MY21 Aussie Release Date

Ordered my GT last week with a July delivery - thought based on hearing from others this was accurate as it seems average waits are about 4-5 months. However...had a call from the dealer today who said all dealers had been sent an email from Kia HQ on Monday stating that March orders would not commence build until July/August meaning October/November delivery!

Anyone else hear this? Kia will lose a lot of sales if they have 9 month waits...great car but it’s not like I’m buying a hand built Aston

I call bullshit.

Your dealer is full of it. He has a backlog of orders. KIA limit the number of cars he can order per month and there are obviously a number of cars he has sold ahead of yours. 9 months wait... Sounds like he has probably atleast 3 months worth of orders ahead of yours. Your car order wont even be submitted at this stage, or atleast not yet been allocated.

Wow that is ridiculous but it's the new car climate we are currently in. I'm in the same boat as a few others that ordered in Dec and now have an expected delivery date of May/June. Was also contemplating cancelling and trying a different dealer but then would further delay the car coming so I'm just going to suck it up and wait the extra 2 months.

In my experience and ive only had 3 brand new cars, they've all taken 4-6 months even my no frills I30 back in 2009. Anything under 4 month is a bonus.
 
A bit strange that you have an hard time getting your MY21 but they start to flow MY22 to NA even before an official release... now sure there is a rush to get MY22 in March but still happy that they are finally hitting our shores.

Totally agree. Unfortunately for some the wait is considerably longer than 6 months.

The opaque process of limiting orders from dealers imposed by KIA is resulting in 'have and have nots' - whereby unless you get lucky with stock or order from a dealer who has a BIG limit you're going to be waiting a long time, often with phone calls after some months of waiting already saying "there's been further UNFORSEEN delays" when in fact the delay was not unforseen at All.

KIA Australia really should adopt a first in first served basis for allocations.

I went for the deep chroma blue. I actually went first to Blacktown as that was closer but I was told to check availability in July at the earliest. They didn't even have one on display. I went to Parramatta and there was one in the showroom with the sign "sold" and they also had a demo that I took for a spin for 1.5 hours.
