Now with a reputable source - 2019 options!

Kia has a history of adding features after a first run model year and not increasing prices. But it’s isuasly like adding LED headlights or ventilated seats. These are a ton of features being added standard. My guy tells me the price will remain the same but it will be interesting to see.

Anyone heard of when the 2019's will be hitting showrooms in the States? Canada has received their deliveries... or at least the initial ones.

neutral coasting is getting to be a more common feature in other brands to improve fuel efficiency. It essentially puts the car in neutral when you're off the throttle slowing down to a stop light for instance.

So, brakes only? Coming down a steep mountain road could be a problem. Engine braking is essential for safety reasons. We have the manual gate/paddle shifters for that still. But how many people will switch to manual shifting? I'm guessing a minority: a majority will ride their brakes till they glow red.

nothing to do with braking, it's neutral COASTING.
Okay, I don't understand how the feature gets engaged then. You back off the gas and neutral coasting kicks in? You apply the brakes and it goes away?

Basically yes. I'm sure there will be some parameters before it kicks in, maybe 2 or 3 seconds off the gas, only certain drive modes, etc. All you would notice is the engine RPMs would drop to idle.

From another thread, it doesn't work in Sport mode or Smart mode. If it is like what I have in our Volvo S60, if you are off the gas pedal for 2-3 seconds, it will do that, even down hills. That is when you would need to apply the brakes and manually change gears to keep the engine braking going. It's a fuel economy feature and on the S60 it doesn't works in Sport mode.

Like most of you, i'm curious to hear when the 2019s are coming to a dealer near me. I'm getting a bit antsy now that the 2018 inventory is low in my area and I might not get the color combo I want with the crazy lease deals happening.

This is what one of the guys who bought 2019 and tested this feature said in another thread.

So just a note, the coasting is only for Eco & Smart modes, which I don't particularly care for. I tried it a bit but the stop & go traffic today didn't give me much opportunity to test it out. But because it's not applicable for Comfort & Sport, I don't think it's very useful for day to day driving.

So if you set engine/transmission to Eco in Custom mode, the coasting feature would work? I would think so.

I have a 2019 GT Limited here in Canada. Take a look at the photo for the neutral coasting option. Neutral coasting is only applicable for Eco & Smart mode (not comfort, sport, or custom). I'd have to test the custom mode, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

For the record, I did not experience much jerking when in comfort mode and coming up to a stop, so maybe something changed in the 2019, but I also didn't notice it when testing the 2018.

I'll need to test it more, but my dad wants it for the weekend, so it'd have to wait. With my own family obligations (young toddler), it'll be difficult for me to get away to clear roads anytime soon.

Wonder if it will be a bit longer for the 2019 models to get the good offers like the current cash back on the lease. I'll probably stick to getting the 2018 as I need it sooner rather than later and its a good deal. I'll pretty much just be missing the ventilated seats on the premium so not a huge disappointment for me.

In the same dilemma. I am looking for GT2. I don't think 2019 will get 7900 + 1000 anytime soon. But would just wait so I can score more than 10% discount on MSRP of 2018 before incentives.

Looks like a few of us in that boat. A search on cars.com shows 3800 stingers in the wild with around 1300 being GT2. I know a couple of dealers in my area that are not listing their cars there so there are bound to be more across the US so that number is higher.

I'm glad these features are finally coming to the market. Still a little salty that the surround camera and heated rear seats weren't here in the first place though. Love my car, but those are the only two things I can't add in myself down the line that I would've liked. Curious about the neutral cruise and wonder if that something that can be programmed into the cars of all of us early adopters. I do wonder if the extra wear and tear from things like the start-stop and neutral cruising will ever catch up the vehicles down the line though.

My 2018 Stinger GT2 RWD (LSD) lacks navigation, active engine sound and coasting.

Was at a dealer in NJ this weekend, need to decide what to do with my Sunset Yellow, and was told Jan 2019
