SSR down pipes + Thermal cat back = DRONE

Sounds similar to what my car does. Here is a video of my car this is with door open so it’s sounds really loud in video. Yours sound like this?

Sounds slightly similar. Is that in neutral or rolling down the road? I don't get any noise in park/neutral.

That’s on third gear around 1800rpm then I give it throttle. It does not make that sound it neutral load has to be applied to motor for it to make the sound. I just ordered the jun cat back and I’m hoping the resonated x pipe solves my rasp sound. Let me know if you ever get it sorted.

I'd say that sounds like the vibration/buzz that I'm hearing, which is definitely not rasp. I've noticed a small amount of rasp, I'll pay a little closer attention next time I take her for a spin. Are you running the same set up as me? Curious how the jun's sound.

It does not have any resonators rear the x pipe but it does have those second mufflers I thought those are for cutting down drone.

They aren't "second mufflers". No exhaust gases flow through them.

They're helmholtz resonators.

It doesn't have an x-pipe either. The mid-pipe is separated in the middle.

I’ve taken my car too three different shops to find a cure of this sound and all three think it’s rasp in the downpipes. The last shop I took it to is a tuner shop that knows it’s stuff. When I took him for a drive he said it’s the downpipes right away. I had his look around and make sure nothing was loose. The heat shields are all kind of loose. He tightened this up
But the sounds still there. I still hope it turns out to be something else but it’s looking like a side affect of deleting the cat so far. I found lots of info of other people having this sound after installing test pipes. They said adding a resonator or high flow cat would probably stop it. I just have the factory catback with jun downpipes now and my evc jun catback is going in Saturday.

Yup that’s the name, I could not remember it at the time.

I just wanted to add if this sound is rasp the thermal is not helping with not having a x or a h pipe, plus not having any resonators up front near the downpipes. I’ve been talking to another stinger owner with ssr downpipes and borla cat back and he gets this sound as well. The borla does not have any resonators as well. I’m just crossing my fingers the resonated x pipe on the jun evc takes care of it. If not I might look into adding high flow cats to the jun downpipes. The person I got my jun downpipes and evc has contacts with jun so if the catback does not help I’ll see if they can be a help.

Finished with the sound dampening today and went for a spin. It was much more pleasant. Used Noico 80m from Amazon, had great reviews. Also used some roof shielding tape in the trunk area, was suggested on my facebook post. Pulled out the rear seats and did that area too. I drove with just the drunk done and it was a meh difference, doing the rear seats made it at least 50% better. Still have that vibration, or possibly rasp. I have a buddy coming over today who is big into cars and will take him for a spin and see what he thinks. It REALLY sounds like a vibration underneath the hood in a specific spot, but I could be wrong.

with the jun bl dps and thermal, I finally got to really let loose last night in sport mode....wow!!! The sound is loud and comes alive, love it...the performance, it just BREATHES!! I'm happy with it, for now...but we'll see how long I keep the thermal before possibly going back to my plan of either selling the thermal and going back to the stock muffler with better piping to match the jun bl dps diameter or just cutting off the thermal muffler to replace with stock muffler. Getting close to 40! LMAO

Are you getting any metal rasp sounds at lower rpm. Like if you shift into manual mode go to 3rd and give enough throttle that turbos start to spoil or so. 1800rpm to 2400 is where I get it.

yes, raspy around 1500-2500ish range. But I've had that with all of my test pipe/midpipe/catback modifications in past cars. On my g37 sedan I purchased aftermarket resonators to get rid of the rasp.

I hope the resonated x pipe on the jun evc takes care of my rasp. Or I might look into adding high flow cats to the jun downpipes. At least the stinger does not rasp super easy. Yours might rasp more then mine because the thermal has no resonators near the downpipes. I’ve read of people wraping the downpipes to stop rasp but I’m not into doing that on my car.

Curious, what do you mean by wrapping? And with what?

I have the ssr dp and junbl gt non evc.
I do not notice anything I'd consider rasp at all. Loud yes resonance yes cruising at comfort but not that bad. I will soundproof eventually.
I dont get rasp but gurgles when downshifting or coasting. Very mellow burbles but makes me happy hearing it. The poor man's pops bang crackle. I'm ok w that

Hmm so do thermals have zero rasp with no dp?

It's very slight, nothing like my NA G37 sedan with test pipes/mids/axelback. I'm ok with it, but others may not. I'm just an old school street racer at heart..lol

Guys so is it just me
But i watched the thermal YouTube video and hear rasp.. r u sure it's not the thermal exhaust?
I remember watching it a while back and I chose to pass cos I kept hearing some sort of rasp in their YouTube video
