It's been a while, but I remember Racechip posting about the ability to control AFR, boost, and timing. But my point wasn't specifically about timing advance, it was that while different piggybacks may have slightly different parameters, they're going to have pretty much the same thing going on for a given power level, so you'd be advised to upgrade plugs regardless of who you choose.
Hm maybe I was remembering old announcements -- here's a post from Racechip themselves on another forum, but it was back in 2018 so maybe not what actually shipped. Meaning the only thing they're adjusting is the boost via modified TMAP/MAP signals?I agree with upgrading the plugs regardless of the tune.
But Racechip does not control or even alter AFR or timing.

"As a result, relevant parameters such as the air/fuel ratio, the boost and the ignition timing can be optimized."
Would your best suggestion is to gap plugs at 0.022 with Racechip + FBOI'll give the benefit of the doubt and treat this as a clever use of words by Racechip.
Boost addition triggers automatic adjustments within specific parameters by the DME, which is why piggyback systems are considered safe. Without these DME adjustments to fuel, air-fuel ratio (AFR), timing, etc., the consequences could be catastrophic.
The Racechip relies on the DME to make these adjustments automatically. However, there's a threshold beyond which the DME won't make these adjustments unless you manually reflash the car and alter the tables – something beyond the scope of any piggyback system.
I want to clarify that I'm not suggesting proven tunes like the Racechip are unsafe; that's not my intention. the racechip is well within these parameters so are all proven tunes. My aim is to ensure a clear understanding of what's occurring and how its done.
