Stinger Enthusiast
I'm sure someone already wrote this but I would LOVE to be able to always see what gear I'm in (when in manual) instead of seeing the "gear up" recommendation.
Having had my Stinger GT Limited (Canadian Version) (GT2 AWD in US) for about a month now, Wireless Apple CarPlay would be my first wish. It seems like a simple software upgrade as other Kia models have it already. As the flagship Kia vehicle it should be done. I know why they default to Comfort mode and the Engine Start/Stop function, the CAFE fuel ratings force them into it. However, you could allow us to deactivate the Start/Stop and engage sport via a hard Custom button function. This way, it's one stop functionality for the sport enthusiast. Otherwise this is the finest GT car I've ever driven. I upgraded from my 2011 Optima SX Turbo and what a difference! Faster, better grip and handling and better fit and finish. The Optima was a good start. The Stinger is the best GT car available in North America under $75,000.00.
??? I don't understand this. In "manual" (manual gate for GT/GT1), the display is what gear you're in. Is this a GT2 thing? But if so, I understand that keeping the drive mode in Sport will also keep the display on the gear you're in; until you come to a complete stop, at least (just pull the paddle and you get "1" to show instantly).I'm sure someone already wrote this but I would LOVE to be able to always see what gear I'm in (when in manual) instead of seeing the "gear up" recommendation.
Never read about that. Must be a European trim thing. I do know, from experience, that when in "manual gate" (the genuine manual mode of the GT1), if I am punching it, my car will take over and shift up if I don't do it fast enough.I actually have a 2.0 GT-Line (which over here is like the GT2 in terms of options) with the 7" cluster screen and electric shifter.
When I'm in automatic, I get a "D" displayed. When in manual mode (in Sport), the car displays which gear I'm in (instead of the "D") BUT when I'm in higher revs, the screen starts to display a suggested gear. So, for example, I am in 3rd and can see a "3" there until I get to about 3000rpm at which point I get a "4" and with an arrow up, both in green.
Is this only on the 2.0?? That would be sad..
Well its not happening on the Australian GT model (GT2). Unless its on the newer spec which know one has mentioned yet.So, my car does not shift up, unless I get to the limiter. It does however give these retarded shift suggestions which “teach” you how to drive the most efficiently in terms of fuel. The thing is you get them even in Sport+. And they cover the actual gear you’re currently in. So you could be in 3rd and based on your revs could get a suggestion to shift to 4th or to 5th(!!) if you’re are 5000rpm for example.
Can anyone with GT2 confirm that this is not happening on US cars? I’ll try to take a pic next time.
Here it is in the manual. No way to turn it off and have current gear all the time.

The next unstoppable "feature" will be a voice to go with the icon: "You must shift up now, to reduce carbon emissions." And finally, there will be NO paddle shifting on European cars, ever again. Of course, after that, only EV will be made. And ICE vehicles will be taxed out of existence, even as the petrol stations disappear like the dinosaurs.Must be a weird european regulation about fuel efficiency and emissions control then. I can't imagine anyone buying a Stinger, putting it in Sport Mode and expecting the car to give recommendations on upshifting in the most fuel efficient way.. Such nonsense!
So like California? LOL (I sadly also see this as becoming more true sooner rather than later)The next unstoppable "feature" will be a voice to go with the icon: "You must shift up now, to reduce carbon emissions." For better or for worse, EV rollouts will not be as quick as some are hoping for. There is a non-trivial impact to the environment in regards to the production and refining of lithium and other "rare earth" metals, not to mention the political issues. The next unstoppable "feature" will be a voice to go with the icon: "You must shift up now, to reduce carbon emissions."
