Hi, Im a 25 year old male not married with no kids interested in upgrading from a WRX. I was looking at the stinger and q60 however I have added the genesis g70 into the mix. To all kia stinger owners what made you decide to choose the stinger over the genesis g70? Im really into performance and all these articles and reviews are saying the genesis g70 is faster. I also want to note that from where I am from it looks like the genesis g70 mrsp is 8k more than stinger so thats a factor as well.

First off, I didn't know a "G70" was coming. I had the Stinger promo book to read all winter. These things attracted me: performance and comfort, style and practicality; I wanted the Harman Kardon surround sound and sunroof. But it was a Kia, and I did not believe: and so it took months before I went for the (fatal) test drive. Three days later, I bought.

(Subsequently, the G70 is no competitor with the Stinger, with me personally; it's just like any number of too-small sedans.)

You’re young. Get the stinger, it stands out more and definitely gets more attention than the G70
Wouldn't you say the genesis brand is more luxurious and respected than KIA? Also I hear the interior is nicer and has a more of a high class style something to WOW the ladies. One of the biggest factor for me however is speed. Im a speed demon.

I don't really need the bigger space in the back though. I will mainly drive these cars as a coupe with just my girlfriend. I want something thats fast and looks high class. Hows the KIA interior?

Im a speed demon.
167 MPH isn't fast enough for you? The Stinger gets up there really quick. I doubt that a G70 would be perceptively quicker, only on the clock by tenths of a second.

The hatch is a huge selling point with me. And it has come in handy countless times, especially on road trips. The Stinger is more elegant and eye catching than the G70. Interior of the Stinger is really good; but I have read/heard that the G70's is a step up.

It depends on the dealer. Some genesis owners have been treated badly, same as Kia owners. See what’s around you, what kind of reviews they have and if they are mod friendly if that’s important to you. The interior is subjective, you could impress with either. My wife is impressed with mine. If you need backseat room the stinger automatically wins. The G70 can fit children/very short people and that’s it. The G70 is a little faster, a little tighter, but is it 8 grand better? You could save that money for mods, and make the stinger better

I bought my Stinger Gt when I was 24 (not married/no kids) which was almost 2 years ago. I found the Stinger to be better looking, more practical and the fact that I could actually sit in the backseats at 6ft tall. Also when I purchased my car the g70s had just come out and prices were way above the Stinger. And I’ve seen dragy times of stock stingers hitting the same 0-60 as stock g70s, so I really don’t think the straight line speed is all that much different.

Also if you want to “impress” ladies I doubt a Korean car is going to achieve that over any of the more established German brands...

How much power are you pushing with your mods? I initially wanted something like the q60 because after modding it could hit around 450 whp.

Maybe 20-30 hp over stock with the intakes, midpipes and catback...I’m still on the stock tune because of warranty/daily driver reliability. But plenty of people see around 400 with just bolt ons and tune, adding e30 or meth should get you close to or above 450. I’m going with the jb4 soon though and plan on running maps 2/3.

Biggest reason for me was the hatch. The G70 trunk is too tiny for Costco trips.

Space and hatch.

The Stinger attracts an age demographic from young to mature, the G70 probably mostly mature due to the luxurious interior etc, yes it would have better quality inside but I prefer the sporty looks and fun I have in a Stinger over luxury and prestige.

I was only buying new, and the G70 redesign is super boring. I liked the older version better.

On Sept 28, 2020, I was minding my own business driving around locally bored because work load was light and knew I’d have a short day and didn’t want to go home. Pulled to the side to check out something in a newspaper and that’s when I saw “ my car” for the first time. Drove 60 miles to make a deal and snatched her up a couple hours later. Honestly, the hatch, color, size, and euro style front and V6 AWD combo did it for me. Seen many G70s along the road...the front grill is remarkably hideous IMO

I actually wanted the G70 simply for the wheels. I honestly think the stock Stinger wheels look weird. They just aren’t my style. I understand some people like them but I don’t. I think the G70 wheels look so much better.

However, at the time I was car shopping you could only get those wheels on the G70 “Design edition” G70. That car was a dark Green exterior but a 100% bright white interior. I like the white interior but not the ENTIRE interior. Even the carpets are white. The FREAKING steering wheel is white. I said F’ that.

Ultimately I bought the Stinger because I was able to find a Panthera Metal exterior color one with the “partial” white interior that I actually like.

I also really like the trunk space. I was able to find the G70 wheels online so I swapped out my original Stinger wheels for those. I was able to get all 4 wheels and tires in the back of the Stinger which you can’t do in the G70.

Ultimately, I just think the Stinger is an all around better car and better value especially at the prices they were selling for when I bought mine. The G70 is nice but the dealer issues right now would terrify me if I had bought that car.

What do you do 0-60 mph and the 1/4 mile in with the way it is right now? Do you have any dragy results? Just curious to see what 20+ horsepower translates to in performance for the Stinger.
