Lozic ECU + TCU + AWD Tune

Got a reply from lozic about flames and he said "Stock Catalyst is not allowed for make flame. It should be a sport catalyst or as straight pipe." I dont know if that means both primary and secondary cats need to be removed or if a catless secondary downpipe would work.

Sport Catalyst probably means a HFC 200 cell. I would follow up and ask that specifically to get confirm. Primaries come with this in many cases. Obviously, in this case would have to have secondaries with no cats I’m guessing.
These are good examples of sport/race cats. They are higher flow and hold up to sustained heats. You can get them in a variety of configurations.
If I were to get down pipes I’d request a build with these.

Installed it today and only did a short test drive around the block, should have more time tonight to really test things out. First impression is good but really only went about half a mile

So what is your take and thoughts?

Work and Kids took over my night so nothing new to report. I will try and get out tonight for a proper test drive

Had an opportunity to drive the car quite a bit last night with the ECU and TCU.

Lets start with the TCU, shift pressure 2, the shifts in comfort mode are fast and solid. In sport the shifts are fast and firm. Reminds me of my Evo with the duel clutch SST trans in normal. Overall it is a great improvement. I did not launch the car so more to come on that.

As for the ECU, I have mixed feelings, when doing wide open throttle the car is fast, similar to or I think even a bit faster then the JB4 map 7 (WMI) with additive at 60. Now for the part I am not sure I like, when drive "normally" the car always seems to be trying to build boost, always. Even when cruising at 50 and a slight tap of the throttle it will build 2-3 pounds of boost. When leaving a stop light normally it sounds like the wastegate is wide open then slams shut. On top of that their is always timing being pulled when throttle is open more 20%. Another thing I noticed was a vibration when adding lite throttle at highway speeds, almost like I was driving over a rumble strip on the side of the road, I actually thought I did the first time but I was able to repeat it several times. Summary, WOT is amazing and really quick, normal/part throttle is not great and makes me worry about the car

I plan to reachout to Lozic to see if their could potentially be something wrong with the tune

What fuel and what setting for ECU? Make sure you turn bit6 on in JB4 and any custom settings to default.

So is that 1.4 bar on 93 octane? I’m ready to send my order sheet off today, not the best thing to hear..

I get a surging throttle and the stock blow offs keep releasing. It's got a lot better but it's still there. Like you said wot is great it's 50 -75% throttle that's pulsing like.

Same question to you, do you have bit6 turned on and all settings to default 0? Have tou tested without JB4 connected for logs?

Yes that all sounds right with the ecu. Always building boost and kills mpg. When I got my hks bovs it made it really obvious the pulsating sounds under moderate throttle was the bov on a consistent cycle releasing the boost it didn't need since it always makes to much. The timing does improve as it learns. It still has its days tho.

Have you read the rest of the thread? If I were buying a Lozic tune, based off what I've read here over the last few months I certainly wouldn't expect anything near perfection.

It's a fast tune for sure, but buying now means you'll be a beta tester.

Ive seen everything I can find about lozic, this forum, youtube, Instagram more specifically the original test cars account with the dark blue stinger. I’ve read through the entire thread a couple of times lol. I came to the conclusion that a more mild bar 1.3-1.4 tune was manageable and wouldn’t be too crazy. I guess I’m just basing that off of rob and slips assessments of their tunes. Might just go with a tcu tune for time being and rethink the ecu.

I think I'll communicate this to Lozic. I'm not sure if there is a different mentality in Korea for tuning expectations but when I first got the 1.5Bar tune, I felt the same way. Since then, I was re-mapped to 1.3Bar but I chose my PSI for each RPM based on a Map6 tune I made. Since then, it's been great.

He did make the Pressure 2 TCU tune default based on our feedback.

The order form he just sent me has pressure 2 as default so I can confirm that. Also I mentioned I want to use 1.4 bar with 93oct/aki. His response was “If you use 93 octane. 1.5 bar is recommended. 1.4 bar also good.”

I’ve read through the thread and know that is definitely not the case for our fuel here and in canada. Even 1.4 might be close to the edge for 93oct alone it seems.

The problem is the inconsistency in our fuel. I run 1.3Bar with no issues on 91 Costco. When I had the 1.5Bar tune, there were timing corrections but not bad, though that was in cooler ambient temperatures. I wonder how much different 93 and 91 octane are here in Canada... I don't have 93 where I live though.

I recommend asking him to ramp the boost up slower, more like the tune he made for me and I think for @CoconutRob . It's a lot different from the original and drives well and moves.

@sweetboyed - copying Lozic on this to get his feedback.
