Stinger build page is active

I had to laugh when a rep sent me a picture today of a window sticker (for a 2.0, which I've told him repeatedly I don't want): the pic cuts off just left of where you would be able to see that markup box

Hahaha. What does he think you're gonna think when you see the actual sticker? Didn't think that far ahead?

This is a weird way to do business.

50% of a car salesman job is to get you in the door so they can put the screws to you..

New car candidates:
2018 GTI Autobahn DSG (White Silver Metallic or Dark Iron Blue Metallic)
2018 Golf R DSG (Lapiz Blue Metallic)

I can't keep track of all the disillusioned, potentially formerly potential Stinger buyers (myself included) on this forum, but I'm taking a wild guess about you status.

Yes, and 60% of MY job is to walk out after I've wasted 5 hours of his time without buying a car, if he treats me like I don't know what I want. (Yes, I've done that. It was FUN! But too long a story for here.)

i'm still fine with the stinger considering i can't get what i want with another model. i don't feel disillusioned. i don't like the fact that i'd be getting a much better deal if i lived in canada and i understand why some people won't buy the stinger out of principle for this reason or that reason. but show me where i can get the equivalent of a stinger gt2 for the same price and maybe i'll add another car to my list.

Very much this. I'm bound to be testing some of the "competition", but most of them start at the price of the gt2. I know I could get a vice Maxima or Mazda 6 for less, but I doubt it would be as fun

I haven't driven a newer Maxima but I have driven the Camry, Accord, all the cars that compete with them. The Stinger has a completely different feel. I'm going to guess the Maxima doesn't drive all that much differently from an Altima. If so, somebody fill me in. I certainly don't see the Maxima as being a competitor to the Stinger, so... I think Stinger buyers are going to be very happy with their purchases.

Interesting .. Switzerland only has one model/config of the Stinger :)

I know slightly used 2016 or 2017 models are out of the question for some, but I've started to at least give some consideration to loaded versions on comparable BMW's, Audi's, etc. My favorite so far is the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport and Q60 Red sport. I've found a couple 2017s not too far from me with 5k or so miles on them in the $45k range with all of the options and them some of the Stinger GT2 and a 400 HP engine.

Haven't given up on the Stinger yet. It's still on the top of my list. But the fact that i'm even considering other options at this point after being so completely sold on the Stinger before really says something about the way this rollout has been handled IMO.

Hmm. Let me guess. Red with black interior?

Hehe, not really :) But ther's only the completely loaded GT with everything in. I think my only option was external and internal colour plus towing hook. Everything else is in.

I'm not saying you should or shouldn't buy, but consider that most of these late model, low mileage cars were likely dealer demos and/or loaners, especially if they're selling them as "new." This could be a good thing, or a bad thing, depending on your perspective.

I think I would be wary of buying one of those models as a "new" car. But some of the German models have very good CPO warranties that exceed Kia's 5/60,000. That might give someone the piece of mind they need in the face of their reliability concerns (you even get a loaner every time its in for warranty work).

A 1-2 year old German CPO model with all of the same options for less money could/should be an option for some.

I like the Q50 Red Sport, but my thing with it was no Android Auto and no ventilated seats. I was kinda turned off after that. I'm probably not like most people here though. Yes, I want a car that is fast and fun to drive, but I really need my features. I can only drive so fast most of the time, these features will be getting used almost all of the time that I'm driving.

I have a 2016 Maxima, it's a good car, definitely a lot more aggressive than the Altimas I've driven (probably similar to an Altima SR). The engine is very responsive but the FWD kills the car. If the Maxima was RWD, I probably wouldn't be looking to upgrade. IMO you get better bang for your buck from the Maxima if you take the performance considerations out, the interior in my opinion is far nicer on the Maxima.

Oh yeah, and I average 34 MPG on the interstate going 70 thanks to the rubberband transmission this thing has, and it has the 360 camera.

I COMPLETELY agree with you. So maybe there are two of us in the minority. For my next purchase I was looking for a daily driver/"high-ish" performance car amalgamation. Where I would comprise a little on each thing to get both (lower fuel economy with summer tires that wear out faster but with a nice interior and lots of tech kind of thing). The Stinger rang all the bells on paper, that is until Kia decided to s**t it all up. So here I am discussing CPO luxury cars and waiting on the G70 to hopefully be what I thought the Stinger was........

Just chatted with kia.com live chat. Here is what she said about the ASCC not on the Drive Wise package.

"I'll need to have a team member look into this for you and follow up. The build option was just added today and there may be an error. I also see that the feature is optional on all trims, but was only able to see it on the GT2 when I'm building the vehicle."

She said someone is going to contact me soon

Just wanted to update anyone that was still wondering, the Smart Cruise Control does come with the Drive Wise Package! Source: Stinger pamphlet found at the dealership.

Is "smart cruise control" the same thing as "adaptive cruise control" in other cars?

Yes, but some systems are better than others. Some will only work down to a certain speed, others will stop the car for you in traffic and start it again when traffic moves. Etc...
