Hey there @Jimmer , the dealership should have been upfront with you, in regards to the build date, personally it would bother me big time, and according to the poll , Nov '17 and Dec '17 built Stingers are currently leading the way, but most probably sold sometime in 2018, being aware of the build date would have helped, i bought my Stinger in Nov '17 but insisted on a Jan '18 build date, hope your Stinger gives you no issues and you just enjoy it, the only issue i can possibly think of is if you go to sell it, and the resale value is lower because it's a 2017 model, sorry to hear this has happened to you, that's not acceptable on behalf of the dealership at all.
Well, I guess the good part is the only issue I'm having that some others are is the stereo issue. Paint seems fine. No noise, no vibrations, no issues at all other than the stereo.

And I guess the blame for not knowing about the month and year it was made kind of falls on me. Haven't bought a new car in so long didn't occur to me to ask. I mean, as you can tell, I didn't even know where to look. How long has it been since I bought new cars? Well, when I bought the Sorento earlier this year it had the fine thing plastic covering on front of the car and mirrors and a couple other spots. I thought it was only supposed to be there for shipping. I took it off. They were nice enough to put it back on....for free.

There's also a sticker attached under your bonnet/hood when it's raised.

In the US, the hood sticker only shows "2018MY". The build month is on the black plaque on the inside of the driver's door.

Btw, I just went and used my first wash on my 30 day pass. Chance for snow coming in the next 48 hours; so I got all nice and clean, "getting ready". My car went a week since the last wash, gathering dust; but no salt from the roads; it's been nice and dry and almost entirely above freezing, even at night!:thumbup::thumbup:

I did that! You'll find the occasional question on here: what are those three little patches of plastic right in front of the rear wheels? Like me, some have wondered if they were "packing plastic" that got overlooked during the dealer prep. Nope! Expensive little PPF pieces, they are. I had to put mine back on the right side; don't peel them off!

Hey there Jimmer, the dealership should have been upfront with you, in regards to the build date.

I actually went into the dealership knowing I wanted a 2019 to avoid some of the early build issues. I settled on a March 28 2018 build because I wanted white, they only had 2 and I was rushing to make the trade on my other car. The dealer had the nerve to tell me March 28 was the latest build he could order. Well, maybe it was the latest HE could order, but not the latest build date for 2018, that I know. In retrospect, I should have stuck to my guns on a 2019 for peace of mind if nothing else, and I should have actually gotten the dark grey (Panthera Metal?), this whole theory on white being easier maintenance isn't panning out for me. I like PERFECTLY clean cars (like freshly detailed) and this white shows any non-white specs, plus I've been noticing a lot of rusty looking iron contamination. It's terrible.

I never get white cars.

I wouldn't trade my Stinger for another color Stinger, but I will not buy another white car. My standards of clean are much too high lol.

Just as well you didn't buy black or a dcb they're a nightmare to keep clean trust me.

Normally, I'm fond of black cars. I wouldn't buy one, but I usually like how they look more than white cars. The Stinger is the exception. The black one is my least favorite. Seems like it hides some of the beautiful lines.

True it was only when I went on a "meet " and we had various colours did I then see the light colours show there sporty lines more effectively. Ceramic grey, yellow, silky silver and then white was were most evident.

I like Black, a lot, in the daylight; at night not so much, as far as seeing the Stinger's finer qualities clearly or to advantage. But there is also something subtly aggressive about the Panthera, Aurora and Deep Chroma in dim light.

The micro blue isn’t any better. It shows up the dirt/dust a lot more than the white car it replaced

I don’t disagree with you but I think the problem is “us’ not the colour we chose. I think no matter what colour we chose we would all notice the dust. Innocent bystanders may not....

Yeah fair point. I did think mine was a bit dusty recently after a day parked outside in the wind but parked next to a friend at the shops who said after seeing mine and how clean it was he had to go home and wash his

I'm planning on doing the full weekend detail in the spring and I'm going to lay down ceramic coating again. I'm hoping the claimed "dust and dirt repellency" actually hold some truth. I applied Carpro Cquartz to my magnetic metallic (dark grey) Mustang every year and I don't remember nearly as many contaminants sticking to the car, but it was also a dark color which might have hid them. I guess I will see, and I shall report back at that time.

You haven't seen the horrors of hell until you tried to keep gloss black clean......never again, but she was a hot bitch for 2 hours after every wax!!!

The two colors I avoid in cars are black and white. White because they are usually boring to me (not in the Stingers case though), and black because even though they usually look very nice, they are a pain because they always have to be washed.

I usually end up with some variation of red. EasiIy more than half my vehicles have been red. I wanted the Stinger in Yellow. Blue was my second choice but I didnt want the light seats, so I got red. I love how all three look in the Stinger.

How do you buy a car in Nov17 with a Jan18 build date? Go forward in time? Is the build date not when it was actually, you know, built? For that matter the Stinger built in Dec 17-like mine- is still a 2018 MY. Not a 2017. If not how could they possibly be selling 2019 MY's right now?

Cars built in 2017 are all MY18; there is no such thing as a MY17 Stinger.

You could buy your car (order it in a particular color, with specific options) in November and insist on it being at least a build date no earlier than Jan18; then wait for delivery ...

Hi there @phxgt , during Oct '17 i did my research on Stinger and went to maybe 4 different Kia Dealerships, one dealership had a Sunset Yellow Stinger GT, with the Red seats making it one of a kind, maybe even too this day, i was told the dealership could order a one off in any combination, but that was SOLD. Anyway, after i had done the test drives, a few days into Nov'17, i made up my mind and signed the contract for a DeepChromaBlue StingerGT, even though there was none to see in person, BUT , and the big but was that i would wait for my Stinger to be built in Jan'18, and it would be built as an order in that colour for me, from the factory, on the contract it was clearly stated , January 2018 BUILD ONLY, just my preference, so as i hope you can guess, i had to wait from the start of Nov'17 to at least Jan'18 for the car to be built, by the time my Stinger arrived, it was late Feb'18, i saw and sat inside it while it was still in the holding yard with all the white protective plastic over it, and those cute little blue foam squares on the doors..haha, anyway exactly to the date, i picked it up 4 months since i had signed the contract, that's my story and that's how i got a Jan'18 build, the patience to wait i guess.
