Never had a car that turned so many heads.

This week I had two comments in my underground, the first was a guy with a white 330, he commented on how good it sounded (it's stock) and asked about it. "Is it a 6? is it quick?" he asked - "Twin Turbo, V6" I said, he put his hand up and said - "say no more"

THe second was a guy pulling the cover off a new(?) Yamaha R6 with his wife/gf/so - his comment "Oh Man! that looks awesome! what is it? the colour!" My reply - "it's a KIA" - "That's a KIA?!! - holy $$it! it's gorgeous" I agreed with him and we chatted about bikes and cars for a bit

today I stopped in a small town about 90 miles from home. At the Dollar General store, an older man said 'nice color choice (orange and black). It didn't occur to me at the time, but after he left, I thought that maybe he said it because the town's school colors were orange and black. It was 3:30, so I drove over to the school and all the kids were getting out. I got a LOT of second looks--I'm sure the fact that they were their school colors had something to do with it.

A few weeks ago as I was leaving work one of our board of trustees was getting into his A7 and stared pretty hard as I drove by. When I was at the stoplight he slowed way down and twisted his head around as he was passing trying to check out the badge on the the front of my car. I have the "E" badge on the front so I'm sure he was like "what in the hell type of car is that?" Lol

I've gotten a few responses from people over the 2-3 months of ownership.
  • Mechanic servicing my mum's car sees mine parked outside. Asks if the Kia is mine and reckons it looks great with the re-badging.
"Does it go?". Yes. Yes it goes.
  • Had a few people checking it out parked outside a large family event/party. One of them (an uncle of mine) asked what it was since it looks like an Aston Martin or Jaguar and he knows I can afford neither of those.
  • A colleague asked which country makes that car and "is it a diesel?". I think it might be because it sounds a bit loud in our underground car park. To put it in perspective, the colleague drives a Tesla.
Other than that, I just notice lots of people walk past when it's parked and keep looking at it. Haven't had any strangers ask about it particularly. Maybe they're getting a bit more common around Melbourne.

So this ol' rag ......9 months and the #neckbreakers factor is REAL! I've tried to explain it in simple terms to my lovely wife who insist that it's all in my head........until she stops burying her face into her phone and starts paying attention.....

On I-95 southbound, she couldn't figure out what was wrong with this guy 4 lanes over.....until she realized that he was eyeballing our car.....3 mins later , it happened again.....later that night , a Subie with kids in it slows down for a challenge.....I don't take the bait and she's yelling at me "you're not racing" I'm like , look babe, I'm slowing down. ...somehow they drop back ,rolling down their window......you didn't buy that car to drive slow! My wife gives them the Mutombo finger......he's not racing......then whispers "punch it" ......not a fair rolling fight but I switch to Sport mode and #HEGONE! .....lol..... at 115mph she's had enough......they catch up and say.....WOW that's fast! Thank you is all I can say.....awesomeness is the STINGER

Went to get some lunch, reversed into a park. Nearby was an older couple looking at the car.
The guy says " nice colour, have you had it for long ? " I replied " got it last year, twin turbo, V6 "
he replies " I'm already drooling " " it's lots of fun " and he says " oh, I bet "

Then on the way back up the Hwy pass a greenish commodore with P plates, he zooms right past, then completely slows down for me to catch up, he's looking at the car. Seemed peculiar behaviour, wasn't sure if he wanted to race but I didn't want to play with little boys so I kept going and he dropped back

I should've taken a picture, but over the weekend, was on a drive with the fam and parked at a roadside bar and grill (we ordered for pickup while parked, don't freak out :p). Anyways, I was parked a couple of spots away from a Jaguar XJ sedan. A couple of guys walked out of the place and first glanced at the Jag and made a comment, but saw mine and were talking about it even more and continued to glance at it as they walked past. I'm sure if it wasn't for social distancing, they would've walked up to me to ask about it. :)

I was parked last weekend by a main roadway and I see this car coming in the distance and I recognize it immediately, it's a Ferrari 430. I'm gawking at this guys car as he rolls pass and I look up and notice hes doing the same with mine even turning his head to look back after he passes. The Stinger really is a beautiful car, strip the badges and you could convince someone from a distance they're looking at a Maserati or something over 100k usd. The interior is really the only place where you can tell it's a sub 100k car.

omfg that's hilarious

Whether it's stopping in at the coffee shop for a cup of coffee, or just driving through the neighbourhood, everyone checks out the car. I haven't had so many comments on a car since I had my FD RX7. At the coffee shop the old folks always wander out and stand around it, and no one can ever figure out the E badge.

The black car, on Eibach springs and the big deep wheels, it looks like it's just sitting on the ground when it's parked out on the street, no picture I've ever seen does the Stinger justice, it's way better looking in person than what you see out there.

I’d just parked in the shopping centre the other day when a young kid who was walking past in front of me suddenly stopped, propped and quickly took a selfie with my car as the background which I thought was amusing.

Stinger's popularity has suddenly become a disadvantage. I'm seriously following "safer at home" guidelines because I'm old and borderline for other risk factors, but when I went out to get a package from my porch last week, my neighbor's visiting (adult) son came bounding across the street, no sense of proper distancing, wanting to talk about "that car." My Stinger wasn't even outside and the garage door was closed, but she's still a magnet! Now I check the peephole every time I have to water or go to the mailbox to make sure he's not around.

I have been on the fence about getting my roof and black chrome bits wrapped glossy black. This pic has sold me on it. Looks great.

The window tint makes it pop. Without tint it would look worse.

In these bizarre times, I would recommend wrapping your bits!

Tonight I was picking up food from a local Mexican restaurant, I didn't see anyone as I put the food in the hatch. After I started up the car, I was backing up, and was startled to see an older couple with umbrellas up (it was drizzling) standing behind the car to check it out. I was going to open the door or window, but with the drizzling and the whole social distance thing, I decided against it. At night in the drizzle, they might've been trying to figure out what this "Stinger" is. :p

When i came back from "the store" this friday, i met 2 "girls" (age ~25-30) eyeballing the (my) car alot.
It was semi-clean atleast.
