New Navigation/Infotainment Update?

Will you update?

I do notice that I can hear slight dropouts of audio playing if there is a large screen update, for example when running Waze over the wireless carplay and the map makes a significant change (such as auto-zoom). Could just be that the adapter doesn't have a powerful enough processor to handle both streams if it still uses BT.
I stand corrected...
"After the Wi-Fi connection has been established, the Bluetooth signal will disconnect and all audio and video will be transferred over Wi-Fi"

I thought I read that somewhere.

Only the "monument buildings" are shown in detail. The rest are just white blocks as you can see in the background.
Here's a funny one from this weekend. This is the infamous "dracula castle". In reality it sits on a hill and the road goes around the hill so the rendering is quite awkward :))

I prefer my maps in 2d mode. Suppose that breaks any 3d buildings¿... In fact, I get confused looking at a 3d map.

Should we be expecting another update in the next few months?

Yes. Updates have been continuous, though staggered, since I did my first update three years ago.

I use this one:

And the adapter fits in the left side area and you can put your phone in the wireless charging area if you want. Or you can just keep it in your pocket at that point which is what I usually do.
So, went on an extended research exercise, decided on a wireless CarPlay dongle based on that research, purchased and installed it with good results.

Just now I checked back on this thread and discovered that, after all that, I had purchased the exact unit you recommended weeks ago. Now I know to not doubt you!

:)

So, this is my first car with CarPlay and I’m having mixed results. Fixes to issues may be Apple-related (iPhone 11Pro Max and CarPlay) or Kia-related (2022 GT2). I’m still trying to figure out the lines of demarcation.

Good:
1. The dongle setup was so simple as to almost be automatic

2. The connection at each startup is quick enough as to be seamless (start the car, reverse out of the garage, by the time I’m in drive Pandora is playing)

The Annoying:
1. No matter how I leave the infotainment unit when I shut the car off (FM playing, Pandora playing through CarPlay, Amazon Music playing through CarPlay, audio off with map up, audio off with display off) upon startup, I ALWAYS get Pandora playing through CarPlay. Why???

2. If CarPlay is up on the screen, it REALLY wants to be up on the screen. If I select the rear view / overhead view camera, within a second or two, CarPlay pops back up. I need to hit the camera button AGAIN to get and keep the camera views. Erf!

Help? iPhone settings? CarPlay settings? Kia infotainment settings?

Thanks!

Yeah, those are pretty much my experiences as well.
Haven't taken the time to really figure it out.

Strange... My connection is fairly slow, but I live with it. But I don't have some of the other problems you are describing. I think #1 is some strange ACP thing. I get Apple Music even though I usually listen to Aubile. (Sometimes I do get audible though). As for camera, etc, I never have those problems at all. I wonder what the difference is?

Just updated and immediately regret it.
1. Hate the number order of the radio preset stations. I want the stations I listen to the most at the top not my FM channels that I only listen to when I can’t get a satellite signal sitting in a drive thru line. Also who thought it’s a good idea to go left/right instead of up/down and not be the same action as the steering wheel control? So stupid!
2. Also they broke recording satellite channels. It only records the channel that you are on so if you flip to a channel and really like that song and want to hear it from the beginning, tough $hit you out of luck now. So stupid!

Actually, if you make the channels you want to record as a favorite, and enable recording, then they will all record. You just need to go re-set this up. It works, I don't have the exact key sequence in my head right now. I have 5 satellite channels that start recording when you start the car.

This post shows how I did it.

Thank you. That helps one of the two issues.

But I’m going to add one more issue to my list. The preset list you can only forward scroll by pressing the far right button on the screen. You can’t go backwards.

No. It only uses a tiny amount of power. And remember it only runs when the car is running and the usb connection has power.

Just for info, the USB plug is always powered (at least on US 2018 GT2).
