Spark Plugs

So, I just wondering, the reason why the stock spark plugs come with a wide gap and A/F ratio high in gas....someone???

Poorly designed from the factory, IMHO. Maybe they planned on trying to make the plugs last 100k miles with that huge gap? No idea. Cars go in to service with stock tuning for plug/coil issues often from what I've seen so an obvious oversight.

So would it be beneficial to regap the plugs anyway even if you aren’t running a tune? Is the regapping detectable by the dealer?

Wise questions, altough, the regapping seems to me, will not be detectable by the dealer....someone....again??

Magnuson moss protects you against denial from reasonable replacement parts, like running non-OEM spark plugs. So you'd have a good case there if they tried to deny something only for running non-OEM plugs, especially considering the well documented problems everyone has with the factory plugs even on factory tuning.

@Terry@BMS, thanks for answering the questions we have on the subject. Your attitude proves your spirit of service and that makes you the best option along with your great product to buy and install in my Stinger. I hope to acquire it in this December. Thank you.

Between HKS and Denso, there's quite a significant price difference. For 2L application, the comparison is between HKS M40XL and Denso 5346. I'm not really keen to do regap and would prefer to buy and change out stock ones. I presume the stock gap for both will be different. Which one should I go for with JB4.

I don't know the Denso equivalent plug is to fit the 2L. If anyone does, be sure to share it here! The Denso plug itself is great. 5346 is for the 3.3L.

Hey terry what gap is suggested for Denso 5346. Running jb4,tork intake, Jun b down pipes, borla exhaust.i also have set of 45il here.but guys are saying they are overkill. Any thaughtz

0.022" gap is what we suggest, regardless of the plug used! :)

Just got the jb4 have stock plugs in car. Have set of 45il and set of Denso 24. Do you think 45 are to cold to run.

Denso 5346 are for the 3.3L only. Have not had a chance to source Denso plugs for the 2L but it's on my to-do list!

Has anyone else had success changing spark plugs without removing intake manifold? I’ve seen a few videos of it done

It took me about 50 minutes to check every plug yesterday without removing the manifold. Probably could've gone faster if my left hand worked 100%.

Just a wobbly head socket to get under manifold with front and back coils removed right?

Basically. I used two flex joints in my socket string, just like the picture he posted. On the middle coil, you will need to take it apart to remove it. Just don't let the spring fly! :) Also, a magnetic 10mm socket head is quite useful in removing the coils. Keeps the screw from falling into the engine bay no-mans-land.
