What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Applied ceramic coating - did about half of the car. I had planned to only do the front (fenders, bumper, hood) but it was so quick and easy, I quickly cleaned and stripped the roof and tailgate lid, and did those as well. I'll probably do the rear bumper and doors tomorrow morning.

Used the Cquartz 3.0 product. Honestly was quicker to apply than prepping the surface. The finish is amazing, and I haven't even gotten the car out into sunlight yet. While applying it, I ran my fingers down across panels which were partially treated, and the difference in how "slippery" the treated - but dry - surface was blew me away. I can't wait to see how this works in rain, but as the Stinger is my fun car, I might have to put some CQ on my Sorento as well. Perhaps do half the hood, so I can get a comparison..

I have been lurking on these boards for over a year sitting on the sidelines watching you guys have all the fun.

Well today I made my first post on this forum as a proud Stinger owner under the Price paid thread.

This forum has been instrumental for me to research, purchase, and now modify my new 2019 Ceramic Silver Stinger GT2 AWD. Thank you all for your input, instructions and personal feedback on your mods.

Here is what I did yesterday and today.

  1. Ordered Tuxmats for front and back.
  2. Modified front emblem
  3. Modified steering wheel emblem
  4. Modified wheel cap emblem
  5. Ordered Dr. Color chip
Looking at the tuxmat cargo mat, but not quite sure

How does the steering wheel emblem fit on the sides? I installed the E one but removed it immediately after realizing how poor the fit was on the left and right, height was bang on but the sides ruined it.

Ark GT-F springs and Eibach rear sway install complete.

I thought it was a good fit. I was happy with the way mine turned out. I probably could have positioned mine about .5mm more to the left. With that being said no one will really ever notice except me. At the end of the day it looks so much better than the Kia emblem:)

Now you've done it: @19GT-AWD's block/ban list just got one longer. ;):P:laugh:

Yes my feelings on this exactly.
The aftermarket manufacturers of these products can’t curve the emblems from what I’ve seen including the large “K” badge for the front so adhesion doesn’t work.

Adhesion wasnt the issue, it was that the steering wheel emblem wasnt wide enough to cover over the kia emblem and you could see the edges of the emblem underneath.

That's only a problem if you use it as an overlay. Removing the Kia emblem and replacing it with a different one eliminates the problem.

Finished the rest of my ceramic coat - beautiful fall-like weather helped. Very happy with how it looks in the garage. :)

When I relocated my OEM STINGER badge to above the license plate, I had used adhesive to secure it. A little had leaked around the edges and either discolored, or collected some grime in the months since. I decided to remove it, which meant I could not only clean up those spots, but also apply the ceramic evenly over the entire area.

I had also picked up a Duplicolor black chrome kit - base and clearcoat - a few months back, with the intention of painting the badge, I'd just hadn't gotten around to it. So I finally had the excuse now that the badge was off. I'm pleased with the results, waiting for the ceramic to cure overnight before I put it back on.

The paint "kit" was $35 - if you're wondering why I didn't just buy a black chrome badge, it's because I don't like the look of that huge badges that are available with that finish. I like the size of the OEM badge that was left of the license plate when I bought it, just not the chrome finish.

I will say, the finish is not really as metallic as the marketing description and pictures would have you believe. I don't really mind because it's not going to be alongside any of the other trim. I mention it because if anyone else wanted to paint trim parts, you could probably get a similar effect by using a dark grey, and coating with clear gloss.

Installed my rear diffuser, taillight tint and alcantara armrest. Armrest is a huge pain in the ass FYI and instead of dremeling out the original plastic cover like the other guy in the “armrest so fancy” thread, I just hacked it apart with some cutting pliers as it would make less of a mess. Everything turned out perfect couldn’t be happier.

The install of the armrest is very difficult due to the location of the back Phillips screws on the armrest. Go take a look. Trying to get a screwdriver In There without damaging the aluminum console back cover is almost impossible. Clearly they intend the entire center console to be removed which is a bigger pita. Using a very small screwdriver (shaft) with micro fibers laid down helps.... but it is difficult to get leverage.
