Just for info, the USB plug is always powered (at least on US 2018 GT2).
I don’t think that is correct. If it was, my phone would be constantly connected to CarPlay. I believe when you get close to the car it powers it up. It seems to power down a few mins after you walk away.

You have a 2022, I have a 2018

This is the same way it has worked in my bmw, our 2019 Tucson, and every other car I have had. Otherwise you could run the battery out if you left your phone plugged in. But then again most of them are only 500mv, so maybe not….
If you want to prove it, get a usb powered light or fan or charger or something that you can visually see running and leave it plugged in. Lock the car and walk away. Come back an hour later (without the key and without opening the door) and you will see it turned off.

If you lock your car and put the keys 10ft or more it goes to sleep. If you leave it unlocked it will wake up and do a quick search about every hour or so. I can tell this because I have it connect to my home wifi (I use to use it to detect me coming or going and raise or lower my garage door automagically). You can see Home Assistant is detecting it home and away as it wakes up since it’s in the garage unlocked. I use to park it outside locked and it would not wakeup at all while it was locked.

That’s a completely different system. We are taking about the USB port for the infotainment system. Maybe I misunderstood the question but I thought they were asking if they plugged in one of the wireless CarPlay adapters if it would stay powered all the time. It does not. It has a light when it gets power (or at least mine does) and your phone will start the CarPlay connection process once it gets power. You can also see the wifi peer to peer it creates. I’m fact, I have updated my dongle but plugging it into a usb charger and connecting my phone to it via wifi. This is the same experience in the stinger and the Tucson and my old bmw as well. Maybe we are just talking about different things?

I have a carplay dongle. I may run a test and see if it turns on the usb when it wakes up and does the search.

I'm wrong. I took my phone to my car (no key) and it didn't connect to my AAWireless. As soon as I opened the door, it connected. So, the USB port does power off after some amount of time.

I'm confused, what are the "it"'s above. How is the stinger wifi connecting to your home wifi¿?

So I got my dongle in the mail. Just tested it out. It appears if you sit in the car after you turn it off, you still have CarPlay. The moment you open the door, it turns off immediately.

Late to the updating game. I just updated to the April update (I know there is a new one coming this month) and although everything works as intended, my navigation card is no longer recognized. I updated my system with a usb drive (using the Navigation Updater) rather than the SD card. I ejected the original SD nav card and popped in the USB drive to update the system. After the update was complete, I inserted the old SD card and the nagivation no longer works. When I eject the SD card, I just get the climate screen and no Nav screen. Any ideas as to what is going on??

Go into the sd card and delete the old nav. I still had the old nav and it didn't like that

Why did you use a USB stick instead of the SD card? Why did you remove the SD card? If you do the update again and leave the SD care in, then the updated system should recognize it.

I used a USB stick instead of the SD card. When I left the SD card in and inputted USB stick, the update wanted to use the SD card, which had the original nav version on it ; it just reinstalled what was on the SD card. When I ejected the SD card, the update then recognized the USB stick. Should I use the old SD card and install the update on that card? I didn't want to overwrite the original SD card.

So it's not important to keep the original nav SD card?

Make sure to use the proper file system.... Check what the existing one is before formatting. Fat32? The 2022 MY models don't use a sd card, rather it's all embedded now.
