What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Changed three of the spark plugs today and ran out of time to do the rest before work. The trouble isn't the packs or the plugs, it's getting to them. Even with the swivel joints. For someone brand new to car work, it seems daunting but it's simple. I lost a coil bolt and a 1/4 10mm socket to the void of the engine bay. No amount of slapping the splash pan or blind routing with a bendable magnetic stick could find them. I can only hope they don't find their way into something they can break. But the coil is holding after my commute and I've already found replacement bolts that hopefully fit. Tomorrow, I will take on the intake side plugs and install the JB4. The saga continues...

Yeah. I keep spare OEM bolts around just in case. I can see how this would happen easily. Especially the ones under the manifold.

Do you know the size of the coil bolts off hand. That’s a good idea to have a few on hand. No one is exempt from an occasional case of the butterfingers.

I believe these. Been awhile since I ordered them. I can double check later (not by the bolts atm).

Well, the hilarious thing is the one I lost is off Bay 2 (driver side).

I will post the sizing for the replacement because some thread in this forum said M6-1.00 x20mm would fit and it's too skinny. I picked up a few boxes of flange bolts around this size and I'll give an update on what fits. I'm going to be going to the dealer again anyway because -

I installed the other 3 spark plugs. Rain was forecast and I was determined to get it done before (I don't have a garage or any overhead covering where I am). The intake side was a pain, but doable. I managed to keep the coil packs mostly intact. It's the pack that sits right under the charge pipe area that was the worst. My fingers couldn't fit well underneath and still get leverage so I used spark plug pliers to help in the tight spaces. Fired the engine up after and gave it a few 3k~RPM revs, no misfiring. I planned on a short drive to confirm no CEL and normal operation and of course - TPMS light went on. One of my tires seems to have a slow leak, despite being fine the night before. FML, of course! I got the tires rotated at the dealer earlier this week when I had them do the 12k mile inspection. I didn't find any obvious puncture. I brought it to Tire Warehouse and learned something new - apparently you can't change just one tire on a AWD vehicle. (Pretty embarrassing to learn that fact as I did lol) I asked them if they could at least see if it was a flat and go the repair route there just to tide me over and they also refused. So the JB4 install will have to wait a day while I go back to the dealer to get new tires ( I anticipate they will have OEM in stock). Thing is, the other tires still have good tread on them... what will I even do with them? Can't imagine anyone will want to buy them. Maybe they will be sand baths for my chickens.

I have one more actual day off with nothing planned so we'll see if I can't get the JB4 in tomorrow and give that a go. So close... the saga continues!

Wow! Yeah. That is funny those are the easy ones. But it happens. Spark plugs are a challenge the first time but it gets easier each time. Swivels are life savers (or time savers rather keeping the manifold intact. Lol) on those spark plugs. Keep us updated! I had a CEL light come on today a P0018 code. Which is the Camshaft position sensor. Bank 2 I believe. That’s what my reader says anyway. Hopefully it just needs cleaned. But if it needs replaced, should be an easy repair. I’m waiting on my BMS EWG wires too. I want to install this week. Always something!

The tire should be able to be plugged unless the puncture is in the sidewall.

I hope it’s able to be plugged and not in the sidewall

looks great!

Got the JB4 installed today*. Managed to break part of the brake booster cover. Lol.

Everything is functioning. Tested on map1 and map 2, no issues. No CEL, no codes. Today* was a good day.

(* Yesterday now, it's after midnight!)

Confirmed the M6-1.00×25mm fits perfectly. Can be found and auto parts stores and Home Depot-types.

That’s great! Let the logs begin! Haha. Have fun. JB4 is one of the best mods.

Looks great! - and just a suggestion - get some gloss black vinyl and wrap the dark chrome bits on the hatch lid so it doesn't stand out next to your window vents
One of the cars at the meet on the weekend had that done, really cleans it up. Great suggestion from where I sit.
