The check that you were given, what did it cover? I'm curious it will cover things like new wheels & tires, and the additional paint that I had done.

So you left them the car without them having paid the loan off yet? What happens if they dont pay? You now have no leverage (the asset) to bargain with? I am going to ask for them to wire the money when this happens for me. I cannot seem to gather how they can expect you to leave the car and not have paid it off yet. Was there some sales agreement that said they would pay by some date? I will potentially be in the same spot as you in that i give them the car, they dont pay in time, and my CU comes after me looking for another payment. Hopefully one of those forms you signed is a sales contract as i am not aware of another situation in which you would front the asset on "goodwill" or "faith" that they will pay. Perhaps i am cautious about this as i write and negotiate contracts and have seen many times things go south after the fact.OK, we are almost done. The car has been returned and is sitting at the dealer now. It was pretty painless and took a total of about 30 minutes. Would have probably gone faster if we had a more competent representative from Morley, but she was very nice. Had about 5 forms to fill out. One was the agreement paper, another was the odometer statement. One was the paper(not a check) allowing them access to pay off the loan. The last was the POA to let them register the car back to Kia. That was all signed after the inspection. She just walked around the car looking for damage, checked the wheels for tread depth, inside for any interior damage and then got both keys and checked that the owners manual was there. Took pics of all sides of the car, and interior and owners manual with key fobs. After all was done, she handed me my check and have a good day. She had a fedex envelope and said she will fedex it back to Kia and then they get the ball rolling from there. I will let you know when the loan is paid off. She didn't know how long that would take. I hope it's within 8 days so I can cancel the bill pay through my bank before my due date.
This is an interesting thought...have the repaint, plus paint the extras on your own and THEN exercise the buyback. My guess would be they would cover the added cost as they have agreed to cover both my clear bra and window tint at this point. The check that you were given, what did it cover? On an interesting note, I went to my dealer to see how much it would be to buyout my lease, if I could get 0% APR (I can dream). They would not even consider doing anything on my car until I had chose one of the three options officially. Personally, I just wanted some additional information that may alter my decision, as it may cheaper for me to apply my buyback to a 0% or 0.9% APR purchase.

Not certain if either of you two have seen the official offer letter yet but it did say you could "trade up" for a different model and cover the difference if any with regard to MSRP. Seems like that would be complex to me with a collateral swap. My thought is take the buyback, and use the cash you have spent to date (returned in check form) and use that for a 2019. I am certain a good or better deal could be had. Not sure on lease incentives with the 19s but may be able to get a great deal. I even considered taking the buyback, then re-leasing an 18 (much better lease cash and loyalty cash) and redoing the process.Considering doing the same once I get mine back, for the same reason. Full buyback, then have a chunk o cash to put down, along with lower APR? That's a dam tough proposition to pass up, but I'd definitely run the numbers and see how it would work out.
I suppose i had not considered that. I will try to give them benefit of doubt and raise a PR storm should they not pay it off!!!If they take the car and don't pay it off it would be theft.
I was told I just had to submit the paperwork before the deadline, which I did. My complaint was that I did not have adequate time to respond as I needed the details on my three options first, plus I had to get the other parts repainted. Later I found out that I did not get the appropriate primer put on my car.Not certain if either of you two have seen the official offer letter yet but it did say you could "trade up" for a different model and cover the difference if any with regard to MSRP. @StungnTn - remember there is a 30 day window on exercise of buyback AFTER repaint. I am not certain when your 30 days started so just a friendly reminder

A while back, someone posted about a dealership that was buying up all the unsold Sunset Yellows. Anyone remember that?
Got it. Ok. My brother in law sent me a picture that his buddy took in a Florida. He hauls cars and he took 7-8 from a Florida dealership to a paint shop this weekend. It was wild seeing all those beautiful yellows on one truck. That was me, RK Kia in Vineland NJ told me they were buying the yellow Stingers from local dealerships who didn't want to deal with repaints.
Any word on your repaint status? Only thing on mine is Kia refusing to repaint my bumper and tailgate 3 times. May stop by Friday on my off day to see how it is progressing. Been 2 weeks today since I dropped it off.Got it. Ok. My brother in law sent me a picture that his buddy took in a Florida. I stopped by the paint shop last week. It was painted and waiting on a wet sand. I was informed by then today that they prepped the front and back bumpers so they can be painted. The shop I chose made the suggestion. The foreman basically said that it would not feeling right for him to do every major component and then not do the rear bumper. With a job this big, it’s customary for them to paint it all. Just like removing the glass. He said that they built their reputation on quality and complete work. I had a good feeling about them from the beginning.Big question, how did you get them to redo your rear bumper? That and the rocker panels are the only thing they have said they won't do. If it's just 'someones decision', then it's going to be a big issue for me, and I will handle it with them further.
Thanks @BallsAwesome

Yeah. That’s the weird thing. It’s an additional warranty claim for anything that’s not in the letter.Awesome, thank you for that information. Now I can go to Kia and raise hell about their being too many ways to screw the system to give different results to everyone affected, assuming they get a half decent paint job to start with.
@BallsAwesome Trust me, I am more than happy you are being well taken care of. My problem is this screws the ones of us that the shop goes by the letter of the Kia instructions to redo the car. Hell I had to get the shop to file a separate warranty claim just to cover the dam front bumper with the headlight rub issue. I'll update once I speak with the Kia rep for the umpteenth time.
