Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

I think you're failing to understand what impact elevation has on forced induction cars. A stock RWD GT at ~sea level will run a 12.9, this has been proven. At Brian B's elevation the exact same car will probably run a 13.7.
I don't fail to understand that. Thats the first thing i said. With his power level (due to altitude) his 60 foot is in line with his quarter mile time.

@Tonkabob I felt your Dragy vs track pain yesterday - went to my local 1/8th mile track which was an absolute shit show. If you can imagine a rural South Carolina 1/8th mile track behind a neighborhood consisting of trailer parks, you can basically imagine this track (so. many. mullets.).

I could only manage an 8.13 but the lines to get on the track were so incredibly unorganized so my IATs were in the high 130s for the first run (8.13), then high 140s for the second, high 160s for the third. This is compared to a regular Dragy which my IATs are ~100. On the way back I ran an 8.14 on Dragy and I let off / hit the brakes around 85mph. lol.

I will not be going back to said track. Traction for me is better on the street.

Got some light weight rims and tires on order.
These may or may not help me at the track.
On one hand they are much lighter on the other
I got 20s and that will hurt the gear ratio. See what happens. 3 weeks out...

Wider tires than stock? That might offset the weight difference.

How much taller is the new wheel tire combo? Light wheels do help quite a bit.
I may do 275 30s on the back when i wear these out. .5 inch shorter but a couple pounds more rubber.

Yeah that sounds crapy all around. Plus the RWDs shine in the second 1/8th.
I need a private drag strip so i can just roll up and launch w 70 degree iats and hit a 11.6. :) i need to become friends with the guys at the track...

yuuup, I agree. I purchased the exact same set up as you. Wanted the 1.2s but they were 6 weeks out and I know what that would have led to, 12 weeks. So vertini rf1.1s with Michelin pilot sport 4s, 245, 285. Going from stock 18s with all seasons 225s to this combo. See what happens. Still got another weekend or 2 at the track on the 18s really just chasing an 11 and then off to the car shows. Not gonna beat the car week in and week out. Also bought the carbon fiber legato hood. Not sure about weight savings on that one.

I weighed mine compared to stock and IIRC the weight was nearly identical. I documented it somewhere but can't find it (probably in my old phone). I'm old and have a terrible memory but I think the weight difference was <5lbs per.

If possible check what differences yours are when you get them. I'm pretty curious.

Mod check...
Still have primary cats and no WMI. Lol

FAKE. Where's your birth certificate as proof?
That's the Mueller report, that's good as gold. Could be used as proof of life for a kidnapping.
Next outing in 2 weeks. I think I'll pull the back seat and weigh it. If I would have hit a 11.80 or 11.81 maybe I can slip into a 11.79 instead?

How about the front seat? Should only be a few bolts and a few plugs if you can temporarily live with the airbag light being on. But it is probably seriously heavy. Not as heavy as the drivers seat in a GT2 (due to the extra thigh support motor) but still significant.

I suspect the front seat is heavier than the back with motors and cooling but Don't want to get too carried away.

Remove your hood, strip the headliner, take out all of the bulbs in the car, and the seats you may hit 11.5s o_o just make sure you mention what you did when you ran :/

Anyone racing this weekend?

Curious what the front pass seat weights too. On BMWs it can be as much as 65#!

I'll weigh the spare, rear seat backs and bench this week. My guess is about 100 lbs total. That will put me right at 4000 lbs with some gas and no driver.
