worth missing out on all the features like premium sound system and all. Sound system alone is a big deal to a lot of people.

Hi, Im a 25 year old male not married with no kids interested in upgrading from a WRX. I was looking at the stinger and q60 however I have added the genesis g70 into the mix. To all kia stinger owners what made you decide to choose the stinger over the genesis g70? Im really into performance and all these articles and reviews are saying the genesis g70 is faster. I also want to note that from where I am from it looks like the genesis g70 mrsp is 8k more than stinger so thats a factor as well.
I bought my 2021 Stinger over the G70 after driving them back to back. The Stinger is a more visceral experience than the Genesis. The G70 was too hushed. Yes it’s tested as a bit quicker. So fine a distinction it can only be shown on a drag strip. I don’t race others on the street so it didn’t factor into my decision. The Stinger is also considerably less expensive. In Toronto you pay an 8 thousand dollar premium for the G70 over the Stinger as you can’t negotiate the price like I did on the Stinger. Both cars are excellent so you can’t really go wrong with either one. Taste accounts for what you’re after.

Just leased my second Stinger, 2022 GT2 Scorpion. The show stopper on the G70 was the rear seat leg room. After owning a Stinger for the past 40 months, the hatch ended up being very important. And, I almost get daily comments about the looks and now the color. It's ceramic silver.

I chose the G70 because it's a better handling, more premium car and I personally like the look better BUT I certainly see the draw to the Stinger. The hatch is awesome and the Stinger looks great. I think it sucks Kia will discontinue the car.

One thing I want to say is the whole back seat leg room comparison is over blown. Yes, the Stinger has more room but they are actually pretty close. If stinger owners were really shopping for leg room, it likely wouldn't be on the list because it's not awesome either.. Let's be real here... is that actually a major factor in buying one of these cars? I think not. However, to be fair I rarely use my back seats!

Accord and Civic thrown in for comparison .

Rear Headroom - Stinger 37 vs G70 36.9 (-.1)
Rear Leg room - Accord 40.4 vs Civic 37.4 vs Stinger 36.5 vs G70 34.8 (-1.7)
Rear shoulder room - Stinger 54.8 vs G70 54.6 (-.2)

Anyways, like others said you can't go wrong with either!

For me it was:
- Price
- Looks
- Storage (trunk v hatch)
- Rear seat space

And that's coming from a previous 2013 Hyundai Genesis. I wanted to go that way, but man... the Stinger was so awesome I just couldn't. Not that I wouldn't have been happy with a G70, but all those factors mattered more than the slightly more luxurious fit, finish, and features of the Genesis.

It's not overblown, I went to the N.Y. auto show when the G70 first came out. I had been looking at their website for several weeks and thought I was going to lease one. I adjusted the front seat for me (5'10") and went to the back seat. I could not get my foot under the front seat. The stinger has a longer wheel base. It is a major factor, I need to be able to transport my 3 adult large kids in the back and the Stinger works for them. Actually, I only put two in the back with my wife, when she was alive.

Price was the main consideration, I could get into a Stinger with the 3.3TT for about $10,000 less at the time I purchased mine. I wanted this platform for the performance it offers, not the interior (although the interior in the Stinger is highly class competitive). The things the G70 offered that were premium were not high on my list of considerations. I didn't even bother test driving the G70 due to the cost difference.

As a G70 owner, I'll admit I'd not have purchased this car over the Stinger if it was significantly more expensive. I've driven both, and there's not a huge difference(although I didn't really test them hard or do any stereo comparisons.)

I bought my Genesis in March of 2020 when Genesis was giving away the 2019 models. $8k off MSRP and 0% APR for 84 months. Unfortunately, those deals are gone for a long time.

Now that I've had the car for a year and a half, I truly enjoy it. Everything that is except for the damned dark smoked window trim peeling and looking like crap on an otherwise immaculate car.

Six to one, half dozen to another, I'd be proud to drive either car.

Same, you can buff out the trim tint.

One thing I really like about the Stinger is the seating position. You sit low in the car as opposed to say a Q50 which felt like I was sitting on a park bench. Makes it feel more sporty than some of the other options. A little tough getting in and out though when the back is acting up…

Buffing makes it chrome. My car didn't come with any chrome. The dealer tried that first; I said hell no. It was replaced once and they refuse to replace it again.
Wrap it. Mine came chrome, so I don't have the issues but wrapping it looks great.

I just had my side dark chrome all replaced, so we'll see how it goes this time around with the car now garage kept and chrome maintained.
What shade or colour did you go with for the wrap ?

On the thread topic. I have a G70 Sport and my buddy has a Ghost Grey Stinger. Both are amazing cars inside and out and performance wise !!
Yes, Stinger is more practical with the hatch and rear legroom if that's important to you. But myself I prefer the trunk look as opposed to the hatch look and I'm not transporting much in this car like 6 foot tall kids or bikes, etc. As long as my work bags, golf clubs and racing helmet fit, I'm good.
Like I said previously, both amazing cars, just a matter of what your priorities are and preference.

Funny, same here. I have two friends with Stingers, both ghost grey. Very nice cars.

Chrome delete is gloss black.

Yep, thought so. I'll keep that in mind if my side chrome goes bad a 2nd time despite my efforts. For the first year (11,000 Kms) car was a Genesis executive's car, so likely wasn't highly maintained cosmetic-wise.

Ya, his is a 2019 Anniversary edition with the beautiful red interior, special wheels etc.

Mine doesn’t go back to chrome.. it’s the same shade
