Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

And what if that m3 gets to do the free BEF flash + E85 + jb4? That's probably enough to keep up with the Stinger..
I’m sure if you gave a 500lb lighter M3 an extra 100whp it would easily beat our Stingers, but the point was that it would be about DOUBLE the cost.

I was simply saying you don’t need to spend $15k+ on a big turbo kit just to beat a M3. It can easily be done with less than $1k and a couple bolt-ons.

We've done rolling races Stinger vs M3, both equally modified. The Stinger doesn't stand a chance but remember you can buy 2 Stingers for the price of one M3. :)

Against a stock M3 might be able to surprise someone. They run around 115mph traps stock and a modified Stinger can easily beat that. Tuned M3 run 130-135mph traps on E85 fuel.

Agreed - but the post I was replying to said he wanted to spend $12K+ to get bigger turbos - and I suggested he'd probably need at least a torque converter upgrade as well. At that point, he's in for $20K with unknown / untested parts. If he's running a GT2 ($50K), then he's now at $70K without a warranty. Last year, at the end of the month, you could pick up a new M3/M4 for around that price. Not to mention the M2.

All I'm saying - IMHO, the Stinger is NOT the platform for dropping $20-30K in mods on. It's for getting a pretty good all-around car around 450-470 whp without too many upgrades (jb4, suspension, maybe $2.5k?). If you want to drop $20K+ on top of a platform, start with M3, Camaro SS, Corvette or Hellcat. You'll have a lot less heartaches and a lot more upgrade choices.

Edit: somehow forgot about the Mustang.. Deserves to be up there with the big boys..

Running nothing but a jb4 in map 3 (using e30) and a diy intake. Oh, and the BMS burnout switch!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I know I’m probably the only one who cares... but does anyone know what the fastest times for the 2.0 are?

We had a 2.0 time on the old 1/4 mile thread that got locked. Have to dig around a bit.

Thanks guys.

I saw this on the old thread.. but because it references AWD, I think that’s Bryans new car (3.3). I know he totaled the 2.0 (RIP) and got a 3.3:
“12.35 @ 115.00, Bryan2.0, 8.05 @90.39, 1.96
AWD JB4 map3, Tork intake, 93 octane + Royal Purple”

I saw this on the Facebook page, but not sure if that’s the fastest time he put down with his 2.0 or if there was a faster run:

@Bryan3.3 - any chance you can clarify :)

Well no tracks are open in the northeast until next year... but I got a dragy. Not sure if that counts or not, but if so, new record for the 2.0!

The next challenge for me is finding a straight, flat, and “safe” (in quotes because drag racing your car on a street is hardly safe) 1/4 mile road in the aptly named “Northwest Hills of Connecticut”. It’s damn near impossible, but I’ll see what I can do.

Last winter we did a dragy list but dragy times for AWD tend to be faster due to the cooler conditions by about .2. With wmi and brake snip awds are maybe faster on the track.
You can post to the dragy leaderboards.
