Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

You need better tires. Our rwds spin like crazy. Even with semi slicks i had spin.those p4s are good for the street not ideal for our rwd at the track. Awds wont have issues.

Didn’t spin at all. PSI may have been too low in the high 20s though.

Hi yall just got home from texasmotorplex Friday nite drags my best two runs were the first two...im slow but consistant ...lol also I may have a bad Dragy...remember my 1/8 slips didn't agree with dragy a few weeks ago ...well tonite some 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times were invalid due to slope...on the Texasmotorplex track...I think not....maybe my wheelie bars weren't adjusted right? It was a great nite temp wise, but DA was bad at 1450.....all my other runs were worse than the first two runs....track was prepped great hookin up pretty good tire pressure lowered to 29 psi...timed the fillup and E85 great cause by the time I got to the track I was at a lil over a 1/4 tank....geez getting down to Ennis at drive home time was Effin crazy had to go thru downtown Big D at 5 pm...sheesh...so what do I need to get quicker? all ive got is K&N drop ins....and the JB4 of course...am I par for the course with what I have?

I think not having real intakes is holding you back big time

112 trap isn't bad for the mods but the times are a bit off. Intakes would certainly help but @STINGER ran a 11.94 with k&n drop ins. I ran 12.44 with a tune catback and k&n drop ins.
Any logs?

112 trap is pretty bad considering 109 trap is stock for RWD

I ran 12.4 at 112 so trap isn't what's holding him back.
Edit: on second thought looking at the fb times a non ecu tuned car needs 115 mph trap to hit 11.4s
Miguel with a ecu tune ran 12.0 at 115
When i had race chip i ran 12.7s at 112.

If I recall wash, no fuel wires? You should probably be running a bit better. What fuel were you running? Maps 3 and 5 require a good octane boost.

I have fuel wires and use 93 with E85 added....I used map 5 and also played with reduced boost in 1st...on these two runs didn't notice spin (1st and 2nd run)....ill post up logs in a bit.....thanks! :) Wash

Do intakes actually make much of a difference (with jb4/ssr mids) on this car? Most other cars I've seen, intakes are more for sound than actual power until you get to crazy power levels..

Intakes are huge in any platform. The more air you can bring in the better

Well, sure, I know about airflow.. I also know that for example, for my '05 LGT, intakes aren't usually considered useful until you've done up/down pipes, turbo, tmic, injectors, pump, tgv deletes, etc.. Even then, not a great bang-for-buck. Both stock intake and stock cat-back exhaust are generally considered "not a significant restriction" until you get > 300 whp (stock is ~180-200 whp).

On a stock LGT, even "official" SPT intakes often made things WORSE, and were hard to tune for and avoid dangerous lean conditions. Same with other CAIs - the general advice was to avoid them unless you really needed it.

How much can you actually gain from intakes on this car? More than 10 whp?

15 hp peak and 35 - 40 hp at redline. Best bang for the buck mod aside from a tune.

Nice, but seems like you could have done a little better. Terry ran 12.4@116s with only a JB4, so you definitely have room for improvement.

Seems like you need some help on the top end so intakes should drop 0.1-0.2sec and add 2-3mph to your traps.

ran a 12.29 in comfort mode without launch control, lol Could of swore 1st thing I did was put it in sport but I guess not. More runs coming...

Nice!!

Going for that 12 flat pass run? Make sure you are on sport mode and try to use LC, sometimes is better without LC.

Post results would like to see them.

12.2 is a great pass!
