This is how I spent my lunch today

Still waiting on insurance I assume? No estimate when they'll have an answer?

Still waiting...maybe answers next week they say.

Did my first prelim test drive in the Golf R to see if it belongs on the short list. It's definitely different. It is much more sporty feeling than the Stinger, which I like. The stinger seats are good, but I'm really liking the R seats as well. It rode well and the only quirk I found (keep in mind it is brand new) was the vibration in the glass from the Soundaktor. That thing is a double edged sword, i like how it sounds, but not sure if the rattling glass will bug me over time. At least it can be coded out via OBD. Anyway, a decent start the search. I wish there were more coupe options that I liked, but nothing is fully fitting the bill.

So, still no word?

Both are too slow. One thing I have figured out for sure is I dont like slow cars lol. I see that there are 5 M240i's at the dealership that have been marked down to 55k recently (2019 models). If I can get a decent lease rate i might check those out if they are still around when the car is resolved.

No, it is mostly hung up on insurance details from the site the police enter into here. I know someone that works in admin with the police and she said she will take a look for me on Tuesday, nice to have connections.

The A class AMG-s are blisteringly quick, but dont know what the price range is in the US.
The M240I is no doubt a great car to drive, as is 440i xdrive or M140I xdrive, dependant on the size of the car you want.

You might end up taking the ETS, lol

I dont think they have new A Class AMGs in Canada at the moment unfortunately.

Seems it just a matter of unplugging the "speaker".

Yeah, the M240i is supposed to be a great car as is the 440i. Good options!

But come on, just go with an RS3!

I can't even look at an S3 because I'll be mad I didn't get a RS3.

I do prefer RWD biased AWD systems, and I MUCH prefer a coupe over anything with more than 2 doors. The M240i fits the bill better. I get stuck between placing a dollar value on what I WANT and if the extra is worth it. At MSRP, the M240i is more than I want to spend, but with this reduced price, I think I could make that move (assuming they don't try to gouge you somewhere else in the numbers).

This deal on the BMW could come and go though, if I'm waiting 2-3 months for the car to get fixed, they could be gone by then. I won't go check them out now otherwise I'll be mad that I didn't get them. If they're still around when I get the Stinger back, I'll go take a look.

Yes, you just need to choose if you like the sound and leave it but maybe have a window vibration, or unplug it to get rid of that vibration, or if you don't like the sound. I didn't mind the fake sound lol.

Coworker has an '18 R, any cracks in the windshield get worse quickly if not repaired.

I finally got the collision report so I'm going to call the insurance broker tomorrow and try to make some headway on what the heck is going on. I keep checking the UVO app to see what's going on with the car, the hood has been open for days and they keep opening the driver door, so they're doing something with it, lol.

I haven't driven it yet, but now I'm really liking the M240i idea I have going on, and those discounts right now really sweeten the deal. Just trying to do a bunch of research on leases so I don't get hosed. From what I understand, it works out to be:

*use these fake numbers, zero down*
MSRP + Options + Delivery/Destination = 60,000
Residual = 46% (4 years), Residual = 27,600
Cost to lease (Sum less residual) = 32,400
Tax on lease cost @ 5%= 1,620
Total lease cost plus interest = 34,020

48mth @ 2.99 APR = $752.86/mth
Total obligation sum from above = $36,137.25

Am I correct that the lease payments are the sum of MSRP, Delivery charges, option charges, less residual, then tax, amortized over X amount of payment?

And what about the tire tax, AMVIC charge and AC Excise tax? Are those rolled into the lease lump sum, or paid up front on the first payment?

I like to make the dealers sweat when I break out the calculator :D

I'm really liking the M240i idea

Have you sat in one?

A couple of reviews of the M2 is what started me on my path towards the Stinger about a year before it was even announced, and what almost led me to buy an M3/4 or C43AMG just as I found out about the Stinger.

The reason I ask is - I got in an M2 at a dealer, and it was WAY too cramped. I'm only 5'11. Then I got to go on a long ride in a 240M (iirc - it wasn't an M2 but it was a 2-series M car) and that sealed the deal - no way I could live with a car that small, as much fun as it was. Perhaps as a weekend-only toy..

My daughters C5 is easier to get in and out of..

I agree, it's a really small car. But he said he'd like an RS3 (if price was no option) so the size might not bother him. A good alternative to the M240 would be an M340. They won't lease as well since the dealerships will only have newer ones but an extra $50-$100 in a larger but still compact package might be a good idea.

If he could find a 2019 440xi the price would probably be similar to the M240, still be smaller than a stinger, and still have 2 doors.

Just blabbing here but I know I would appreciate it when I am looking, so...

I briefly looked at the Audi 3's and don't remember them being anywhere near as cramped. More like the 3-series, but it's been a few years now.

Dismal performance for equal price (than BMW and AMG) quickly turned me away, even though I would have loved to own an Audi.
