Will you update?

Makes sense about the iPhone having more horsepower then the cars system.
However, when I manually enter in my home address using the keypad while in park, my address is found right away.
I can honestly say that the voice recognition is better on my wife’s 2020 Santa Fe Limited.
It’s not even in the phone itself. When you tell Siri to do something it sounds that out to a server on the internet that processes it against other similar requests and then looks at which ones were accurate and which ones were not and then gives you an answer. That’s why it works so much better. But it is interesting that another Hyundai based system works better.

The Hyundai at least in my wife’s car does work better, ha.

reading about this nav update. My Mac does not have a SD card reader. is it possible to just have the dealer update the software or can I get an updated sd card from Kia? I am not an IT type person

Updated my infotainment system a few days ago. The earlier system let me skip Sirius/XM stations I didn't want to listen to in the Channel List. That feature appears to be missing from the update or has it been moved to someplace I'm unable to find?

While I agree, in fairness your iPhone is using a cloud-based system with a lot more horsepower (no pun intended) behind it. Your car is doing it all locally, and the algorithm has to be a lot weaker as a result.
Hey there I got a question for you I noticed we have the same car and color.. just got my finger today and I'm wondering where is the wireless Android CarPlay? Mines is a 2022 GT2 but it's asking me to plug in the USB am I missing something?

Bad news. The 22’s are wired only. Some sort of software issue. I use Apple and bought a wireless CarPlay adapter. It works great. Not sure if something similar exists for Android or not.

I made the leap. So far so good. It took about 4 hours because I had to dust off an ancient lap top with an SD card reader that took forever to download the update and back up the SD card. I like the look of the new UI, especially for the radio.
Do you have the version # available? Do you think this was done automatically at dealerships for existing 2021 inventory?

Software version: CK19.USA.sop.v123. You would think they would do the update at the dealership. But I have learned that you would think the dealership would do a lot of things that they do not do.

Hi there,
I just updated my SW on 2020 Stinger and I like the new interface. I do have one gripe and that is regarding voice on Android Auto. I have a Telluride as well and AA on there I have to hold the steering wheel voice button to get Android voice, if I just press it lightly I get Kia voice. I didn't like that about Telluride when compared to Stinger but now the new update matches Telluride and I now have to press and hold the steering wheel voice button to get AA. No big deal as I typically just say Hey Goodle aloud to activate it but still a change I am not too fond of.

Side note... AAWireless is absolutely awesome and worth every penny. It's 2021 and cars shouldn't need cables to run AA or Carplay. If you have the $100 or less then I recommend buying it.

Which wireless adapter did you choose and does it fit alongside your iPhone within the phone “drawer”?

I use this one:

And the adapter fits in the left side area and you can put your phone in the wireless charging area if you want. Or you can just keep it in your pocket at that point which is what I usually do.
Excellent! Thank you!

How long does it take to pair and fully connect when you enter the car? Any audio quality changes? Any difference in CarPlay functionality from a hardwire connection?

No differences, it does take between 20-60 seconds to get going. The quality is essentially BT, so it is very close to wired at this point.

FYI, BT is only used to make the initial connection, it then switches to WiFi for the actual running connection.

I believe the audio is still sent over BT, but I could be wrong.

I do notice that I can hear slight dropouts of audio playing if there is a large screen update, for example when running Waze over the wireless carplay and the map makes a significant change (such as auto-zoom). Could just be that the adapter doesn't have a powerful enough processor to handle both streams if it still uses BT.
