So I installed Borla exhaust

I've had my Borla for a few weeks and I love mine. It just keeps getting deeper sounding.

My wife and daughter say it's too loud, I just smile (it is MY car). At first, I kinda caved in to them, now I don't care (again, it's MY car). Everyone gives me thumbs up and tell me they love the sound, including neighbors...

I have noticed the sound change as it breaks in, making it sweeter sounding than before.

Like most things in life, it's a trade-off. I WOULD DO THIS AGAIN!!! But realize, it is louder;)
Hey, when u first installed it did it sound kind of raspy? Did mine yesterday and I’m not crazy about how loud and not really that deep it is. However, at higher RPMs it sound pretty awesome.

None what so ever, sounded like crap sometimes until I got tips. Lots of weird other noises. Now it’s clean and sounds amazing. You using stock tips?

Stock tips. They would make that big of a difference?

yes cuts in cabin noise by like 70%. no loud annoying hum at certain rpms. check the exhaust quiet to loud thread i just posted last week what i was using. completely changed the exhaust. its not a placebo its night and day difference. if i have the windows up i can barely hear it sometimes to be honest, so i find my self opening the windows more, unlike stock tips its loud as hell in the cabin always and wasnt a clean sound because of the echoing under the car! outside prob sounds the same you just dont get the other garbage noise because of the reverb with the stock tips in cabin. at least in my case the car sounds way different, sounded really weird sometimes until i got tips

I put tips on my Ark GRIP exhaust after trying various other methods to quiet it down. I concur that they make a huge difference. I can still hear it when I want to, it may still be a little bit too loud for some but I think it's to a sound level you can get used to easily enough. Highway driving long distances for someone in the back seat would still not be advisable though.

Thanks, I found the tips. How is the figment and quality?

Ovals don’t need trimming. I mean they are 25$ each but completely change the car. If you want to buy something more expensive go ahead but I don’t see the need I think they look great. One side touches the diffuser but it’s a non issue you can’t tell. Unless your borla is 100% perfectly centered it will probably touch slightly . C329CA9A-8A2B-4280-AE3F-1843A348257C.webp

Just order these!
I live in Hawaii so shipping sucks no matter what. I paid like 100$ for shipping so it’s like it’s 50$ per tip lol I didn’t want to wait a month as opposed to days.. well worth it imo. Borla quoted me almost 300$ for shipping for the exhaust itself lucky I found it elsewhere haha. Best of luck to you, you won’t regret it!!

Yeah it was like $140 the fastest shipping. I went with $50 2 week option. One thing I am concerned about is the material. The website didn’t say what they are made of. Do they seem like decent quality?

They seem fine for sure. Mine looked great out of box no defects... I mean in person they make the car look super aggressive . Time will tell, either way you’ll get the exhaust sound fix you are looking for and I’m sure you’ll be super happy. If these end up looking like crap after a year I’ll get something better . But the whole point for me was to get something that wasn’t ridiculously expensive for something I wasn’t even sure would work/fit as well as I thought it did. So moving forward I would feel perfectly fine splurging since I know they are life savers lol but I love the way these look right now so I hope they stay this way. You got the 51mm right ? For borla?

Yeah, 51mm inlet. Thanks for the tip (pun intended)

I've had mine installed for about a year through a our harsh salt filled central NY winter and they still look fine. Worse case you could have them painted black if they get scuffed up but so far they seem like they will last.

good to know, thanks!

Gosh I need to hear the Borla exhaust in person... I heard the MBRP in person and loved it but am so curious now...

Plus the bigger question is... MBRP using stock tips or Borla using Borla tips or none-Borla tips...

That's reassuring!

Tips are installed, I actually got them last week but wanted to wait before posting.
First, the quality seems quite good but only time will tell how they hold up. Fitment was fine too.
As for the how they sound; definitely the in cabin noise is significant reduced. My wife agrees too. I have them sticking out the back a little more than the stocks. I’ll push them back in all the way to see if there is a difference.
At 2500-3000 under load there is still a less than desirable exhaust note but not as bad. Honestly it reminds me of a Chevy Lumina or something similar the way the borla sounds at those rpms. At higher revs it sounds exotic.
I only have about 200 miles on the exhaust so I’m hoping it will settle down once it’s broken in.
Overall I like these tips. They look good and helped significant with in cabin noise. Thanks to punkfs for the link to these

wonderful, yeah well it'll settle in lol. high rpm low gears are crazy sounding i agree very exotic sounding indeed. I'm not sure if the exhaust changed or i just got used to it after about 1200 miles because I just absolutely love it! Can never go back to stock its just so fun rippng around in manual mode. 90% of the time I drive in sport, which cruising around seems to keep the rpms right around 2k which is a constant noise; if im trying to just chill or have other people in the car I leave it in comfort and drops the crusing rpms to around 1500 which i dont hear anything at all. might be my trunk sound deadening or my ears that cancel out that specific tone.

I mean, borla is super loud honestly lol try being on the outside :p, i tend to always drive with my windows open to hear the exhaust more now though! def didnt do that with stock tips. hope it works out for you!! enjoy and be safe!!

Edit: did it help you enough to where you are going to keep the exhaust or you might change it out?

Good question and I forgot to touch on that. I am definitely now leaning more towards keeping it than I was before. I haven’t yet put away the stock exhaust but I’ll wait a few hundred miles before making a final decision. Again, besides that undesirable noise from 2500-3000 under load I like the sound.
