What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Also does anyone know what this wire harness is on the last picture? Or was it supposed to be connected to something? When I took the bumper off, it was just hanging.

I think on pre-22 Stingers there is a harness behind the front left fender liner you have to unclip in order to take off the bumper. I believe it's for the front parking sensors (maybe some other stuff too, not sure). It's rectangle shaped but yours looks squarish.

See picture, maybe it's for your ambient temperature sensor?

Finally did my first oil change. Man! It’s a pain in the ass to remove the under covers and figure out how to jack it up. I guess there’s no jack points. But I finally installed the Velossa snorkels.

^^Where are you jacking under?
I second @JSolo question, what are you jacking up on?

Added the Mando ECS10 and surprisingly noticeable difference in their comfort option. I went through a couple streets that have always given me a rough time and it made a noticeable change.

Looking forward to testing out the sport and customizable options.

Under the "Today I Learned" category...

TIL that if you use the passengers side knob while listening to MP3's over Bluetooth, you can scroll forward and back through the current playlist, and it won't switch to the selected song until you push the passengers side knob.

It probably works similarly for more things, like Internet radio, mp3s on a thumb drive, etc. But I just discovered that.

How are you liking the Avant Garde M520Rs?

What sizes are you running?

In person, are the spokes that “sit back” a few mm sufficiently darker than the “tuning fork-shaped” spokes to highlight the fork-shaped spokes?

[Could that sentence BE more convoluted?]
I like them a lot, I think the go beautifully with the styling of these cars. The Dark Graphite Metallic goes well with both the Ceramic Silver body and dark chrome accents. Plus, they get a lot of compliments.

Fronts are: 19 x 8.5/ ET +35 and for the rears: 19 x 9.5/ ET +40

Haha, a bit convoluted, but it's all good, I'll try to decipher...no. I believe they are all the same, they just look darker from the lighting/shadows and angle of the picture.

how many of you have looked under the top border of the bottom grille? I ask because for the first time in over five and a half years I noticed what a bug collector it is. I was sitting on the grass in front of my car, waiting for my wife to finish shopping a health store sale, when the reflected light off the cement curb, and my low vantage point, showed inconsistencies in the dark chrome, it looked lumpy. when I got close and ran my fingers over it then I knew. got out the spray bottle and a microfiber and went to work. that was a slog. my wife ended up waiting for me. but now my lower grille is clean all the way around.

edit, this morning checking out the upper frame of the lower grille I missed some spots. and they are not bug guts but some kind of sticky residue like a coating that wasn't removed. isopropyl alcohol oddly does not touch it any better than water. it took quite a bit more rubbing with microfiber and water but it's all cleaned off now.

On the recent roadtrip we took through central/southern Oregon, my whole front end killed an imperial buttload of bugs (or 38.7 metric sh*t-tonnes ;) ). Mostly yellow jackets. After that trip I did my 9k oil change and while inspecting everything, found a ton of dead bugs in my intake boxes - indicating that they were sucked in via the velossatech hood scoops.

Nothing, not even a water spot, behind the filters though, so the K&N drop-ins are doing their job :)

The smoke chrome of my side mirrors and grille outline was covered in bug guts, as well as the grilles. Thankfully, a quick detailer and a microfiber cloth (Chemical Guys Speed wipe, for those paying attention at home), as well as elbow grease, cleaned it all up like new. Was a pain but it worked. The smoke chrome looks good.

Finally installed the Luxon rear chassis bars

And???...report tester:laugh::rofl::laugh:. Did you go beat on the car to see about handling differences?

It is time for the annual tire rotation. Car now has ~10,4xx miles. Last time discount tire did the rotation as i wanted them balanced too. All tires appear to be wearing evenly with no screws/nails or other tires unfriendly debris (knock on wood). Also checked the pads. Both front/rear look practically brand new with minimal wear.

Total time, ~2 hrs. Most of it just setting the car up to be lifted. An impact did help with removal.

This is the extent of maintenance this year. Next spring (~12/13K miles) it gets a new engine and cabin air filter. Next fall I'll R&R the brake fluid during the tire rotation.

this afternoon I started my blue premium. this was a thing, because my wife had called out in town with a car that would not start. here is a post from the last time this happened. What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

this time, by the time I got there in the other stinger, the gt1, she had gone back inside to use the ladies' room. I had brought the spare fob. pulled up alongside and got out and got into her - asserted to be unresponsive - blue car. like last time the brake pedal was stiff as a board. I pushed it very firmly and pushed the start button and vroom! she was a good girl. so, the only difference was that this time I did not disconnect the battery. I think that removing the fob from the car for a few minutes, and making sure that you get the brake pedal to move, does the trick.

weird how it's been six months almost to the day since the last time the car wouldn't start, and both times that "scheduled diagnostic" screen was up. my wife said that she's seen that screen "all the time", but that would only be since the last time I drove the premium, probably over a week ago, because I haven't seen the scheduled diagnostic screen in a long time, maybe the full six months? what is that anyway? the previous owner must have set that up. I have no idea what it is about. probably just a coincidence and has nothing whatsoever to do with not starting.

Got alignment done today. Looks like I needed it.
It’s been a little under 2 years since my last one.

Ive had the wont start without you and 5 friends pushing on the brake pedal issue before, so you are not alone. Dont know what that is but a little unnerving when it happens. As for the scheduled diagnostic alert, you can set that up with the uvo. It was on mine until i figured out how to turn it off. Its a computer self check of the car to look for issues that may not show up otherwise i believe. Unfortunately at the moment i dont recall how i cleared it out and stoped it from showing up. Should be in the manual though.
Man that sounds horrible, "read your manual", sorry its not supposed to be rude sounding.

that's okay, thanks for the reply. uvo works in the usa? did that come in after 2018 or am I mistaken when I say that uvo was a canada thing but not in the usa or at least not everywhere? I'd like to take down that alert. I'll 'read the manual' and see if uvo section offers any clues.

edit, read uvo section. scheduled diagnostics is deselected / off.

Nothing major, but got her up for my 3k oil change and installed a fumoto valve. Noticed there weren't many photos of the fitment on a stinger 3.3 so I got some for the record
It looks like your valve drains to the side. Can it be installed to drain downward? I plan to install an access port and drop the oil directly onto a large drain pan/container, instead of using a flexible extension hose.

It swivels, so, yes.

Some oil drain plug openings are recessed so that the Futubo valve cannot be rotated to arbitrary angles without buying an extension fitting. From the Stinger 3.3 L pictures I've seen, I can't tell if the oil pan cover is flush with the plane of the drain plug opening, or sticks out a little. Also, if it points down, I'm not sure if it would hit the underbody aero panel.

I've seen no evidence it touches the panel when pointing downward. Best luck!
