Stinger build page is active

The lack of exterior/interior combo options is a bummer. I wonder/hope its just for this first batch of cars? I imagine that to start getting these things in showrooms at a reasonable time frame, they may not have built too many combinations, but maybe that could change later in 2018.
I think the lack of combo options is a result of Kia having already built these cars. May be next year they'll have a built to spec option?

I hope they are still updating the builder. I just went through every trim and yellow was not available at all... but when I chose an AWD option on GT all-season tires were an option. Both of these things contradict earlier posts.

Hahah, you're right, now Yellow is removed entirely. Kia wtf? Mismanage your website much?

Edit: LOL now you can get red non-nappa leather with several colors on the GT1 trim. What the hell is happening?!

Really disappointed on the interior color options for the Gt2. Plus they really couldn't include the cargo mat on a 52,400 car...really? At this point the car is 5k shy from the Audi s4 build I made. I could care less for the safety features your forced with on the gt2. I just wanted cooled seats and hud. Now I'm going to rethink this.

This is the risk that Kia runs by doing so much de-contenting. You're going to loose a certain number of buyers. If they just made almost everything available for choice like in other countries, then even if folks get some additional things that they might not even think they want, they'll still get it because they'll be happy to get everything that they were certain they wanted.

In the US, exterior color, interior color, features, etc. are all so streamlined, limited, and chopped up that it now causes at least a little bit of disappointment for a lot of people. Really ridiculous way to launch a car. Yet, they're not really doing this to this extent anywhere else. Some countries have limited exterior colors, but nothing sliced and diced like this seems to be.

Still, some will be able to get exactly what they were looking for (or close enough). I guess we'll see how many people they are able to get in the US with this methodology.

I'd be pumped if they added the red leather as an option on the lower GT trims or at the very least added it to more colors on the GT2. I didn't really want to spend more than $45k and the fact that I can't get the panthera metal on the GT2 with red interior or the white with the red interior isn't helping in terms of convincing me to do so.

Yes, I mentioned this too. You just have to hope they haven't got all the configurations set up yet. Otherwise, I guess it'll just be a really weird, chopped up US offering at launch unlike anywhere else.

I don’t know anymore....it’s so frustrating. I was so excited about this car and now I’m forced to pay more and STILL have compromises. Just watched this Canadian dealer video...

So besides no 360 camera and heated rear seats (knew that), we don’t get the suede headliner either. And....I have to pay GT2 money to get ventilated seats in Texas. With mediocre MPG. And...I still don’t get a heated steering wheel without AWD. And now the only dark color option remains Aurora Black Pearl....since Chroma Blue or Panthera Grey isn’t available in GT2. lol

Why am I losing features I have on a 2012 Optima HYBRID!?!?! I don’t understand.

Maybe a certified pre owned 2018 A5 Sportback Prestige with warm weather package is the better deal. I get most of the missing features, better MPG, standard AWD, and premium nameplate/dealer experience.

Just curious, what color combo? I guess they've made finding the colors you want easy since you only get one choice lol.
Snow white pearl with a black interior. I figure that will be pretty available, since it's kind of boring to most people, but I like my current white on black, so I'm fine with it. Weren't we told before that the white would cost extra? It doesn't show up that way on the build.

I wouldn't turn down high chrome red if white was hard to get. It's gorgeous in person, as most of you know. We'll see.

On the UK Stinger Configurator, you can select one of 6 exterior colors but they actually don’t give you any information on interior colors. Oddly, I might have felt better about random assignments of interior colors than the US mandatory option version where you can have red with black or black with red.

Interesting... I thought the power tailgate was only offered in GT2. The website says differently???

Crazy, my top 3 omissions are 3 things Canada is getting (all for less too but I'm not talking $ right now). Well, currently Canada doesn't get Deep Chroma Blue either, but they do get Panthera Metal, 360 Cam, and rear seat heaters. In addition, they also get the wireless phone charging which is another well noted omission by many.

There's no physical reason why the US can't have these things so I think that's what's frustrating to many. KIA actually went through the extra effort to delete these features and charge more specifically for the US. Obviously, everyone hanging out on this site actually wants the vehicle and don't want to be forced to look at something else and that adds to the frustration.

Out of all the options, I think that would be what I would pick right now. The red interior looks nice in videos, but i feel like it might would be a bit much for me in everyday practice. Can't go wrong with a black interior. Also shows way less dirt.

Interesting... I thought the power tailgate was only offered in GT2. The website says differently???

That's different than power tailgate I believe. The power tailgate will close the trunk when you push the button. What they're describing is just the trunk latch being opened if you stand behind it with the key. It's like if someone were to press the trunk button for you. That doesn't require power.

I think, at this point, I'm going to see what the G70 offers. It'll be faster, have all the options, and also has valet maintenance. If they can't figure out how to launch a vehicle then maybe I'll come back to the Stinger. I'm so disappointed.:(

So I've got a dealer bringing a black G80 Sport in for me and unless I hate the test drive, that'll be my next car. Maybe some day when/if Kia adds these missing features in and opens up the color palette I’ll be back, but this rollout has been beyond disappointing.

lol, of course they removed the yellow. They clearly enjoy misleading people about features being available and then taking them away. Is this some kind of sick social experiment?

Just chatted with kia.com live chat. Here is what she said about the ASCC not on the Drive Wise package.

"I'll need to have a team member look into this for you and follow up. The build option was just added today and there may be an error. I also see that the feature is optional on all trims, but was only able to see it on the GT2 when I'm building the vehicle."

She said someone is going to contact me soon

I played around with the builder and sat there screaming KIA WTF ARE YOU DOING!? inside my head but this is encouraging. I was seriously in disbelief of the lack of build options I was seeing. I REALLY want the red interior but it's not available in my first OR second choice of colors? Good grief. Hopefully, they'll have answers later this week when they open the Stinger Salon at Montgomery Mall here in Maryland.

These absurd compromises aren't specific to Kia. It seems like every time I come across a car that I like...or that is good enough to take a look at...I am unable to configure it how I would like. The frustrating option choices seem to afflict American and Asian brands the most though. More often than not, I can configure one of the German competitors more closely to how I would like the vehicle. It's not just the luxury German models either. VW seems to offer many more configuration options across trim levels. Maybe this is where Kia should be trying to beat the Germans.

Congrats Kia..
As a long time BMW customer...you snagged my interest with this Stinger..
And now you’ve lost me...what a cluster f*ck..
I have no tolerance for incompetence..
I’ll check back in the Spring to see if they got their shit together..

Very interesting indeed.

I also noticed that Panthera metal is only available with the GT trim and no other trims.

Ceramic Silver seems to be exclusive to GT1 and GT2 trims.
This whole site is whacked. Yellow and panthera metal only on 1 option. Even the red leather changes on exterior colors from GT1 or GT2. Ridiculous showing so many color options on the E models and you can’t get red with red.
