Stinger build page is active

My dealer in Dallas told me they will have a few in stock within a few weeks and that Kia is only shipping 5% of the total allocation in the GT2 trim. I find that very interesting.
Recognition that unlike us fanboys the gen pop won't be lining up to fork over $52k on a Kia?

5% doesn't seem like much. I wonder what percentage of Mustang GT and Camaro SS sell over their smaller-engined counterparts...
Just test drive the GT2. They have them marked up 5000. I said I’m not paying that.

Wow. What dealership might I ask?

Edit: saw the sticker.

Lol! That's ridiculous. At least they're very explicit about it being a "dealer markup"...appreciate the honesty there! Not.

I said nice try. Car was pretty nice and they have try a markup with all the publicity. Crazy having all that power from a kia. Pretty and the heads up display is bright.

I am not sure I would compare the estimated sales of the GT2 trim level of the Stinger to how many Mustangs or Camaros are sold with a V8. Very different customer base there.

I think it would align more with something like how many 330i's does BMW sell vs. the 340i.

But if anyone is curious I believe the GT is about 40% of Mustang sales and the SS is about 30% of Camaro sales.

How else are they gonna get it on there? Gonna be tough putting on a $5000 charge for Armor All, right?

Yeah, 330i vs 440i makes more sense. I get the feeling that with the Kia Stinger, it would be more like a 70/30 2.0T favor even if availability was unlimited.

I think estimating how many base/premium Stingers vs. GT trim Stingers to keep in inventory and/or on lots wouldn't be too far off the mark if they used some of the German luxury 2.0T vs. 3.0T sales numbers to guide them.

I think I mentioned something along these lines here on the forum before. The sales will likely be made up mostly of 2.0T models along with some GT and GT1 trim 3.3T's. I think dealers will not order very many GT2's (Kia seems to agree with only making them 5% of the population). So those hoping to see a bunch of GT2 AWD models sitting on dealer lots with "money on the hood" down the road might be in for a rude awakening.

Money on the hood for their best car is probably something they're actively trying to avoid...

. Man I wish my dealership would. They took out features, charged us a corporate markup compared to other markets, and now the dealer wants to get in on it too? Hell naw.

My dealer just called me, he'll have a GT2 AWD Ceramic Silver / Red Nappa Leather on his lot for me around December 20th. Only asking for a 1k deposit, which I think is fair and NO markup. I'm pretty happy with his response!

edit: Dallas Area btw

I think I would jump on that opportunity. Reserve that thing!

You should definitely reserve it if that's the color combo you want otherwise I would definitely wait because there's no use buying it just to get one of the first ones if you don't like the color especially for he price you'll be paying.

Haha, I thought they might try to "sneak" it into the final price without making it explicit. Maybe come up with some bullshit "dealer fee" or something. (Well, they are doing that, but I'm just surprised they actually used the word "markup." It's just an offensive word to use because you know it's arbitrary.)

I'm sure they're only using that word because they have to by some law. I can't imagine any dealer wanting "markup" on the window sticker...

Guess it’s less offensive than “extra profit.”

Or "customer stupidity surcharge"? Reminds me--I read somewhere there's a rebate. True? How much?

I had to laugh when a rep sent me a picture today of a window sticker (for a 2.0, which I've told him repeatedly I don't want): the pic cuts off just left of where you would be able to see that markup box.

Same rep still hasn't answered my messaged question of whether we will be testing a 3.3, but I have time to waste tomorrow and they have a GT2 in the showroom (which they won't allow drives in), so I guess it's time to go back. Fortunately, another dealer is (supposedly) arranging a test in a GT1 for me, until they get delivery of a GT2. This is a weird way to do business.
