The Official Stinger Feature Wishlist

That has nothing to do with listening to USB drive sourced files, though, is that right? There is never going to be a way to get the gaps gone while listening to my ripped CDs on USB.

Not until they change the software. It's the same in every vehicle I've driven that supported USB music files, from multiple OEM systems, and astounds me how something so obvious can't be fixed. I have a cheap aftermarket stereo in my '03 F150 that I installed about 5 years ago, and it plays USB files without the pauses.

There is a brightness adjustment for the display.

Yes, the infotainment screen thru the setup menu, and the dash/interior lights via the buttons below the steering wheel. On the lowest settings, they are still way too bright for me.

Yeah, the pauses in my seamless albums was the first quirk/fault in the Stinger (and practically the only one) that I noticed, really early on. I went looking for a setting to remove the pauses, and of course came away defeated. It still bugs me. And there are a lot more seamless tracking spots in the albums I've been listening to than I was ever aware of before the Stinger's audio system started inserting them.

Like I said, not just the Stinger - it's been that way in every vehicle that supports USB music since (in my experience) the beginning of time. I used to travel a LOT (more than once a week sometimes) on business, rent cars everywhere, and carried a flash drive for just that purpose - it was the same in every brand. Every Kia I've owned since 2010, same thing. But a years-old, cheap, aftermarket stereo doe not have it.

Wish instruments were set slightly lower in dash. Top of steering wheel obscures the uppermost readings like high beams and cruise control.

Tilt your steering up slightly & drop your seat down may help, I’m tall & had similar problem, played around with the seating & steering wheel adjustments & I found the sweet spot so to speak.

Sure I can adjust all that, but it is not ideal when I have adjustments set for me. Wish Kia would do the adjusting, not me. Need better attention to ergonomics.

Kia paid plenty of attention to the ergonomics. But human beings are c. seven billion on this ball of mud. How do you design ONE car to adjust to every possible driver? Impossible. So the practical thing is to design for the largest grouping of body types/predilections. The human animal is supposed to be adaptable. My initial settings that suited me obscured the turn signals (there is a thread about this somewhere). After reading what others had to say about this irritating shortcoming, I did as @Stinger GT SS suggests: seat and steering column adjustments until I could see everything, and be comfortable: not exactly the same as before, but adaptable. Soon, I didn't notice the difference, and I could see everything on my instrument cluster.

At 5-10, I am pretty nominal size. Haven't had this "dials-hidden-under-the-steering-wheel" problem with other cars. While we are at it, the LKAS on/off button (located under the steering wheel) is not well located either. As an industrial engineer, who specialized in performance analysis, I know that these shortcomings are fixable.

I don't have any of the nanny systems (aka as driver assist), so I couldn't comment on that. But with so many buttons and switches etc., where is all the room for all of them!? They can't ALL get top priority placement.

That's the easy way out. Let's not make excuses for less than stellar design.

I think the design is stellar. You want "interstellar". ;)

Think about this.. the HUD display can be adjusted. Why not make the dash gauges adjustable as well? With all the tech in cars now, why do we even need "bulbs" and "dials"? Why not make the whole instrument panel a display, with height/width scaling options like every TV on the planet?

The Stinger is a retro design: much of the interior is reflective of the 70s, including "real" instruments instead of only digital. It's an atmospheric thing and I like it.

Display could still emulate a retro style.. in fact - gosh - how about if it was one of several "looks" available?

With wired Car-Play, the gaps are gone! I hate having to plug in but am happy to not have the gaps again.

Will never happen (in the US), EPA rules. Someone did find that if you wedge something in to keep the button down, it will stay off. Also if you have less pressure on the brake pedal as you stop, if won't trigger. Personally, I hated it on my ex's car and a colleagues SUV, but find it very unobtrusive on the Stinger. I rarely turn it off.

I too wish the screen and dash could be dimmer.

You can "program" the hatch opening height, if you don't need all that room, that helps.
How do you program the hatch height?

Manually adjust it, then hold the button on the hatch for a couple of seconds - I think it beeps a couple times..

I would like an option to turn on heated seats/steering wheel on remote start, or better yet have a remote start "preset" where I can choose the climate control and heated/ventilated seat options I want on remote start.

Sounds like maybe the UVO phone app can do this... if we had that option in the US.

Are we getting soft or what?
