Race Chip GTS Black Review

Also, I've been chatting with Racechip customer service, and it took them a few days or more to respond for the first time, I guess is o.k. since they're likely busy (though jb4 guys replied in 2 days), but after that, I've been emailing back and forth with more questions and chatting with them and it's been great response right back and forth, now that I'm in their list to reply too, so thumbs up.
But, here's the but.
I'm trying to find out more DETAILS how the maps work in general and compared to the 3 diff model levels.. and some replies seem good and well answered but some are still vague...
so,
- they say all their maps are designed for stock car, so I should be able to use Maps 0-5 or 6 or 7, model respectfully. Hmm.. That's cool I don't need mods to use all their maps.. Great.. unlike JB4, where I'd have to pay SO MUCH, and not be able to use maps higher than 3 with my Stingers set up.. so why pay for top model if I can't use 60% of it's features and capabilities.. so Racechip is sounding like a good option, to buy the S (lower 5 map) model, for my stock. even though I could go GTS 7 map model (by choice as I don't want to over work my car and be safe) personal choice.

- but I can not get a clear answer from them on the following:

A) if I can their maps are designed for stock cars, should i be able to get th 34 HP and 74 lb.ft. of torque using map 5 on the S model (with me at least adding the performance plugs gapped to 26 & running 93) ? which I should, barring any humidity levels where i live whatever, etc.. by their claim.

B) if that's the case as above A, then what happens when someone does have bolt ons and plugs and 93 octane ? will they get more than the stated amount, if those numbers are for stock cars ?

if yes, bonus for those customers if not, than it's misleading to say these are designed for stock cars and post those possible gains, if mods are need to reach their numbers...

C) do the maps 1-5 do exactly the same thing on all models, but only diff. is map 6 on rs and map 7 on gts models are the upgrades in those models ? w/added option for the app ?
or do EVEN maps 1-5 in RS and GTS models each actually do a bit more than the S, and the GTS 1-5 actually is abit more aggressive than model RS ? So, example map 1 in s give 5Hp and map 1 on rs model give 6Hp and map 1 on gts model give 8hp , ect.. up thru the maps ?
or they tuned and do the same until you get map 6 or map 7 respectfully ??

D) so if design to map 7 for stock, that would suggest that having mods, the tuner chip can not detect your mods or you can not input that info into the chip so it re-works its magic to fine tune your specific car/mods ?? so this tuner is NOT for cars with mods ? Or is it ?
Again, if they can't be specific, then we're buying more blind and making uniformed decisions, like taking the the un-test chemical death jab going around right now.. Ha..

They will not answer and tell me they can not give me this reply, twice now, even though I asked to just understand for my informed decision as a consumer.
They replied this....
"" The specific details of how the product works on each map is proprietary as stated before. I cannot give you that info. I have found a phone call will get you the answers you will look for. You can either call TDot and they will answer questions you have or our toll free phone number on our website. If you cannot get the answers that way, then reach back out to me. Again, RaceChip cannot give you RPM Autoreviews (Stavros) Proprietary information on how our product works. ""

Maybe Tdot is allowed to reply to these questions but head office isn't ? Not sure, but TDot hasn't replied to 2 of my email request nor could I reach anyone on the phone.. I didn't try many times by phone.

Everyone let me know if I am Fkn an Ahole or is the info I am asking NOT Proprietary, but just simple Fkn product features !! for consumers to know the diff. from the models !!! to make an informed decision !!
I am NOT !! asking for the ingredients or scientific formula's of how your maps are tuned, just if map 1-5 are the exact same abilities, and map 6-7 in upper models are the upgraded part of the models !!!! If they refuse to answer this simple customer knowledge question, I assume you're only paying for map 6 & 7 on rs and gts. w/app option Which is actually fine, cause many will want to pay more for the added power those models offer... GREAT !

Anyone Here have any Racechip on their Stinger and Have dyno'd it and can post their chart..
I also, as per above post, have concerns their power curves on the chart, though spike up fast and great !! the down curve (all cars have), is sooner and strong dive, from what I saw, from only one guys stinger dyno, which means great power, but dies out sooner in the rpm gauge isn't a a great feature... as you'll start to lose top end.

I am so close to ordering one, but now have doubts to lack of transparency on NON-Proprietary feature info I am asking for.

Yes it was in map 7.

These are NOT Kia Stinger charts. It was a BMW 730d.
That was just an example.
so as I learn more about this and want to be safe, I understand that relation to spark plugs, YES, you need to lower the gap for adding more boost, etc.. probably down to 26 if using map 7, and stock gap is fine if only using maps 0-2, maybe 3 ? but higher than that, lowering the gap is important to be safe, etc..
I'm told by kia service manager that kia gap specs don't say 36, but range from 8-9 mm (0.0314 to 0.0354)... but I've read many places, specs show (for mechnaics to know), a 36 gap..., so it seems that going down to 31 gap, is already allowable to Kia's own spec range, so should be safe to at least go down to that, maybe round down to 30 (if odd # are not used ?).
likely safe for maps 0-3, maybe even 4 to 5 ?? Racechip can advise ?
Also ngk canada said the oem plugs are already one cold type over typical spark plugs (makes send since this is a twin turbo with boost), so already accounted for it..
But if we're adding more boost, how can we really know what gap is appropriate to be safe ?
This is where we have to trust any experts like Racechip and other specialist.

But Big question I have here for Racechip is, since gapping is VERY important to enusre proper spark, not just for power, but safety of the engine, and the tune has options from 0-7 maps, how the heck do you flip a switch to change your gap that you now set to, maybe 26 to run safe on map 7, back to over 30 to be safe when on map 0 or 1 ? Well, you can't !!

So is this Dangerous ?? or is it safe heat range / spark parameters, if just go in the middle to 28-30 gap ? is 28 gap to low on map 0 and possible issues ? and is 28 gap to high for maps 5-7 and may have issues ?
If one decides for gap 28-26 for using map 6-7, are they now forced to never go under map 5 on their car, for safety ?

I've learned there's 500-800 degree heat range, so there's room to play, but how are we sure we are in it ??

Please advise, for our knowledge and peace of mind ?

I'm on the fence to order a Racechip. or any tune for that matter.

I'm interested in the GTS version at Tdot. With the 10% of you save $65 this weekend.

Friends don't let friends buy RaceChip lol. If you want a simple to install tune get a JB4 and just don't install the OBDII or fuel control wires. You'll make RaceChip like performance but at least you'll have the option to tune it properly down the road with the extra connections, and will retain a lot more resale value when you eventually sell your car. RaceChip drops 50% as soon as you buy it as there is a very limited market it and many who buy are looking to upgrade shortly after.

I think they want to buy Racechip because of the warranty. They think Racechip would pay for the engine damage up to 10k.

I guess with a boost controller like RaceChip blowing the engine is more of a risk than with a JB4. :) But I've never heard of any RaceChip customers getting paid out on that. And know plenty who have broken things with it installed. Your mileage may vary.

KIA for sure would deny warranty. Racechip doubt would pay for every Stinger engine damage. Gotta pay to play!

Any discounts happening if I get the JB4 with wireless and the spark plug combo kit?

You can ask David from K8STINGERSTORE for discounts.

Are you saying racechip has blown stigner motors already ? and more than one and its an actually issue ??? That's an interesting post and I believe needs further clarification to what you're implying ?

Sorry, we're an every day low price business. Never do sales or discounts.

I have 44K kms I suspect it'll not be super carboned up, but some say spray way has to be done more often, and if walnut blasting, then you can go longer, but if performance is also down by going too long and if fuel economy suffers a wee bit, sooner is better. I maybe should have done it at 25K kms

How about offering the free shipping to Canada as you do in the US? Ready to place my order.

Email me, terry@burgertuning.com, and we can accomidate that for you.
o.k. how about also replying to my question about your comment re: Racechip being higher risk to blow an engine and not hearing of them paying anyone out ?
Please clarify if you're aware of this happening, or were just saying it's more possible with their type of tune, and haven't heard if this has ever happened and if they car owner got his insurance $$,
or
were you referring to it actually happened and no one got paid out ?

As a competitor of theirs, I'd hope for clarity on this statement, please and than you !!

Well, we are selling our products for 10 years now, have 100 employees and sell more than 100,000 products per year. Think for yourself whether this would be possible selling a placebo.

And yes, we are not investing all our development time in just getting the maximum power.
What do you want? a) Maximum driving pleasure or b) just a higher hp number at 6000 rpm on a slip of paper?
Honestly, our customers love both ;) Faster acceleration from 0 and smooth & strong power delivery during the whole rpm range - AND a significant increase in hp compared to stock. The RaceChip dyno results show it in black and white.
so I've ordered Denso 5346 ihk24 plugs. Wondering, if car is stock except for the tune and using 91-94 octane, will the one level colder rating be an issue for the Stinger gt ? since it'll not get as much boost as those who have full bolt ons, and E this or meth that, etc.. ? is the one colder still safe to use? or is the smaller gap 24-28 really only needed ?

side note, I've found that the Audi TTRS an RS7 use a ngk plug with same hex, threading etc.. as our oem plugs, but is 1 level colder and pre-gapped at 28, and I was going to order that as it seems to be a good choice too, and likely would work well for those who want stock car with tune only ?? Feedback ??
I'm going with Denso now, but just feedback for our knowledge and reference is appreciated

So which tune did you get? I went with plugs that BM recommended on there site. Actually got the package they offer of plugs, and gapping tools.

Haven't got it yet, but going with Racechip. Reason being, I do not plan on modding my car and after Map 2 on JB4, apparently you have to be mod'd or use E this or meth that gas/mixure, and intakes, etc.etc... so if I can't use maps 3-8, why am I forced to buy their top of the line model ? ?
They have lower models, like Racechip does, with less maps and for guys who elect to not mod the shit out of their car, but they don't tune on for the Stinger gt.
So, Racechip is designed to work with a stock Stinger from map 1-7 with no mods and each map will do something.
Now, maybe map 7 of RC will be the same (close enough) power upgrade as a JB4 at map 2-3, not sure, as I have seen some dyno's and stuff, but don't recall exactly all the #'s nor have I created a spread sheet to compare, which I should have. haha...
But I like that I can have 7 options to choose from and I am guy who will truly not use map 7 every day.. not even at the track, unless I'm racing another hellcat, Vette,.. if racing a car I know I can beat or will be close, I'll try lower maps.. I don't need to over work my car every day, every race.
RC has warranty and if that means anything or garbage, I don't know but I hope to never find out.
Ps. I was fine with ordering their S or RS model, again, not caring if I get the most power trying to beat everyone, but since the warranty was only offered on the higher model and there's a promo going on from RC and a local shop in Ontario, I decided to go for the GTS model for warranty-Insurance, and what the heck, 2 extra maps for once in a while will be fun and make for cooler videos for my channel.

Look out for an update on how it works and look forward to hearing back from you on yours.

PS. I'm doing a carbon cleaning of my engine this weekend, and making before and after video of it, including removing my manifold to get a good look.

Do more research. Your logic makes zero cents. Ask yourself “why are there virtually FA RC users here”. There is a reason. I now leave you and your Stinger to your own demise. Good luck.
