Which is everyone's favorite car wax?

I just had another look. A gallon of the butter wet wax is 65 bucks and freight is 35 bucks. 100 bucks total. Like I said I’m sure it’s good stuff but freight to me is wasted money if I can get similar stuff locally.

Believe me you wont need a gallon of butter wax. Did my whole car and still have enough in the small regular size bottle to do my car ten more times at least. Th V07 is worth getting in the gallon size but just buy the regular size to start with like i did as products can be personal in your own way. At least that way you have the original bottle to refill. i say buy it as you wont regret it.

Usually every wash but they recommend three times a year.

Yes, I've been happy with Meguiar's Gold Class Carnuba/Polymer wax. The shine of carnuba and the durability of polymer. And it doesn't cost half a car payment.

I use Nu Finish. It's cheap, it protects, it lasts long, it's easy to apply, and it's easy to strip if you need to do so. It doesn't make the paint look any different, and it doesn't fill in swirls, but neither of those are things are necessary when you have a new car with pristine paint. I use Rain X on the glass for the same reasons.

It also leaves copious amounts of white powder behind. It’s well worth the extra cash to use a better product on an expensive car. If you protect well now your paint will still look pristine in five years but it won’t look the same if you use new finish which was designed for older cars I feel.

The white powder is what you're supposed to rub off. AFAIK, it's just their there to turn what would be a liquid chemical into a paste so that it's easier to apply. Nu Finish doesn't contain any abrasives, so to to me that sounds like the perfect thing for keeping paint pristine over the years.

Are you implying Nu Finish damages the paint over time in some way? Or that it doesn't provide enough protection (ie. against UV)?

Neither, i have used it before and not had the same results as what I use now.

Waxes in general don't have abrasives so I wouldn't use that as a major determining factor in judging which to use.

I've personally seen Nu finish and yeah I didn't love it; the cleanup is a bit more involved because of the white stuff. It has that stuff because it is like a fine finishing polish that cleans the paint; and has some sealant chemicals to try and protect it afterwards... I come from the mindset that products that try to do a lot of things typically aren't very good anything. If my paint is already in good condition, why do I need to use any sort of polish when all I want to do is keep in clean/protect it?

I see a lot more people going with high temp paste waxes whose synthetic formulas really give them a lot more longevity and thus protection; but yet are still cheap. Fk1000P and collinite seem popular. I personally don't have the time to fairly regularly apply that stuff, so I go with a ceramic coating for vastly better longevity, much better hydrophobic properties, and more protection. That being said the cost and potential difficulty in application, totally get why people wouldn't mind going with more traditional waxes or sealants.

In general, any polish/wax that leaves a residue of white "powder" contains very fine abrasives similar to clay bar. All you need on a new car with unblemished finish is wax unless you want to spend a lot of money on ceramic coatings or sealants. Modern cars are clear-coated so abrasives are totally unneeded unless you need to remove tree sap or other debris. I can wax my car in about an hour with a good quality pure wax.

Collinite 915. I did my initial wax with Wax Daddy Formula 113, because it was quick. I've been meaning to do a full wax, but I'm waiting to get my car repainted .

Hi Guys just brought a new stinger home Thursday nite....she be the red gt2 off the show room floor...too funny last week never heard of a stinger, land here Sunday nite....test drove Monday...got sick Tuesday Wednesday brought her home Thursday nite...didnt drive her till this morning after Sal overnited me all the badges...lol...okay so I owned five carwashes since 1986...just sold the last one bout six months ago....they were all self serve...so ive owned washed and waxed porches bmw's and a few others...long story long....the paint felt real soft and real rough to the touch on this show room queen...called my waxing Bud and he sez he's been using turtle wax ice on his cobra....doesnt whiten up....say what? the turtle? Drive the E car and get me some Ice and put it on...Hell Yes....saved me from whippen out the clay bar....lol too fresh for that crap...but what do i know? she be smooooothe now Wash

I know its not technically a wax... but synthetic wax is always easier. I prefer the good old classic NuFinish "Polish" aka synthetic wax... the orange bottle.

I've used that..leaves a great shine but doesn't last nearly as long as it claims. With good weather, maybe a month if that.
