Navigation Update V14 due out April 20, 2020

If you update the map software to version 14 in your 2018 Stinger GT2, be aware it is not fully compatible.
And I see no reason why any other 2018 Stinger trim would not have the same problem. So, I'll just stick with my version 12.5 for the time being.

Thanks for the heads up; and taking the time to explain your experience in detail. :)

NAVIGATION SOFTWARE UPDATE 14 NOT FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH 2018 STINGER GT2

Ordered update with SD card labeled 142S5_A; version number from the SD card file CK.USA.SOP.V115.200401.STD_H, and installed. Everything look great with updated features EXCEPT I can not navigate to a specific address like: 123 Oak Street, Anywhere, US State. The “Address” icon from before is gone and in it’s place they say to use the magnifying glass.

From my reading the features of the new update and talking to the EVO support staff, the new version is coded to access a cloud based server for addresses instead of the files on the SD card as before. EXCEPT, the 2018 Stinger GT2 is not compatible with that feature; so they built in a work around to try to access the address files they added to the SD card so it functions like before.

Ok, so those of us with 2019 (GT1) should be good to do?

Don't know about 2019, good news it only cost less than $30 to find out

Just for a bit of info, the CK and CK19 is for the 18 and 19-20 models, respectively, based on the nav updater from Kia (which unless they fixed it in the last 10 minutes, defaults to Korean only so you need to change that to the appropriate region). So there are two separate versions based on the model year, just make sure you're getting the right one.

I guess I should have installed the updater. I did that now but I'm unable to log in. I tried to register but it takes me to a Korean site. I'm using Chrome so it translated the page for me but I'm stuck at the verification page. Can you tell me how you got into this system? I tried all of the usernames and passwords that I have for Kia's various sites and nothing worked.

Change your region in the updater to either United States or Canada, as appropriate. Don't worry about creating an account, just go to the bottom of the welcome screen where it says non-members and click on "KIA MOTORS". Select "Register Later". It'll do some background work for a little while and then ask you to select where you want the files downloaded. Ignore that for right now and click the settings cog at the top right of the screen to open the settings menu. Change your region there and click Apply. You can also go ahead and change your download location if you want to.

EDIT: Added some pictures walking through the steps in case there's any issues. There's a couple more after that point (clicking on "KIA MOTORS" again), but it should be pretty obvious (mostly just one button status screens, basically.) After this point you can follow the instructions on the update.kia.com website. There will be a Terms and Condition for data collection screen as well, likely in Korean, but you can leave those marked as Decline and just click OK.

Thanks for the help. I'm downloading the files now. The updater was a little confusing because the selections you mentioned appear to be grayed out but they worked just fine.

Have you tried this in your car?

So, with forceflow2's help I was able to download the update from Kia. It installed without any issues in my 2019 GT2. I've attached photos that show all of the new version numbers. Note that my model and version numbers are the same as what Swap_File shows in post #341 of this thread EXCEPT the SW Version number appears newer. I can confirm that the Climate settings are there. I also noticed that the Address icon is missing from the Destinations screen. I tried entering several addresses using voice commands and IT WORKED! In fact, it worked very well. I also noticed some minor changes to the map icons and I now have the nature sounds app to help me fall asleep on those long drives. I haven't updated my unit in awhile and some of these changes might have happened prior to this release.

I hope this helps everyone!

Edit: Added photo showing the map version (NAM.13.47.44.680.101.5)

Take a look at my latest post (#388). I used the downloader from update.kia.com. During the process it has you identify your vehicle. I noticed that there was an entry for the 2018 Stinger and a different entry for the 2019-2020 Stinger. I can't say for sure but you might try downloading the 2018 files and update with those. The numbers on your screen are close to the ones I got except the model number is different and the prefix for yours is ck where mine is ck19. I hope this helps.

I haven't yet, I left it downloading and came back to an error on it unzipping search POI data. If I retry the download it starts by redownloading a multi-part ZIP that it appears to successfully extract from, but then logs an unzip error and restarts the download at 97% (which is when the ZIP files are downloaded). It downloads and extracts the files about 3 or 4 times and then gives me the error message again. I'm working on figuring out why this is happening, it seems to be the very last step before the download is completed.

I am glad it worked for you. I believe I am on either 12 or 12.5, whatever it came with when I bought the car, so I should see a few changes as well.

Is yours a 2018 or is it a later model? The reason I ask is that it appeared that the updater actually downloaded the individual files (which seemed odd) rather than zip files. I watched the destination folder while it filled up.

It's a 2019. The ZIP file it's downloading is under the Data\Nation\NA\Search directory of the image and is split into 51 parts. When unzipped it is named InterPOI.ihafsz, but the logs indicate it either is corrupted or it can't find the file (which would make sense if it is corrupted, since it would fail to extract). Not sure why, I've tried it on three seperate computers now all with the same result. I'm probably going to try and download them directly from the website, outside of the updater, and see how that goes.

Would you explain the process how you update yours. I just downloaded the map and saved it on a SD card but no sure exactly how to go about. Thanks in advance.

Same issue for me.

On very high speed internet... my connection isn’t the issue.

Multimedia Manual, section 9-10 1 Setup, System Update. Then follow the prompts. Make sure the car is running so you don't drain the battery. Section 1-5 Component Names and Functions shows where the SD card goes (#6)

The download fails between 70-90% for me. Retrying many times hasn't helped it complete.

I uploaded that file to File on MEGA
It's just under 500MB.

I wonder if Kia (Hyundai) is using something like Akamai and there are some bad copies out there. If you have access to a VPN you might try connecting to a server near Spokane (where I am) since I was able to download the software without any problems.

I didn't download, ordered SD card, think they have to work with so many models and the 2018 Stinger would be a low volume and therefore a low priority so the work around coders forgot to put the address icon back in.

I downloaded the new free map and it upgraded my version from CK19.USA.SOP.V115.200324.STD_H (that I just purchased) to CK.USA.SOP.V115.200401.STD_H.

My climate settings are now restored.

Still no reply from Hyundai MnSOFT.

This is a perfect example of why people complain about Kia support. *Facepalm*
