Stinger Brake Pads Replacement

I put together a doc while researching brakes that might help other using this thread and others:

Front uses a 1001 “brake slot size” which is pretty generic and thus many options fit this.
Difference between generic and car specific seems to be some anti-squeal weights attached that may or may not do much.

EBC

EBC Yellow

  • Yellow seems to be better regarded than Red
  • Yellow more dusty than red
  • Yellow worse performance cold?
  • Don’t seem to have clinking issues
  • Front DP42356R
  • Rear DP42357R
  • Pricy, $400 CAD for a set
  • Decent availability

EBC Red

  • EBC Brakes DP32356C - Redstuff Ceramic Front Brake Pads
  • EBC Brakes DP32357C - Redstuff Ceramic Rear Brake Pads
  • Current price vs Yellowstuff seems similar on CAD market

Powerstop

Z26

  • Seems to exhibit a clinking when shifting
    • Apparently reduced issues in newer (2021+) batches but might not be totally gone
  • Good availability
  • $250 CAD for a set w/ hardware kit

Stoptech

Centric Posi-Quiet

  • FRONT
    • [OLD] Centric 105.60420 (vehicle specific - with weights)
    • [NEW] Centric 105.21450 vehicle specific
    • Centric 105.10010 - front (generic -with no extra weights)
  • REAR
    • [OLD] Centric 105.60410 (vehicle specific - with weights)
    • [NEW] Centric 105.21440 vehicle specific
  • Poor availability, might be getting deprecated
  • $~290CAD for a set
  • Overall well regarded, but finding stock is a pain. Would get these if I found stock at an affordable rate

Dynamic Friction (DFC)

Dynamic Friction 5000 Advance

  • Dynamic Friction 5000 (Ceramic) FRONT
    • 1551-2145-00 vehicle specific
    • 1551-1743-00 seems generic, costs 40% less
    • 340-21021 hardware kit
  • Dynamic Friction 5000 (Ceramic) REAR
    • 1551-2144-00 vehicle specific
    • 340-21022 hardware kit
  • Dynamic Friction 5000 (Low Metallic) FRONT
    • Offered for G70 specifying Brembo, likely fits Singer 3.3
    • 1552-2145-00 vehicle specific
  • Dynamic Friction 5000 (Low Metallic) REAR
    • Offered for G70 specifying Brembo, likely fits Singer 3.3
    • 1552-2144-00 vehicle specific
  • One user mentioned squealing but other did not
  • Good availability
  • $160 CAD for a set w/ hardware kit

Hawk

HPS 5.0

  • Didn't look much into these

These are for the 2.0T Stinger models.

I have not seen any EBC made for the Stinger 3.3T other than the Redstuff.

If they are for the Brembo brakes, they are the same for both engine sizes.

I installed these to replace the Powerstop Z26 pads I roasted (reusing the powerstop hardware), but have started to notice the same clunk when changing direction then braking, just FYI.

I'm gonna clean the OEM pins and springs and see if using them instead helps with the clunk.

I've got these EBC Bluestuff on my Brembos:

Front: DP52356NDX
Rear: DP52357NDX

Pretty sure that is the highest performance pads EBC has for this platform. https://ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/usa/GENESIS/G70/

How are those for daily driving? I guess I'll find out but still curious what to expect ahead of time.

The pins and springs do not contribute to the pad shifting within the caliper.

The slightly undersized pads are shifting within the caliper during direction changes.

Agreed, but I'd like to eliminate the variable for my own sanity. I have half a mind to reinstall the old pads just to see if the clunk was always there and I just never paid attention to it.

It's a track compound, so you'll have to be at peace with that. Brake dust production is prodigious, as is common with just about any high-performance pad compound. It's why I am very particular about running wheels that are easy to clean... because I have to do that frequently. You do not want to leave the dust on the wheel for long, or they will etch into the finish and become next-to-impossible to remove. Unlike metallic pads, these have good friction coefficient at low temp, which makes them workable for street use. I've had semi-metallic brake pads that worked fantastically at track temperatures, but would glide right through the first couple of stop signs on a cold Winter morning. Now, because of the high friction even at low temp, low speed feathering in traffic can be a bit tricky... and often noisy, with the Bluestuff. No clicking or any of that nonsense, just some groaning at very low speeds to let you know the race horse is indignant about being stuck doing mundane traffic duty. Nothing a guy couldn't become used to after a while and get better at taming it after some practice.

High speed braking is impeccable. Warm these guys up, and they are really in their elements. In traffic, you kinda have to watch yourself if you like to run hot on public roads, as you could outbrake whomever might be behind you. I'm not into street heroics, so that's not a problem for me. Now, if it were a true emergency stop, then, well... no sense worrying about that sort of thing, and I'd just be glad I've got great stopping power.

Looks like im going to try these next, just arrived today.

Rockauto, very quick delivery (3 day), and even after shipping and brokerage, still best price

Total including shipping was under $150CAD (about $110 USD - there was a $5.00 - 21mm impact socket included in the price). There US to Canadian exchange is, not too favourably for Canadians.

FG is the OEM Brembo friction coefficients (both front and rear)

Dynamic Friction DFC 5000 Advance
GG for front (made in Korea)
GH for rear (made in China)

Interesting my 2144 was China with GG and 1743 was Korea with FF

You sure you put the springs in correctly? If you didn’t have to apply pressure while installing the second pin, the spring is backwards. Learned that one the hard way.

Does anyone have a link where I can purchase the current version (or any good version) of the Posi-quiet rear pads (For brembo) I found this amazon link, but I think they are the old ones, and not sure If it comes with the requires accessories

If not, does anyone have recommendations for quiet (i dont care about low dust or not) rear pads I can get quickly?

Just realizing these might be the pads for the non-brembos

I am using these (not the Amazon link) for about 10k KMs so far.
Working well, and silent.

@michaelpw97 we have both the Posi-Quiet for Brembo rear pads in stock, as well as our own rear pads in stock, both available to ship today for you.

Shoot us an email ASAP so we can get that taken care of for you.

I've just approached 46K km and the front pads are due for a replacement soon... The dealer quoted me a price for the front pads at $900 (offered a discount from $1,300). I haven't had any issues with the OEM Brembo pads but based on other threads, I'm looking to replace them with aftermarket pads.

I do a mixture of city and highway driving. I'm torn between the EBC yellow or red stuff. Looking for any feedback on the EBC pads and/or other recommendations.

Thanks all!
I have EBC redstuff pads on my Jag XE and they are excellent. Quiet and smooth in operation, with very good initial braking effort. They are ceramic so produce little of no dust, keeping the wheels clean

The ones I linked Via amazon? Also considering the Z23's. Do you have a preference for rear rotors? Considering just paying up for the OEM Brembo Rears...
Sorry I wasn't very clear.

I used the pads I linked. (not the ones on your Amazon USA link). I edited my post to be more clear.

Has anyone tried the Advics Ceramics?

ADVICS AD2145 - Front
ADVICS AD2144 - Rear

I was trying to find the Posi-Quiet, just can't seem to find them in stock. Rock Auto has these Advics, looking for a good daily driver setup.

Also, I'm not quite understanding the Posi-Quiet rears, 105.60410, on the forums they say "weights" what is that? Looking online, I see things listed as shims, is that same thing?
