Stinger JB4 Pure Hybrid Turbo Testing

I still don't see how that can possibly add up to $13k, but if that's what they want then that's what they want.

I can see it. Its honestly not too bad for everything you get. its just really bad price in terms of the pointless upgrades. Intake system is fine, ic is fine, dumps are the same (2.5) all because the design is moved from the OE placement.

A good ball-bearing turbo (Precision, for example) is ~$1500. Overestimating a lot of stuff, here's what I break it down into:
$3k for turbos
$1k for manifolds
$1k for exhaust / downpipes
$1k for intercooler
$1k for wastegates and BOV
$100 for intakes (it's literally just a filter on the turbo)
$500 for meth
$400 for hardware (oil lines, coolant lines, etc)

That totals ~$8k. Where the hell is the other $5k coming from? Even if the tune is another $1k, something isn't adding up.

Isn't the number inside the parenthesis the cost in thousand ? it adds up to 12K and then 1K more for the tune.

You're getting into the 60+k range for total cost and then all the nonsense involved with running meth, no warranty, etc. Or you can spend the same amount (or less) on a low mileage 2017 or 2018 used Audi S7 and have a similar car that just plain works with pump gas and has significantly more tuning potential. I know this is a tuning forum, but the level of drama to get suitable performance seems to be excessive.

Best,

Best,
It is like the 10th time I've seen you repeating in every thread that a used Audi is a better deal. No offense but you sound like a broken record.

I don't know about the 10th time, but I'm a data driven kinda guy and I haven't yet jumped into this pool. So I've got options. I can understand why early adopters might have a different take on things. I'm just calling 'em like I see 'em...not trying to stir the pot.

Best,

Right, remember we are only in our first year. The s7 has the aftermarket support we do not yet. Give it time.

Definitely takes time. In the interim, we've got internecine warfare among the few tuners who are willing to play in the space and a tuner that claims to have big power with hybrid turbos...if only they could release it to us because they're worried about reverse engineering (a year afterwards with still no product on sale). Life is too short. Hoping things improve.

Best,

Ya idk when the lap3 will drop if ever lol. These are available and the tuning requirements are available aswell. I think people just want to see some track times.

And its really only 40-50 hp. Lap3 ecu tune w wmi on stock turbos 490hp.
with full exhaust and primary cat delete.
and it is more like 480ps which translates to 473hp.

I've seen 2 cars one at 480 and one at 490. So the 490 is really 483 ish. Still less than 50 hp gain.

Remember dynos are all relative. He had almost +200 hp and + 200 tq. So if you dynod at 365 expect to be around 560 hp.
I thought with their dyno jet adjustment they thought 530-540. And most stock dynojets are 330-340 plus the 200.

Like i said all dynos are different best to look at gains not so much the overall number. So if you dynod stock at 330-340 then expect close to +200 on top of that.

Even dynos of the same type can read differently. They're not precision instruments, but they are relatively consistent between readings, assuming similar environmental conditions.

Hybrid turbos quickly price themselves out of reasonable feasibility. Before did all this I would just go with a more performance oriented platform. Hopefully someone figures out the woeful lag on initial acceleration, that would help a lot.

No lag here, 1.83 60 foots and 3.65 0-60 on the Tork ecu tune.

Why do you have “woeful” lag?!? We have small twin turbos so lag is basically eliminated... Better bring your car in for service since it sounds like you may have turbo spooling issues.

No lag here, even before JB4 and other bolt ons. Instant torque.
