LSD Service Bulletin - Oil Update

has anyone tried Mobil1 75w90 LS gear oil? price point is much nicer than the motul. I'm going to tackle this next month when the temps drop down here.
That was my go-to gear oil for the longest time. I still had some leftover but not enough for my first LSD fill on the Stinger. I bought Valvoline 75w-90 Synth mostly for the flex bottle. SO probably 2/3 Mobil 1 and 1/3 Valvoline. I did put in about 4 Oz. of Trans-X LS additive, since I've already read about the Kia Tech Bulletin. Still in the LSD, probably 20k now. No problems.

I decided not to take the risk for $20 difference in price and ordered the Motul. Now let's see if the dealer can perform the oil pipe recall on my car and get it back to me in one piece, then i'll swap out the diff fluid....or trade it in somewhere else if they fail.

I was going to use the Amsoil Gear Oil (has FM in it) but since people had good results with the Motul I will try that instead. Also trying to find a good copy of the TSB for this. All the links I've come across so far seem to be dead.

As an aside, for the life of me I can't find the search field anymore. Have I gone blind or did it disappear??

I put the Motul in over a week ago. No issues or noises.

Was it done at the dealership? Wherever it was done take it back ASAP sounds like they put the wrong gear oil in it.

Ya, had the dealership do it. Its cold, and with it still in warranty, figured It was easiest all round. I brought it in first thing, they took it for a test drive and said didnt even have to get it out of the lot to say 'nope its not right'. They redid the fluid and I just got it back, not too sure if its all good yet, but its alot better then when I first had it. Still gonna test it for a few days before calling it.

An update. So the dealer drained and refilled the LSD, which improved the chatter and whine, but still made an overall drone and whine when it was active.

The LSD ended up getting warrantied and filled at the dealer with 0023219075 LSD oil. Now have about 500-600km on the new one and the noise is back, whine on full lock, slight chatter on hard turns. Dammit...

Hey man, I recommend going to Canadian Tire and drain/refill with Royal Purple 75W90. That will get rid of the noises and vibrations. Worked for me. The oem fluid is crap, but our dealers have to use factory parts and fluids for warranty repairs.

Or you can use Royal Purple after the warranty ends.

Ill be taking it back to the dealer to say this isnt working, whats next? At least get documentation for future damage if it decides to grenade. My main concern is that its damaging the LSD with the incorrect oil., since it wasn't really making noise when it was replaced. I really cant afford to be down a car or a replacement in the near future and the warranty is up the next few months.. Funds are tight while job hunting right now :(

Ill definitely look into this as well. Thanks.

still no noise or issues here with the motul, six months later.

You used Motul Gear 300? 75w-90? If yes, how many bottles?
Motul Gear 300 LS 75W-90, a bit under 2 quarts so 2 bottles. Make sure it has the "LS" on the bottle after the 300.

I'm still on the factory diff fluid on MY19 Stinger and cannot say if I've felt any of the mentioned problems here. Anything to look for?

Does your car have a rear LSD?

Side note, anyone that hasnt had a LSD fluid change, any noise at cold(-10deg?) and operating temperatures (ie engine oil hot temp)? Like a whining, growl, or like a electric motor style sounding, while in turn, left or right, coasting, or underload? Want to make sure Im not going insane and unreasonable. Ive got about 1.1k km on a new LSD and Factory oil, but want a sanity check before I call fowl...
